"Charge" because she said she couldn't see herself walking into a room saying "CHARLIE, CHARLIE!!!
So of course I didn't know what the hell she was talking about and had to go to my number 1 website youtube to see and she was referring to a 1979 commercial for Revlon

Back in the 1970's, Charlie perfume was one of the most popular of the cheap perfumes aside from Jean Nate.

Charlie perfume was below average quality in my opinion, but Jean Nate was the WORST! That stuff smelled awful!

Someone gave my mom a bottle of Jean Nate once and it gave her a rash. The worst retro perfume to me was Baby Soft. I don't know why a grown woman would want to smell like a baby.

Didn't Charlie perfume kind of make a comeback in the 90s? I remember this commercial airing quite a bit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycdfnwmboPA I worked at Walmart in the 90s and there was this girl working there at the time that would always wear Charlie. I thought it smelled okay. I didn't realize it was cheap. I wonder if Shelley Hack and Karen Duffy actually wore it much.

Jean Nate products were parodied in Wacky Packages as "Jean Nutty"

The original Charlie commercial from 40 years ago had memorable lyrics:
"There's a fragrance that's here today, and they call it — Charlie!
A different fragrance that thinks your way, and they call it – Charlie!
Kinda young, kinda now, Charlie!
Kinda free, kinda wow! Charlie!
The kind of fragrance that's gonna stay, and it's here now — Charlie!"

Also memorable was the beauty of Shelley Hack.

This was big-time advertising from Revlon. I can remember working with a guy named Charlie nearly 20 years later and still quoting a line or two, "Charlie!"
