Over a 12 year period, an unknown man raped 50 women and killed at least 10 people - I cover his rampage and try and put together all the clues in this intriguing cold case.

This forum, Websleuths and Larry Compton's book helped compile the info on this intriguing case.

GREAT find!!! Some chilling information, most of which I already knew from reading the book.

The only thing I noticed is that the article mentions that there was an attack in 1987 that was similar to EAR's MO and it said DNA confirmed it was him. Not sure if that is accurate. I'm pretty sure they couldn't conclusively link him to that attack.

Something I was thinking about recently....EAR didn't hit (that anyone is aware of) for 5 years prior to Janelle Cruz and then never again after her (again, that we are aware of). What was it about Janelle that made him come out of "retirement" after 5 years? What triggered him to kill her and then (possibly) never kill again? I know there is the obvious theory that he was in prison during those 5 years or something happened to prevent him from attacking (like if he got married or moved away for a bit)....but even still, why do one rape/murder and go back into "retirement"?

Some "I can't find a spot for this" notes on the case:

Detectives are investigating a series of sexual assaults that occurred in the Sacramento area between 1992 and 1994. Several attacks occurred inside the victim's residences. The suspect laid in wait until the victims came home. Upon their arrival, he physically over powered them, bound and sexually assaulted them. The victims describe the suspect as a Caucasian male wearing a ski mask, with light colored possibly blue eyes and light colored, possibly blonde hair. The suspect is described as being between 5'10 to 6'0 and 180-200 pounds. Suspect used a hunting knife in one attack and a stun gun in another separate attack.

(Prob not EAR as he's unlikely to regress away from murder)

One lady said that she looked out her window one day and saw EAR across the street snooping around a neighbors house and looking into the windows. So instead of calling the police, she decides she's just going to close her blinders and not report it in fear of losing her privacy.

(Police must just shake their head at this)
---

One of the EAR's victim's ended up ENJOYING the rape as she was into kinky sex and she sounded more turned on than emotionally fractured by her attack when cops interviewed her.

(Just an odd incident, doesn't alter anything with the case)
---
In most cases the EAR seemed uninterested in playing with the women's breasts, he would vaginal rape them (some he only plunged in and pulled out quickly. Some were anally raped and he sometimes licked the woman's privates. Many were also forced into giving oral sex to EAR.

Almost, if not all of the victim's were also forced to stroke his penis w/ bound hands behind their backs. One woman started stroking him before ordered and EAR seemed excited an actually played w/ her breasts after this.

It does say that he's not officially connected to the '87 attack. I could have wrote that paragraph a little more clearly.

Oh, did you write that article? If so, nice job!

I skipped some pages in the book because it was just banter (hypothetical banter) between the police....going on and on about how they can't catch him, and it was boring me to tears as there was so much rinse and repeat, so I did skip a bunch of pages....I missed the part in the book about the lady with the scar and the lady who shot a warning shot and thought EAR browned himself.

I also didn't know EAR actually anally raped one of the men in the later attacks. Strange.

That probably didnt happen  , that victim was found in an awkward position which is why some people suggest that scenario ....

EAR however did anally rape several women victims

There is some new information on this case! I just did a google search and hit "news" and a few different articles from about a week ago came up....reports are saying four other murders are connected to EAR (not sure how accurate that info is) and that they may have found a reason for the change in locations with respect to the attacks/murders. Talk of paint being found at different crime scenes, EAR was possibly a painter/contactor, etc. For those interested, get googling :)
