Jinny Exstead stepped outside of her apartment not knowing where the day ahead of her would take her. She was walking down to the coffee shop as she turned around and saw some guy threatening another. So she ran over and quickly the man stood up and pulled out his gun. He took a shot at her, but missed so she shot three times at him. He fell to the ground while something flew out of his pocket. It was a badge from her division. Her eyes widened, “Oh no…” A group of cops fled to the scene. Jinny got up and jogged over to them “I shot him...I didn’t know”

“Jinny, what happened here? I’m getting phone calls from all these stations in California about you!” Kate said. Jinny cleared her throat and sat down. “Well…On my way to work, I saw this...this guy. He was threatening some other and he pulled out a gun and so did I…He did take a shot at me, but missed…So I did the same, three times though…” “Three times?! Jinny!…” “Can I just finish here? Then when I went over, something flew out of his pocket and it was a badge…From our division…” Kate dropped her pen, “Oh God Jinny, you were obviously drinking…” Jinny shot up, “WHAT?! Cap, that’s bull!” “What other explanation is there then?? You tell me” Kate said leaning back in her chair. Jinny looked at Kate and then at the door and back at Kate “No, you tell me” “Jinny, if you are not going to cooperate with me, Im sorry I will have to call in Charles to straighten you out..” Jinny gave her that ‘look’ “You wouldn’t” Kate then motions for Charles to come into her office. “Inspector Exstead, what do we have here?"

“I wasn’t drinking if that’s what you are here about” she said sternly. “It wont happen again…” Charles shook his head, “You used your weapon without thinking, Jinny. I’m sorry this will be your last mistake. Your fired” “HEY! He cant do that to me!!” she yelled. Kate stood up, “Yea, but I can” Jinny rubbed her forehead, “Ya don’t have to…” She got her gun, ID and badge and dropped them onto Kate’s desk “I quit” She walked out of Kate’s office and halfway through the door she yelled, “DON’T EVER EXPECT TO SEE INSPECTOR EXSTEAD AROUND HERE ANYMORE!” Kate looked at Charles “Shes been drinking, it’s the only explanation..” Charles shook his head, “Glad to have her out the door, all she was doing was making it worse!”

Later that day, when everyone left, Kate went over to Jinny’s desk and started rummaging through her files “The case about the elderly abuse…that must have been hard on her…maybe that’s why” “Cap? That you??” Raina said walking out of the ladies room. “Oh, I didn’t think anyone else was here” “Why are you taking all of Inspector Exstead’s things out of her desk….?” Kate put the files on top of Jin’s desk. “You’ll find out soon enough” Kate slid Jinny’s nameplate out of its holder and gathered up everything she had took out. She went into her office and out them into a box labeled, “Exstead’s Files, Other”. Kate picked her coat up from the back of her chair and put it on. She buttoned it up and picked up the box. She walked out into the streets and to her car. She put the box into her trunk and locked it. “One less cop out on these San Fransisco streets…” she said and sighed.

Jinny put the keys through the slot on the door leading to her apartment. “I guess I should call dad…”she said out loud, but to herself. She went over to the phone and dialed.. “Dad, hey Its Jinny..” “Jinny girl!” Jinny sighed, “Yea, Jinny girl Uhh listen I got into trouble at work..” “Oh..How much trouble?”her father asked not pleased. “Enough to get me fired” “Jinny! How could you! You were drinking again, werent you! Jinny!” “DAD! I wasn’t drinking!” she yelled “Everyone thinks I was!! I wasn’t! Now even you believe me?! I am starting to think I was adopted!” she slammed the phone down and rubbed her eyes. She went into her bedroom and started going through old pictures. “Me and the crew…” she said. Jinny was referring to the picture of her, CD, Raina, Nate, Cap, and Magda just a few weeks before. She then came across another picture of her and Teddy. “Theodore Blumenthal ADA…” She took the picture and put it with the others. Jinny then came across a picture of her whole family “Mom…Dad…Casey…John…and I…” Her mom was a beautiful brunette, she was wearing a spring dress with flowers on it. Her dad was in his uniform and her brothers in play clothes. Surprisingly Jinny was also in a cute dress, she was only 4. “Those were the days….” She said

Jinny sighed and looked around. She focused on the kitchen, then the living room, and back at the kitchen. “One sip aint gonna hurt me” But that one sip turned into one bottle or beer.Jinny forgotten how the taste of beer felt, and how much she realized she missed it. “I need another one!! No, no. I cant.. I cant!! I made a promise..I…I went to rehab!! I’m screwed!” she said kinda out-of-it. Jinny shook her head and walked into her bedroom. She layed on her bad and soon enough fell asleep.

Kate walked out of her office and to where ‘her basic’ crew was crowded around Jinny’s desk. ”If you all are wondering what happened, we are having a meeting in my office later on at 10…Be there” Kate walked to the coffee machine and started making herself some. “This should be good…” Nate said. “God, it’s a bore without Jin around…” Magda said. “Hopefully its not for long” Raina added.
At 10am, they all crowded around Kate’s desk. “Inspector Exstead had a little accident which cost her her job” “Oh no” Magda said. “Oh yes” Kate responded. “But what exactly happened?” Raina asked. “She used her weapon without thinking. She shot and killed one out of our division” Magda took a seat, this was too much for her. “But…I need a partner…I cant do this all on my own!” “And that’s where she….” Kate motions for a younger looking female, in her 20’s “comes in…” They all stare at her. “Everybody, this is Hayley Mitchels, and she will be your new partner, Magda. She is my daughters friend and is looking for a job so I’m giving her a shot at Inspector.” Hayley smiled at all of them “Hi…” “Great…” Mag said lowly. “Excuse me?” Hayley said. “Oh, nothing….I guess I should show you around now” Hayley shook her head, “Oh, no need to. Kate...I mean Captain already has.” Magda sighed a sigh of relief. “Okay then, I’ll see you around Inspector Mitchels” “Hayley, please” she said. “Oh, Inspector Mitchels, since your new here, we don’t call each other by our first names…” Hayley looked embarrassed, “Sorry…” “This will be fun…come on Inspector” Magda said. Nobody moved. “Hayley I meant you” “Oh! Sorry” she hurried to where Magda was. “I will need to talk to you later, Cap” Magda said sternly as she and her new partner walked out of Kate’s office. “Just because she is your daughters friend? It doesn’t matter if she has any experience being on the streets?” Raina said. “I mean, I would of done a better job of being Inspector Ramirazes new partner…” Kate then had an idea, “RAINA! That’s it! You will be Magdas partner and Hayley will take your place!” Raina cleared her throat, “It was just a suggestion…”

Later that night the guys went to the bar. "Its not the same, Im going to call Jinny" Mag said as she dug through her pocket to find change. She put the coin through the slit and dialed Jinnys number. There was no answer so she left a message. "Hey Jin, its me Magda. Just called to see how you were so uhh call me back you know my number. bye" Magda walked back to the bar dissapointed. "Shes not home, maybe she went over to her dads or something" Raina nods, "Yea....." They all start cracking up. "You dont even know what we're talking about, Raina" Magda says. Raina shrugs and laughs, "Well, I dont want to be left out of your oh-so-interesting- conversations!" (haha)

“Inspector Mitchels, Washington, may I see you for a minute?” Kate said the next morning. Both girls walked into her office. “I have a change in plans. Washington, you are Ramirazes new partner. Mitchels, you take Rainas place” Raina grinned at Kate and at Hayley. “Okay, I was a little nearvous being Inspector anyways.” Hayley skipped out of Kate’s office. “A skipping Inspector” Raina began “That would really go well” Kate couldn’t help but laugh, ”Congratulations Raina! You’re our new Inspector!” Raina smiled and did a little ‘happy’ dance, “I don’t think a dancing Inspector would go to well, either” Kate said still laughing. Raina stopped and laughed too and walked out of her office with her new Inspector badge. “Magda! Good news!” Magda looked up “Jinnys back and Hayley got fired?” “No, not exactly…” “Then what?” Magda asked. “I have become your new partner!” Raina said happily. Magda smiled, “Your better than any other person here…well besides Jinny…fit to be my partner…” “Thanks..I think” Raina said. She saw her shiny nameplate on the desk “Its great to be one of them!”

Jinny decided to go over to her dads this afternoon. “Now what do I do?” she asked him. “See Jinny? I knew this would happen, I knew that I would have to take responcibility for your actions. I’m sorry, but you’ve got to fight this battle on your own” Jinny was mad once again, “My real father would of helped me! I swear I am adopted here! I have a screwed up family, so am I! Im a damn failure and you all know it” Jinny grabbed her stuff and walked out of his house. “That went well…” Mr. Exstead said.
As Jinny walked back to her house, she saw a sign on a car dealer shop “In need of workers” she then got a great idea. She ran home and got her resume. She then changed out of her leather jacket, into comfortable street like clothes She then walked out of the apartment building and back to the dealer. She walked inside and saw some beautiful model cars on the show room floor. “May I help you?” this tall young blonde man asked her. “Yes, I am here to apply for the job available” The man shook his head, “Im Dale, follow me then” Jinny walked into an office “Oh great, more offices..” she said lowly. Dale went over to this big, bald guy. He looked pretty important. Jinny looked at his hands, ‘Big diamond rings on every finger…’ she said to herself. “Hello! I see you are here for a job. I hope you know its as a sales person. May I see your resume please?” “Uh, sure?” Jinny walked over to the guy, and as Dale left he winked at her. She gave him a fake smile and put her resume on his desk. “The names Robert Toyota. Coincidence, I sell ‘toyotas’!” Jinny gave him a fake laugh and weird look. “Im Jinny Exstead…That’s my resume there” “Yes, I know” Robert said. “Woah! Inspector for 7 years! How was that job?” Jinny nodded, “Fine..” “I’d expect a little more than fine from an inspector, but we all have our own opinions, right?” Jinny nodded again, “Right…” After a few minutes the man took off his glasses. “Everything looks good here, welcome to the ToYoTa team!” He handed her a shirt and nameplate “Just write your name on there” Jinny made a little face “I have to wear this shirt?” Robert nodded, “You applied, you got it, got to follow my rules here” Jinny smiled a little. “Be back in three days to start, okay Jinny?” “Okay, Mr. Toyota” “Toyota!!” Robert said as he laughed and Jinny walked out of the car dealer. “Damn, I hope he aint on anything” she said to herself and went home.
