Someone's going to have a huge overdue fine. A book has been returned to the Centre College Library in Danville, Ky., -- 185 years after it was checked out. The book is the second in the volume of a collection called "Ancient Civilizations." It was discovered at the nearby Kentucky School for the Deaf with an inscription saying it was first put in the library in 1828. The school believes it was checked out in the 1850's, because someone wrote the date "July 21, 1854" in the book. The library staff tallied up the late fee, and at 10 cents a day, someone owes the library $6,000.

That's crazy. Lincoln wouldn't even be US president for another 7 years! Or if you want to go by the publication date, 30+ years. I'd love to see that book - I'm not interested in ancient civilization, but it's fun to look at old books. See how things were done back then. :) Whew, that means that book is nearly 200 years old now!! :crazy:

I can only imagine how fragile the pages of that book are since it's so old.
