:wave: In another thread of "The Lucy Show" about the children who portrayed the roles of the kids of "Lucy Carmichael" and "Vivian Bagley," another member wrote he discovered information Ralph Hart (who portrayed "Sherman Bagley," son of Vivian Vance's character "Vivian Bagley") had been a professional dancer before and/or during his stint on the series. I do recall Hart showed his dancing ability on some episodes of "The Lucy Show." One was the second (titled "Ethel Merman & The Boy Scout Show") of the two-parter from Season 2 with guest star Ethel Merman, in which Hart performs an acrobatic dance number that features some amazing handstands and back flips.
But I recall another episode of "The Lucy Show" in which Hart also dances, I think in the context of an audition that takes place in the living room of the "Lucy Carmichael" home. But that scene was edited out of syndicated broadcasts, leaving only a brief moment of Hart dashing up (or down) the staircase wearing a ballet costume (leotard & tights). Unfortunately, I do not recall the title of that episode, nor which season it originally aired. I am guessing it had to be from Seasons 1 or 2, though, as in Season 3 the screen times of the kids were cut back significantly, anticipating the major format changes to come in succeeding seasons of the series.
Perhaps some others here may remember this other scene of Ralph Hart dancing on "The Lucy Show," and in which episode it was featured? I am thinking I may have seen this as one of the extras of a deleted scene on one of the DVD sets.
Given there are at least these two scenes of Ralph Hart dancing on "The Lucy Show," this information from the other thread about Hart having had a dance background seems plausible, the show's writers obviously exploiting this other talent of the young actor in the series.
I am sure other Lucy and dance fans would also be interested in finding more about Ralph Hart's dance training, if anyone out there knows where this information would be obtained. Perhaps there is even some other film or video of Hart dancing, in addition to those moments on "The Lucy Show?" It is obvious from that number on the Ethel Merman episode Hart didn't just acquire that ability for one episode, the grace and physical dexterity demonstrated obviously indicative of some previous, serious dance training. I also think Hart was the better and more convincing of the three younger actors on the series.
