In the season 3 episode odd man out kevin is only being friends with doug only because he appears to be rich and have lots of candy and toys, then he causes doug to break his arm by not paying attention to the airplane, then he insults and humiliates doug at lunch, in the next couple of episodes we see doug and kevin as friends, do you think doug should not have been friends with kevin since he was rude to him at times ???

I don't think it was ever the writers intention to portray Doug Porter as some kind of rich kid.
I liked how the writers gave Doug a bit of a backbone in the later episodes when he was friends with Tommy Kissling. Doug even had a go at Kevin once or twice which he deserved.

Yeah but kevin thought as doug as a rich kid because he had lots of toys and candy's in his room,Tommy Kissling respected doug as a friend and was not ashamed to be seen with him in public unlike kevin who ended up having no friends towards the end of the episode which in desperation he wants to be friends with paul again lol

Yes, I believe Doug's parents were more well to do than Kevin's were. But Kevin saw, shortly after hanging out with Doug, that Paul was his true friend and him and Doug had little in common
