Get the Picture or Guts/Global Guts?

His youth (I think he was 25 at the time?)/inexperience really showed itself on "Get the Picture," as he would get terribly impatient and irritable with the players.

Even if they give stupid answers or engage in stupid antics, he seemed to forget they were kids and it showed a lack or professionalism on his part that Game Show hosts should have. As the kids were likely just nervous, a good emcee (I.E. Marc Summers on Double Dare) would have instead assured them that they have nothing to be nervous about by expressing empathy and then using what they know about the contestant to let their personalities shine (via. some lighthearted jokes or banter, engaging the audience, etc.).

Also, he would sometimes stumble over reading the questions/answers.

He was pretty good on Guts, although he didn't do much emcee-ing as he did commentary and interviewing (also, he had a co-host). I think with Mike being a huge sports, the fact that it was a physical challenge game show probably played a huge part in how good of a job he did hosting Guts.
