You can't compare Britney to Miley. Britney actually had a routine and great choreography. Miley was just gyrating around randomly and molesting Robin Thicke. I haven't seen Madonna's performance, so I can't comment on that.

I like Milely, but she's trying way too hard. That sticking-out-the-tongue thing she's doing just looks silly. In her he post-Hannah life, she's trying to be "rebellious." But there's no real point behind any of it- doing it just to do it, like a lot of female pop acts in the wake of Madonna (who did have a point with what she did in her work, whether it be the music, performances or videos).

It might has already been said, but Miley Cyrus wanted to escape the "Hannah Montana" mode.

Her act was wayyyyyyyy over the top. It just was. I wasn't insulted or bothered by it, but I do not have young teen daughters looking at her performance either. I do not have children (I wanted to, but I and my wife never conceived), but especially with a young teen daughter who got her secret monthly handshake, I would have little problems talking about sex, what sex is, what sex can be, and the emotional implications of that.

I would also like to note for the record that Madonna never went that far with her act. But Madonna is the throne that people like Miley, Lady Gaga and Beyounce and others want to reach.

Celebrity DBI, an independent index that "quantifies and qualifies" consumer perceptions of 3,082 celebrities (actors, musicians, models, athletes and politicians) measured her impact in appeal, aspiration, breakthrough, endorsement, influence, trend-setter and trust. In December 2010 she was in the top 3% in influence and trend-setter and top 23% for endorsement. As of last month, She is in the bottom 1% for appeal, aspiration, breakthrough, endorsement and trust. She is also in the bottom 20% for influence and trendsetter.

Here are more statistics:

- For men and women over 55 -- only 1 percent report liking her a lot.
- In the 13-17 age group, 35 percent say they dislike her a lot.
- In the 18-24 age group, a whopping 43 percent dislike her a lot.

Among those angered by her behavior include the younger generation who grew up with her as Hannah Montana. Her teen girl audience no longer identifies her or finds her appealing or inspirational. The older demographic no longer considers her a positive role model for the youth of today. In June, over 2,400 parents named Cyrus and Chris Brown as the worst celebrity role models.

In August, Time had an article written by a mother to her daughter, who said: "This is what happens when you constantly hear everything you do is awesome. This is what happens when people fawn over your every Tweet and Instagram photo. This is what happens when no responsible adult has ever said the word 'no,' made you change your clothes before leaving the house, or never spanked your butt for deliberate defiance."

Miley wants to leave her Disney image behind but is she going about it all wrong?

I think more than anything Miley is a sad little girl who is being used by sleazy adults, to make mega money off of her. I hate to agree with Kathie Lee, but her observation that Larry Rudolph, who was Britney's manager during her meltdown, and is now Miley's manager, was an interesting observation!

I am not saying that Miley is totally without any responsibility for her behavior, but like Lindsey, Justin Beiber, Britney, and many other child stars who are not reaching their "expiration date", and need to transition, they are also the victims of adults using them, and advising them to make the quick buck. All of their parents make money off of their kids, and have no real jobs of their own, and also do nothing to take control of the sleazebags using them when they are underaged.

Britney's mom went clubbing with Britney when she was still and underaged kid, so did Lindsey's. Britney's mom let her be used in a provocative way with the little school girl outfitls and other routines that were IMO exploitive of a kid her age. Lindsey's parents lived off of her and talk about her to the media, and show no loyalty to her privacy.

Beiber's mom, who is supposedly so wonderful, also did nothing to take any control of who he hung out with when he was still underaged, and she lives off of him too.

Miley's dad - the one hit wonder- revived his career off of his kid! I also remember him talking about that provacative photoshoot back when she was a teen. He said he left the photoshoot, came back and low and behold- his daugher was taking barely dressed pics! He said he couldn't stop it! Really??? She was underaged! He also then said she had to "transition".

Of course these parents have no interest in keeping their kids' careers clean and safe, they are living off of them, and the money will run out if their kids do not have a career past their childhood star status.

Now Miley's mom and dad praise her and applaud her degrading, disgusting behavior, that is most likely all set up by the sleazebags in her management and record company to make bucks off of her before she fades away. Same goes for Beiber's mom, and the other sleazy rappers around Miley and Beiber, who are sucking money off of them.

I think no matter how smarta$$ Miley or Justin are, they come across like sad kids who look ridiculous with their tough street acts.

But, I think Miley and the others are a sad representation of what has always happened to child stars. Kids were always used like the "Our Gang" kids and others.

If they do not have protective parents - and even if they do- the entertainment industry takes away their normal childhood, and then gets a confused young adult and makes them believe that they are somehow really edgy and cool, when in fact they are on the way to crash and burn.

I think a good example of a parent who protected her kid, was Justin Timberlake's mom, and it shows.

I am not a prude, but it seems like more and more entertainment is just uncreative, tacky and sleazy, and MIley is being advised that that is the way to go.

When I turn on network sitcoms -which I rearly do since I think most are moronic- the sexual innuedos are flying out every two seconds, while a brain dead "live" audience laughs like crazy.

No longer do writers, singers or anyone in entertainment have to show real talent, and if they do have it, they have to disguise it behind some weirdo image like Lady Gaga, or over sexed imaged - or else they don't get noticed.

Too bad the Today show doesn't give Adelle the kind of press they give Miley, and we don't talk about her performaces for a month after they happen!

I agree with JR1. Its not that Miley is trying to be sexy and gangster, its the fact she does it every two seconds. Literally every 2 seconds, shes shaking her ass or sticking out her tongue. She's trying wayyy to hard.

To be clear, sex in itself is not a bad thing. It all depends on the context. When in the context of marriage between husband and wife, that's perfectly fine and that's the only context it should be employed in.
I don't care for exhibitionism and promoting sexual promiscuity though.

It's very sad- I remember reading through Miley Cyrus' book once a while back where she made a stance for Christ; it seems she has fallen away from her faith in Jesus at this point, presuming it was truly there to begin with. But rather than rail on Miley, I think the best thing to do is pray for her and her family.

Miley Cyrus. Those two words by themselves have a multitude of connotations to them. Miley Cyrus can bring many things to your mind; Hannah Montana, another Disney kid gone wild, twerking (or bad twerking I should say), and many other (not necessarily good) things. So where exactly did Miley Cyrus go wrong? After reading the Brand.com reviews, I think I have a better take on what happened.

Brand.com reviews someone's online presence and uses special online reputation management technology to help control the search engine results page. They help you maintain a good reputation online. And I believe that if Miley had some kind of influence in her life to help her re-brand herself, then she wouldn't be in the place she is now. It's kind of the same tragic tale: A young, innocent girl rises to stardom through Disney Channel, and as soon as that phase is over, she desperately wants people to view her as a mature adult. So what does she do? She wears less clothing, she sings more provocative songs and takes on more sexy acting roles.

Honestly, there isn't anything wrong with wanting to mature in your career -- that's natural. Where Miley went wrong, is that she went from one extreme to another. That's a common problem with Disney -- they try so hard to keep the image of their stars squeaky clean, and then when they leave Disney they are so branded that the only thing people can view them as is whatever role they were on Disney. In Miley's case, she will forever be Hannah Montana, no matter how much hip-thrusting, foam-fingering or twerking she does.

When Miley first tried to re-brand herself with "Can't Be Tamed" no one bought it. It was trying entirely too hard. So after a few years off, she came back, she cut her hair, and she lost all judgment. At first, I wasn't too worried about Miley's comeback, I thought the haircut was good for her, and thought maybe she was going to try a more mature approach at "growing up." But no, I was wrong. I think where Miley went wrong was she became too desperate. That became blatantly obvious during her performance at the VMAs.

First off, she came out with a hairstyle that can only be comparable to Cynthia, Angelica Pickle from the Rugrat's favorite doll. Wardrobe wise, she wore a teddy bear themed leotard with apparent plastic undergarments underneath. Which, for those of you who have seen the flood of vines, Instagram posts and memes know... did not flatter her body at all. We won't go into any more detail than that.

As for her performance, words cannot describe it besides: train wreck. She came out doing strange gestures with her tongue, hip-thrusting and her version of twerking (her incorrect version I might add). She was so busy shaking her hips in the crowd's faces and putting her face in women's butts that she barely sang her song "We Can't Stop." Isn't the whole point of a performance at a music awards show to sing? It was just a pitchy, tone-deaf mess. Not to mention her completely upstaging Robin Thicke when he came out to perform his song "Blurred Lines." Grinding on a married man, Miley? I understand you want to be seen as a mature adult but that isn't how you do it. Her performance, in my opinion, actually made her look more like a child. A true mature adult doesn't have to prove that they are one, they just are. They act and behave like a mature adult. And rubbing a foam finger on your private parts in front of millions of people and on live television when you are an engaged woman is not behaving like an adult. Miley wants to be a role model to young girls but if this is how she wants young girls to behave then I feel sorry for any girl gullible enough to believe that that is how a woman with dignity acts.

It goes without saying that if people didn't question Miley Cyrus before, they are now. It seems that wherever Miley goes, controversy will follow. Even I am fully convinced now that whatever comeback she is trying to make happen will only be short-lived. Just recently she tweeted about calling a paparazzo a "c**t" and even laughed about it. And let's not forget to mention her new video for "Wrecking Ball." The video starts out at just a close-up on Miley. For a minute, you believe this is going to be a nice, emotional, heart-wrenching video. But no. Only a few seconds later we see Miley riding on a wrecking ball completely naked. Not only was it highly inappropriate, but it took away the meaning from what really could have been a great video. That is what I mean by being an adult shouldn't have to be a conscious effort. The song already had more mature concepts and meaning, but she just had to throw in sexual content because that's just what adults do, right?

In this new musical era where social media status is key to your career, how you portray yourself on the Internet is your entire brand. Maybe Miley could use some help from Brand.com. Reviews don't lie, and right now her reputation is going down the drain. I truly hope that Miley will come out of that little bubble of false confidence soon and realize that she is going down a path that she won't be able to throw a blonde wig on to get herself off of.

The daughter of country legend Billy Ray Cyrus (I have Achy Breaky Heart on my iPod and I am not ashamed of it), she could sing and act, and won a slew of awards and nominations for her double role of Miley Stewart and Hannah Montana. She was able to build a musical career under the name Miley Cyrus and became an icon for tweenage girls everywhere.

And then….

You may not have heard, but Miley Cyrus caused a bit of a stir with her performance at the VMAs in August 2013. Gyrating around the stage in flesh-coloured underwear and grinding against an obviously very happy Robin Thicke, she couldn’t have been more at odds with her Hannah Montana, good country girl image. Tongue lolling from her mouth, she skipped happily about performing obscene gestures with a foam hand and singing really rather badly. But do you know what? Miley Cyrus achieved exactly what she set out to do that night: get tongues wagging (apart from her own). And then she released Wrecking Ball, which is actually a brilliant song, and proved that she does actually have the song-writing talent to hold her own in the music business, even aside from the new image.

However… Cast your mind back to 2010, when Miley first tried to cast aside her TV persona. Not many people seem to remember but she has been trying really hard to disassociate herself from Hannah Montana in favour of a sexier adult version for the last four years, and she started by releasing the song Can’t Be Tamed, Miley’s declaration of adulthood with a video featuring oh-so-subtle imagery of her in a cage and with empowering lyrics about going through guys like money and how if you hold her back she might explode.

In fairness to her, it must be hard when the public has a pre-conceived image of you that is nothing like what you really are, but there are better ways to express yourself than by claiming “Have to get my way, yep/Twenty-four hours a day/Cos I’m hot like that.”

Last week The O2 in England hosted a bizarre, X-rated show, the likes of which the venue has surely never seen before. On the plaza outside, video screens advertised future gigs from Il Divo and Barry Manilow while inside a 50ft dog shot lazers from its eyes, a giant bed spawned a menagerie of skimpy clad freaks and a cone-titted dwarfs who writhed around with each other before breaking into a Glee-style synchronised dance routine. John Kricfalusi, the Ren and Stimpy creator, debuted a series of terrifying animations featuring dildo limbs and bestiality. A magic mushroom trip was recreated with Jim Henson style monsters and members of the audience were invited to passionately make out with each other in an attempt to appear in front of a voyeuristic roving camera.

This was not some kind of Irvine Welsh curated theme park or a retrospective in contemporary erotic art. This is the Bangerz tour, and sitting atop this beautiful cacophony of insanity, is Miley Cyrus.

If Hemsworth is hoping that Cyrus has toned down her public persona since their breakup, he’s in for a rude awakening. In fact, by all accounts, Cyrus has remind as wild and outrageous as ever. Take the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, for example, where she showed up in an outfit that left little to the imagination, sang a song about weed, and got into a now-infamous fight with Nicki Minaj. The following month, she gave a candid interview to Rolling Stone, during which she declared that “weed is the best drug on earth” and “Hollywood is a coke town, but weed is so much better. And molly, too.” Oh, and just this week, she posted a photo of herself on the toilet to Instagram. That pretty much says it all.

This would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.
