View Full Version : Reboot Martial Law?
irehtman 07-25-2013, 11:23 AM Anyone remember this show called "Martial Law"? I understand it was a good show, but truncated too strongly. I understand this show was supporting Chuck Norris' struggling acting career.
If they reboot "Martial Law" in the future, this time, it will become an independent show going beyond two seasons!

It was on for 2 years and had Arsenio Hall. It was tvs' answer to the Rush Hour movies. I would love to see a reboot.
factsoflife 07-25-2013, 10:34 PM I see no need for a reboot of a show that was only marginally successful to begin with. It wasn't a top rated show and was never well received by viewers or critics.

Martial Law would have been a top rated show if:
1) Not too much truncation.
2) Act as an independent show.
3) Not to support Chuck Norris' struggling acting career.
In the future, we may have to get this show rebooted and this time get more viewers and critics.

Why do you keep bringing up Chuck Norris? He wasn't the star of the show, he only did a guest appearance when they did a crossover with the show Chuck Norris WAS the star of Walker Texas Ranger.
irehtman 07-26-2013, 11:22 AM I know he is a star of Walker Texas Ranger show and I know Martial Law is a good show also, but the Walker Texas Ranger show was struggling frequently back then.
But all I can tell that Martial Law is supporting BOTH the Walker Texas Ranger's popularity and Chuck Norris' struggling acting career.
If they reboot Martial Law in the future, then, this time, Martial Law will be an independent show and it will not get overtruncated too often.
MacLeaper 07-26-2013, 11:45 AM For the record, I loved watching Martial Law on CBS back when it aired on Saturday nights, along with Early Edition and Walker, Texas Ranger. Those three were my usual Saturday night mainstays. (It also marks the last shows I regularly followed on network television. Early Edition is by far one of my all time favorites and I was so sad when CBS cancelled it......)
Martial Law did indeed do a cool crossover episode with Walker, Texas Ranger- I remember watching that when it first aired.
Unfortunately, while Martial Law has not made it to DVD, the Season 7 episode of Walker, Texas Ranger that features the character of Sammo Hung is available on DVD, as that entire series has been released to DVD in Region 1. (Except for the follow-up TV-movie, unfortunately.)
And if CBS would ever release Seasons 3 and 4 of Early Edition to DVD, you could also see Sammo Hung show up as his character Sammo Law there, as he made a crossover appearance on Early Edition as well, in a great Season 3 episode called "Play It Again, Sammo".:)

What I am saying Torgo is reasonable, not craziness!
icecream 07-30-2013, 03:49 PM Martial Law happened to lead into Walker Texas Ranger for two seasons when Walker was already an established hit. It has NOTHING to do with Chuck Norris' success.
irehtman 07-30-2013, 04:20 PM I don't know about this. It looks like Martial Law was being supportive and dependent on the Walker Texas Ranger show and Chuck Norris' struggling acting career.
Chuck Norris was in the movies before ending up As Walker, now he needs to return for movie fame very strongly!
Fleet 07-30-2013, 05:29 PM What "struggling acting career?"
"Walker, Texas Ranger" was a popular show for the 8 years it aired.
If anything, "Walker" helped "Martial Law" in the ratings, not the other way around. BTW, I watched both when they originally aired.

Bringing Chuck Norris from movie to a series is a bad sign, but my father notices that Chuck is horrible actor and my father is strict on prefering Sammo and Martial Law rather than Chuck and Walker, Texas Ranger instead!

The is your father's opinion, about both Chuck's acting and which was the better show. Chuck certainly isn't the best actor ever, but he is far from the worst.
I was very glad to see Chuck move from movies to a series because there was more of him to watch. "Walker, Texas Ranger" was like watching a shortened Chuck Norris movie every week!

An actor or an actress in a movie moves into a series seems like a bad sign. But it looks Chuck is having acting problems when that happens. "Martial Law" was a good show also and my father likes Sammo Hung as a better actor than Chuck Norris. But when "Martial Law" became overtruncated on its second season and then had a crossover with "Walker Texas Ranger" brought up, and finally cancelled, then it turns out that "Martial Law" was trying to support Chuck Norris' struggling acting career and help Chuck return to the movies immediately! I know Chuck is more well-known than Sammo, but please do not object me at all!
