Am I the only one getting these pop-up ads for Colonize.com? They seem to have started popping up more when the site was redone. I'm just curious if it's something I just need to deal with (which is ok) or if there is a way to shut them off/down/etc.

Thanks kids....:happyface

This site and the message boards are ad supported.. simply stated if I don't have ad revenue, I couldn't afford to maintain them.

The Colonize ads should only be popping up once per browser session, if they are popping up more then that then you might consider upgrading your browser to the newest version.

Those pop-up stoppers may or may not work, if you feel the need then use them.

I know they are annoying and I dislike them myself when I visit other sites, but I would be throwing away money if they don't run.

TJ --

I figured as much (about the site being ad supported). I appreciate you letting us know what the scoop is. I may try that "Pop Up Stopper" thing.

Thanks again...

Don't use those pop-up killer programs for this site. We have to help TJ out! My website is a free domain and it has pop-ups, I guess you could use the pop-up killers for that, but please not for this site. We have to help TJ, not harm him.

What would it do to this website? I'm confused?

The point is that it would limit my revenue and my ability to continue to upgrade the server and promote the message boards and bring more people to them.

Pop-up ads are everywhere.. Yahoo, ESPN, CNN, and many more - you need to adjust to them. If it affects your enjoyment, then get one of the pop-up killers but many of those will slow down your system or are bundled with 'spy ware' like Morpheus and Kazaa and the rest..

Your questions have been answered, so I'm closing this thread.

If anybody would like to discuss this further, please e-mail me.
