Wouldn't it be great if they included some brand new bonus materials and corrected episodes?!

If they did HD transfers, I'm sure the audio issues with "TV or not TV" will be corrected. I don't know what could be done with the end of "The Sleepwalker," but I look forward to any improvements.

The only bonus I would like to see is giving the viewer the option to watch these episodes in color too! I think it's time. We really have come a long way where they are now able to master perfect colonization and on Blueray? And away we go...........

"Colonization on Blueray?" How about colonizing life on the moon?

Colorizing the Classic 39?? :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused:

No way they would spend the kind of money it would cost to colorize every episode on top of the restoration costs. What I'm curious about is the "wealth of special features" this collection boasts. Any surviving footage that was cut before broadcast would be great to see. They found deleted scenes from I Love Lucy in the CBS vaults, so that's not too far-fetched. It would also be nice if they could restore the original audio from "The Babysitter." I can't think of much beyond that, aside from Emmy footage, though Art Carney's 1956 acceptance speech would be the only one relevant to this particular set.

Hell no on color! Ever seen Bewitched in color? It looks awful! Black and white is the way to go!

They colorized "Lucy Goes To Scotland" for the "I Love Lucy" DVD set.
The reason they colorized it was CBS wanted all shows airing 2/20/56 to be filmed in color. TV Guide printed an add saying it was filmed in color. William Paley decided at the last minute it was too costly to do.

TimeLife also colorized "Lucy's Italian Movie" for their "Best of" DVD set.

I've seen "Lucy Goes To Scotland" and they did a hell of a job on it. It looks like it was filmed in color.

While I agree they should not waste time or money colorizing the entire 39, quite frankly, colorizing 1 or 2 episodes I think would be a nice bonus.

If I had to choose episodes to colorize, I would base this costumes & scenery/sets.

For costumes: The Golfer, The Man from Space, Trapped, Dial J for Janitor.

For scenery/sets: The Sleepwalker, Better Living Through TV, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, The $99,000 Answer, Unconventional Behavior, The Bensonhurst Bomber.

If I had to choose 2:

The Man From Space & The Sleepwalker.

We'd see that great costume & the Norton's bedroom in color.

Here you go

$75 is pretty high though but I think the price will reduce a few days before it is released though

ChrisTV

For $75. bucks. There better be 5 discs of bonus features.
Quite frankly I don't know how much clearer/cleaner these 50's shows can be on blu-ray. I know they can fit more content on each disc.
$75. bucks is way too high!!

The complete restored series was below $75 and has a lot more content and bonus features. I bet it goes for $50 most of the time but still, way to high.

Here it is, almost a month away from the official release and we still haven't got more info on what the wealth of bonus features this set supposedly has. I sure hope they are good.

They probably do not want to let people know Sue Ane Langdon was Alice once, too.

Was hoping for "The Big Sell" skit with Gleason and Carney. It is a good sketch and worth releasing.

Hopefully this is not the only bonus materials and more items will become available. For this price the bonus materials should be more plentiful ... and more varied then a lot of material already available.

I would hope it's some extras because it would be considered a pointless release

I wrote to Paramount asking iif there are going to be more features. This is the reply:

"Hello,

Unfortunately, I cannot give out that information until it’s posted publically.

Thank you,

Paramount Consumer Customer Service."

Makes me wonder if there will be more.

Has there been an official press release? I searched & don't see one.

1st date was October 2013. Then March 2014, Then April 2014.

Hmmmm, I wonder what they are planning!?

So the prices (as of 5/13/14) for I Love Lucy & Andy Griffith have already dropped $15.00 to $59.99.

Lucy: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00H5NY6CI/ref=nosim/happydaysonline8-20

Andy:

Classic 39 still at $75.00:

Has anyone bought the set?
Opinions?

REVISED. As of 5/20, the prices have increased back to $75. per season for all 3 shows. Wonder why Amazon lowered the Lucy & Andy sets & then increased them again?

I have been wondering if the audio in "TV or Not TV" is fixed on the Blu, as well as how the last few minutes of "The Sleepwalker" now looks.

It would be awesome if they fixed those flaws.

The audio issue with "TV or Not TV" appears to have been fixed, but I haven't compared it to the other episodes yet. The end of "The Sleepwalker" was greatly improved, though. Definitely not as dark/muddy as previous versions. I'm happy with the set overall, but a few more extras would've been nice.

ChrisTV

Any of the following would have been nice extras. All available on the Lucy Blu-Ray set. Any one of these could have easily been put together.

* Audio commentary on any episode.
* New interviews.
* Cast & guest cast bios.
* Production notes.
* Flubs.
* Photo gallery.
* Before and After (Restoration Demo).
* Behind The Scenes.
