Mary-Louise Parker quits acting over mean internet comments

It's common knowledge in this day and age: if you don't want to be sad/hurt/disappointed/mad/etc., don't read the internet comments. That's a lesson Mary-Louise Parker learned the hard way.

"I'm not really that into [acting] anymore," the "Weeds" star told News Corp Australia. "The world has gotten too mean for me, it's just too b****y. All the websites and all the blogging and all the people giving their opinion and their hatred ... it's all so mean-spirited. It's all so critical."

Parker says her decision to quit acting is motivated by both her disdain for mean internet commenters as well as concern that her two young children would be exposed to "such hatred."

Before she quits acting for good, Parker said she'd like to "do a couple more plays" and possibly a movie appearance or a TV show if offered, but she's "almost done acting." Once she quits, Parker plans on writing her own comments for a change. "I would write, still," Parker said. "I write for Esquire and writing makes me happy. I would take care of my kids and my goats. That's about it. Bake. Throw my internet in the lake."

WOW.

Hopefully, other good actors won't do the same over mean Internet comments, as that means everyone would quit acting!!! :eek: :eek: :eek:

She is a idiot

All she has to do is just ingore the comments

I doubt she will quit for long since she will probably need the $$$

I would be surprised if this ends up being permanent. It's just how she's feeling at the time. She's a brilliant actress, and while some people might have made negative comments toward her on the internet, even more have praised her. It seems like she would almost have to take the time to search out the negative ones.

I was recently at a panel in which Cerina Vincent was one of the guests. She said that she can't help but look up mean things that have been said about her on the internet. She even shared that she once saw a post on IMDb that stated she was so horrible that she should be living in a dumpster. Thankfully, that didn't stop her from acting!

Her comments surprise given that actors deal with so much rejection in their careers that you would think she would have developed a thicker skin by now to deal with negative comments. This makes me think there is more behind her "threat" to to quit acting than what she is saying.
