View Full Version : "Man Polly" You're in the b/w episodes too!
Hazel Anyday 07-16-2013, 03:23 AM Call me crazy, and I may be wrong, but I believe I've seen Polly in at least 2 episodes from the b/w years. She is one of the girl students sitting behind a desk in ROBBIE's classroom. She has no lines, but you can see her off to the left and behind Robbie and she looks just like Polly to me. I may be mistaken, but if it's not Polly she must have a twin sister.
biffbronson 08-26-2014, 08:08 PM Reportedly Ronne Troup was cast as Polly on the strength of her Family Affair appearance (the ep where Cissy and friends go away to a ski lodge and there's a big storm in the area).
Here's Ronne:

Of course her Family Affair ep was later on, in the color era, but if the Fedderson production people had been giving her small roles in the b/w My Three Sons, that just shows that she was around and someone they had connected with. Good eye!
Bonniegirl 08-26-2014, 08:49 PM I liked Polly!! I haven't seen the eps with her in so long! I wonder why MeTV doesn't have the rights to the final season? I wish they would show the first seasons with Bub and Mike too!
biffbronson 08-27-2014, 05:24 AM My Three Sons was broken into 2 syndication packages, and to this day it affects how we're presented the series on networks like MeTV. The seasons you're asking for were part of one package. Here's the breakdown:
Seasons 1-5, 11, 12 (includes entire b/w era, and the final 2 seasons of Chip & Polly married and Rob absent from S12)
Seasons 6-10 (Color starts, Ernie joins the family, move to CA, Rob & Katie married, triplets, Steve & Barbara married)
For me, having Tina Cole, Beverly Garland, and Ronne Troup all in those final seasons is pure heaven -- such a shame that S11 and S12 rarely air.

Steve , Robby and Chip all seemed to like blondes ! ;) Polly's was a darker blonde but still blonde. Only brunette gal in the show was the little girl Dodie. :)
biffbronson 08-27-2014, 10:24 PM Another blonde lady who married into the Douglas Family was Terri Dowling (Anne Francis, best known as "Honey West"), a cocktail waitress who married Steve's cousin Fergus very late in the series. Longest I've seen Anne's hair, really lovely.
Eldest son Mike Douglas' (Tim Considine) wife Sally Morrison (Meredith MacRae) started out as a brunette, but I think her hair color had become lighter by the time Season 6 began and she made her only CBS/color appearance of the series. Incidentally, Sally's father was played by Sebastian Cabot, who went on to Family Affair.
It would've been neat for Tim, Meredith, and Sebastian to come on again -- it's such a shame that Tim was absent for the weddings of Robbie, Steve, and Chip.
And Doris Singleton played the mother of both Sally and Polly, so although she was playing 2 different characters, you might say that Mike & Chip had the same mother-in-law...! LOL
Mike's old steady Jean (Cynthia Pepper) was also blonde. IIRC, she came back once after Mike had met Sally, but was unable to rekindle the flame.
