JamesG 07-12-2013, 06:17 PM Lady Gaga Announces 'ARTPOP' Release Date
by Kyle Anderson
July 12, 2013
Lady Gaga has been keeping a low profile since February while she’s been recovering a torn labrum in her hip, an injury that required surgery and forced her to cancel a number of tour dates. But she’s back, and she’s got some new stuff in store.
In a wordy Facebook post, Gaga announced that her new album 'ARTPOP' will be out on November 11, with a single coming on August 19. Because it’s 2013, there will also be an interactive app that will do…something. It’s unclear, though it will be available on September 1, the same day 'ARTPOP' is made available for pre-sale.
“Built by TechHAUS, the technological branch of HAUS OF GAGA, the app itself is a musical and visual engineering system that combines music, art, fashion and technology with a new interactive worldwide community—’the auras,’” Gaga wrote on Facebook. “Altering the human experience with social media, we bring ARTculture into POP in a reverse Warholian expedition.”
True fact: The “Reverse Warholian” is actually illegal in Texas and Kentucky.

Lady Gaga is set to take the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards stage, her first live performance since undergoing hip surgery in February, the music network just announced.
Gaga will be performing her new yet-to-be-named single -- out August 19 -- off her highly anticipated album ARTPOP, which hits shelves on November 11.
Gaga is no stranger to the VMA stage, where she's performed unforgettable renditions of her hits including a blood-soaked performance of Paparazzi in 2009, as well as her gender bending You & I routine in 2011, when she performed as her alter ego "Jo Calderone."
... And of course, who could ever forget her infamous meat dress in 2010?
In celebration of the forthcoming performance, MTV Hits, MTV's 24-hour music channel, will feature an hour block of Lady Gaga videos and performances from 3-4 p.m. ET/PT.
This year's Video Music Awards -- broadcast live from Brooklyn's Barclays Center in New York City -- airs August 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, on MTV.

JamesG 08-01-2013, 01:02 AM Katy Perry Announces New Album 'Prism' via Giant Gold Truck
by Kyle Anderson
July 30, 2013
In a world full of Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and whatever else the kids are jacking into these days, Katy Perry decided to go really low-tech with her latest publicity stunt.
Yesterday, a giant gold truck was spotted driving around Los Angeles, announcing an October 22 release date for something called 'Prism', which we assume is the title of her new album.
Perry has acknowledged the semi on Twitter (where she promises will make its way to other cities), but offered no other details about the project. Perry is encouraging fans to snap photos of the truck and tweet about them, and Adam Lambert was up to the task.
Provided that 'Prism' is a record and not some sort of Dianetics-esque religious movement, it will be Perry’s third album and her official follow-up to 'Teenage Dream', which tied Michael Jackson’s Bad for the record for most chart-topping singles from the same album ('California Gurls', 'Teenage Dream', 'Firework', 'E.T.' and 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)' all hit number one).
It’s been a week of Perry news:
It was revealed yesterday that she sang back up behind Britney Spears on the latter’s new Smurfs-centric single 'Ooh La La' (Perry reprises her role as the voice of Smurfette in the forthcoming Smurfs 2), and her new fragrance (called “Killer Queen”) is set to arrive in the fall.

8/15/2013
by Ian Bernstein, Jason Lipshutz, Billboard
Almost two months after the release of the highly controversial, yet immensely popular video for her latest single, 'We Can’t Stop', Miley Cyrus has given the world something else to look forward to.
The 20-year-old pop sensation teased her more than 13 million Twitter followers on Thursday, August 15, with a series of messages related to her forthcoming fourth studio album, 'Bangerz'.

For Kelly Clarkson, Christmas will arrive just in time for Halloween with the debut of her first-ever holiday album.
The "American Idol" season-one winner announced that her new release, titled 'Wrapped in Red', will drop on Oct. 29.
"Check out the cover of my Christmas album! I can't wait for y'all to hear it," tweeted Clarkson. "I have been dying to make this album since I was a kid!"
The album, produced by Greg Kurstin, will feature original songs ('Underneath the Tree' and the title track), as well as collaborations with Reba McEntire and Trisha Yearwood on classics including 'Silent Night'. Country singer Ronnie Dunn already revealed on Facebook that he would be involved with the project, as well.
Other songs targeted for 'Wrapped in Red' include 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas', 'Blue Christmas', 'Run Run Rudolph' and 'Please Come Home for Christmas'.
This isn't the first time the 31-year-old Grammy Award winner has covered holiday music. Her versions of 'My Grown Up Christmas List' and 'I'll Be Home for Christma'" are already staples around holiday time, and she lent her voice to Blake Shelton's 'Cheers, It's Christmas' in 2012.

JamesG 08-29-2013, 04:32 PM Paul McCartney Confirms Producers, Shares Track List for 'New'
9/14/2013
by David Greenwald, Billboard
Paul McCartney worked with a number of renowned producers for 'New' -- so many, he couldn't pick just one.
"The original idea was to go to a couple of producers whose work I loved, to see who I got on with best -- but it turned out I got on with all of them!" he said in a statement. "We made something really different with each producer, so I couldn’t choose and ended up working with all four. We just had a good time in different ways."
So his 12-track set will include the productions of Paul Epworth (Adele); Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse), who helmed the Beatles-esque title track and single; Giles Martin, son of producer and "fifth Beatle" George Martin; and Ethan Johns (Kings of Leon, Ryan Adams). Martin executive-produced the album, which was mixed by Mark "Spike" Stent.
While the New single offers a recognizable sound from the pop legend, McCartney says the album will surprise listeners.
"It's funny, when I play people the album, they’re surprised it’s me. A lot of the tracks are quite varied and not necessarily in a style you'd recognize as mine," he said. "I didn't want it to all sound the same."
'New' is due Oct. 15th.
Track Listing:
01. Save Us (produced by Paul Epworth)
02. Alligator (produced by Mark Ronson)
03. On My Way to Work (produced by Giles Martin)

JamesG 09-11-2013, 06:54 PM Miley Cyrus Speaks About 'Wrecking Ball' Video for First Time
by Andrew Asare
Sep 11, 2013
If you’re not one of the over 44 million who’ve already seen Miley Cyrus’ video for 'Wrecking Ball' already, when you take a look, peek into her eyes, not her assets.
At least that’s what the Queen of Twerk stated in her interview with Z100′s Elvis Duran on Wednesday, calling in from a London photo shoot. “I think the video is much more,” she said. “If people get past the point I make, and you actually look at me, you can tell I look more broken than even the song sounds.”
Already garnering over 44 million views on YouTube, earning the record for most views gained in 24 hours, the Terry Richardson-directed clip begins with a close-up of Cyrus’ face as a tear rolls down her cheeks, followed by more provocative imagery of her licking a sledgehammer and swinging naked on a wrecking ball.
Cyrus added, “if people can take their minds off the obvious and go into their imagination and see what the video really means, it is so vulnerable. … If you look at my eyes, I look more sad than actually my voice sounds on the record. It was a lot harder to actually do the video than it was to even record the song. It was much more of an emotional experience.”
As she gears up for the release of 'Bangerz' this October, featuring appearances from Britney Spears, Big Sean, and Nelly, and weathers the controversy and hype surrounding her latest video and MTV VMA performance, Miley’s apparently not sweating it.
“Kind of anything that I do at this point it becomes such this big deal and for me,” she said. “I’m just having fun, and whatever people label it as, it doesn’t really matter, I’m just having fun.”
In other words, she’s just being Miley.

JamesG 10-15-2013, 03:03 PM Britney Spears' New Album has a Title and Release Date
by Kyle Anderson
Oct 15, 2013
Perhaps it’s just the nature of the cycles of pop music, but doesn’t it seem like Britney Spears has been gone for a while? Her last album 'Femme Fatale' came out in 2011, but for some reason it seems like she’s been missing in action for twice that time.
Regardless, Brit is back with a vengeance. Her new album’s first single and video 'Work Bitch' has already dropped, and yesterday she revealed that the new collection, which will be out December 3, is called 'Britney Jean'.
Before you go assuming that she’s making some sort of awesome meta-allusion to Michael Jackson’s 'Billie Jean', just know that 'Jean' is actually Spears’ given middle name.
“It’s a personal album, and all my family, they all call me Britney Jean, it’s like a term of endearment, and I just wanted to share that with my fans,” she told London’s Capital FM yesterday.
Other details are relatively scarce, though we do know that will.i.am is serving as executive producer and that 'Work Bitch' doesn’t necessarily represent the album as a whole.
“That song is a reflection of Britney moreso than the album,” Will told Billboard. “The album is what the album is, but we felt that song needed to come out to keep the foundation on what Britney represents. But it shouldn’t reflect the album—an album is a body of work as a collective. If we had to pick a song like, ‘Oh, what song fits every color of the record,’ you shouldn’t do that… We felt that song represents ‘Piece of Me,’ that Britney oomph.”

ARK Music Factory has done it again! The company behind Rebecca Black's 'Friday' phenomenon has another viral hit on its hands in Alison Gold’s 'Chinese Food'.
The 12-year-old singer’s pop song love letter to Chinese dishes debuts at No. 29 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart and at No. 5 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart. The latter makes it the week’s highest new entry.
Gold has YouTube viewers to thank for the success of her ode to tasty comfort food — her impressive debut on the Hot 100 is due largely in part to the nearly 5 million U.S. streams the video has received on YouTube since being uploaded on Oct. 14.
The track has additionally sold 1,000 downloads as of Oct. 20.
'Chinese Food' was written and co-produced by ARK Music Factory co-founder Patrice Wilson.
Fun fact: He cameos in the music video as a rapping panda bear.

Oct 25, 2013
In a handwritten message posted online today, Britney Spears assures fans that her upcoming album 'Britney Jean' will be “my most personal record yet… I want to show you the different sides of Britney Spears. I am a performer. I am a Mom. I am funny. I am your friend! I am Britney Jean.”
The singer also unveiled the album’s cover art, which features a neon heart on a gray Britney.
Dear Fans,
I haven’t sat down to write you guys in SUCH a long time. Long overdue! We’re all so used to getting our thoughts out in 140 characters, but sometimes its nice to take time to sit down and write something a little longer and more personal. I am putting the finishing touches on my new album, Britney Jean over the next few days and I am so excited for you to hear it.
I poured my heart and soul into this album and it’s been an incredible journey. I’ve learned a lot about myself, and as I am finishing, I am reminded of the incredible foundation that has supported me for the last 15 years.
Thank you all for continuing to follow me on this journey and for allowing me to do what I love to do. I can’t believe this is my eighth studio album and I know I keep telling you that it is my most personal record yet, but its true and I’m really proud of that.
I have been through a lot in the past few years and it has really inspired me to dig deeper and write songs that I think everyone can relate to. Working with people like Sia, William Orbit, and of course Will.i.am has been an amazing experience. They have listened to all of my ideas and helped me bring them to life. There are a lot of really fun, upbeat dance songs, but it was important to me that I show my strength, and my attitude, and my vulnerability.
Of course, I also have some surprises for you guys ;)
I want to show you the different sides of Britney Spears. I am a performer. I am a Mom. I am funny. I am your friend! I am Britney Jean.
Hope you love my labor of love!
Love Always,
Britney

Lady Gaga's 'ARTPOP' flop expected to lose label reported $25 million in marketing costs
Nov. 17, 2013, 5:22 PM EST
By Todd Cunningham
Underwhelming sales for Lady Gaga's new album "ARTPOP" — despite a promo campaign that cost Interscope Records $25 million — is expected to force holiday layoffs at the label, according to a new report.
First-week sales of roughly 250,000 copies are projected for the rock diva's new release, according to a story published at Examiner.com on Saturday.
TheWrap's calls to the singer's reps and Interscope on Sunday weren't immediately returned.
"ARTPOP" could still debut at No. 1, but that would be a 75 percent drop from the first week sales of her hit "Born This Way" two years ago, and that one sold more than a million copies in its first week.
To put that in perspective, Miley Cyrus' "Bangerz" launched with first-week sales of 270,000 last month. Two weeks later, Katy Perry's "Prism" debuted with 286,000 first-week sales. Neither are considered breakout hits.
The soft sales for Gaga's latest, coupled with the massive promo spend, could cause layoffs of between 50 and 100 Interscope employees, most likely around Christmas, according to the report.
The singer's new album could get a boost from her guest hosting stint on "Saturday Night Live." But her last tour failed to sell out, reviews of "ARTPOP" have been mixed and its first single, 'Applause," peaked at No. 5 on the charts.
Interscope Records, based in Santa Monica, Calif., was founded by Jimmy Iovine in 1989 and is a part of the Universal Music Group. The label is home to more more than 100 artists, including Eminem, the Rolling Stones and Madonna.
JamesG 11-25-2013, 11:38 AM Bruce Springsteen Reveals 'High Hopes' Video, Sets Album for January Release (Video)
11/25/13
by Michele Amabile Angermiller
Bruce Springsteen fans will be celebrating the New Year with new music, Columbia Records announced today.
The new record, 'High Hopes', arrives on Jan. 14, and will feature 12 songs familiar to fans of the iconic rocker’s cannon of songs. Produced by Springsteen with Ron Aniello, with other tracks by Brendan O'Brien, the record features musical accompaniment by members of the E Street Band, Springsteen's self-described "muse," as well as Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello and many additional players.
The record is available for pre-order today.
The album -- recorded in New Jersey, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Australia and New York City -- also spotlights some of the last unreleased music featuring saxophonist Clarence Clemons, who passed away in 2011, and keyboardist Danny Federici, who passed in 2008. Springsteen describes these tracks as "some of the best unreleased material from the past decade."
"This is music I always felt needed to be released," Springsteen reveals in the album's liner notes.
Springsteen released the title track via iTunes on Monday, a cover of a song previously available on the 1995 EP 'Blood Brothers' and in the subsequent 1996 documentary of the same name. The song originally was performed by the Los Angeles band The Havalinas.
The new recording features guitar work by Morellom who filled in for Steve Van Zandt during the March 2013 Australian leg of the Wrecking Ball tour (Zandt was filming his Netflix show Lilyhammer).
The remaining 11 tracks include titles that astute Springsteen lovers should recognize, including a re-recording of 'The Ghost of Tom Joad', 'American Skin (41 Shots)' and 'Dream Baby Dream', a song by the group Suicide he covered often on his Devils and Dust tour in 2005.
The album is a grab bag of songs that were left aside from previous albums, such as the song 'Harry’s Place', originally intended for 'The Rising'.
'The Wall', co-written by Pittsburgh musician Joe Gruschecky, was only performed a handful of times live in concert.
Track Listing:
01. High Hopes
02. Harry's Place
03. American Skin (41 Shots)

JamesG 12-13-2013, 12:49 PM Beyoncé Releases Surprise New Album and Videos
Dec 13, 2013
by Sadie Gennis
Beyoncé surprised her fans Thursday night by releasing a new album exclusively on iTunes. The self-titled "visual album" features 14 songs and 17 music videos.
"I didn't want to release my music the way I've done it. I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There's so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans," Beyoncé said in the album's announcement according to The Los Angeles Times.
"I felt like I didn't want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out," she added. "I just want this to come out when it's ready and from me to my fans."
The album features appearances by her husband Jay Z, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams, Drake, The-Dream, Sia, Ryan Tedder, Miguel, Frank Ocean, Hit Boy and even her 1-year-old daughter Blue Ivy.
The album is currently only available on iTunes, but a double disc CD/DVD will be released before the holidays.

JamesG 12-16-2013, 08:35 PM 'Beyonce' Becomes Fastest-Selling Album in iTunes History
12/16/13
by Keith Caulfield, Billboard
Beyoncé's new self-titled release has become the fastest selling album ever on iTunes worldwide, with 828,773 albums sold within its first three days. The album has also broken the U.S. iTunes Store's record for the largest sales week for an album.
According to multiple industry sources, 'Beyoncé' sold 617,000 downloads through the close of business on Sunday, Dec. 15. The album bowed -- without any pre-release announcement -- in the iTunes Store at midnight EST on Friday morning, Dec. 13.
None of its songs are available a la carte (which is likely helping encourage full album purchases). The 14-song set is selling for $15.99 and additionally comes with 18 videos. Fourteen of those are for each of the album's songs.
'Beyoncé' breaks the previous one-week iTunes record, set by Taylor Swift's 'Red' when it sold 465,000 in the week ending Oct. 28, 2012. (The digital version of 'Red' was exclusively sold through iTunes for its first week. It became available to all digital retailers after its first week on sale.)
To note: The music industry tracks weekly sales on a Monday through Sunday basis, hence why 'Beyoncé's' feat is being measured after only three days on sale. 'Red' had seven days of sales in its first tracking week, as it was released on Monday, Oct. 22.
'Beyoncé's' iTunes launch is also the second-largest digital sales week overall -- counting all digital retailers. It's second behind the debut frame of Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way', which sold 662,000 downloads in its first week.
(That number was enhanced by Amazon MP3's decision to sell the set for 99-cents for two days during its first week. Billboard has estimated that Amazon MP3's 99-cent version resulted in 440,000 copies sold.)
'Beyoncé' is all but guaranteed a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 chart this week, giving the diva her fifth consecutive No. 1 (her entire output of albums). The new Billboard 200's No. 1 will be officially announced mid-week.
'Beyoncé' will also lock in the largest sales week for Beyoncé herself, surpassing her previous high, set when second album, 'B'Day', bowed with 541,000 in 2006 (according to Nielsen SoundScan).
Finally, 'Beyoncé' notches the largest sales week of 2013 for a woman, and the biggest since Swift's 'Red' debuted with 1.2 million in October of 2012.

JamesG 04-01-2014, 03:04 AM New Michael Jackson Album Due this May
by Leah Greenblatt
Mar 31, 2014
The King of Pop will be resurrected — at least in the studio. Nearly five years after his death, Michael Jackson’s estate has given Epic Records C.E.O./executive producer L.A. Reid and Timbaland permission to “contemporize” eight previously unreleased tracks for the album 'Xscape', due May 13.
“Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with,” Reid said in a statement on Monday. “We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world.”
There will also be a deluxe edition that includes the original recordings; both the deluxe and original go to iTunes pre-order tomorrow (April 1.)
Jackson still leads the record books as the most successful male solo artist of the modern Billboard era, with 13 #1 hits on the Hot 100 and six #1 album debuts — including 1982′s 'Thriller', which is certified 29 times platinum and remains the best-selling studio album of all time.
This will be his second posthumous release since 2009′s This Is It soundtrack.

JamesG 04-25-2014, 11:47 AM Mariah Carey To Release All-Digital Surprise Album
4/25/14
by Andrew Hampp, Billboard
It's been a long road to Mariah Carey's 14th album -- a project she first began working on in 2010, before the birth of her nearly three-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe -- that has been stalled over the years after stiff-performing singles and numerous tweaks to the track listing.
But, as Billboard exclusively reveals in its latest cover story, Carey will be taking a surprise approach to the project by revealing her new album's title, track listing, artwork and music all at once via to-be-announced digital partners (a physical release at retail is expected the following week.)
"I have to be the one that announces this, especially the title," Carey says, noting that the album takes its name from a "personal possession of mine that's part of an entity that I've had almost all my life."
Though Carey doesn't mention other artists in describing her strategy, it's clear she's taking a page out of the Beyonce playbook. It's a particularly direct parallel when you consider that Beyonce herself was coming off an underperforming album (2011's '4') before opting to go the surprise route -- much in the way that Carey's last album, 2009's 'Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel', produced just one top 10 hit ("Obsessed") and sold a disappointing 549,000 copies, low enough to cancel a planned remix album.
Though last summer's Miguel duet "#Beautiful" was a bonafide hit, peaking at No. 15 on the Hot 100 and selling 1.2 million downloads, a string of other singles ("Triumphant," "Almost Home," "Eternal [You're Mine]") have failed to catch fire along the way.
In the Billboard cover story, out Monday, Carey and her new manager Jermaine Dupri talk candidly about the rocky road to the album's launch – from the failed singles to her drama-plagued stint on "American Idol" in 2013 to the shoulder injury that nearly derailed her plans altogether.
("I really downplayed that incident...")
Here's 5 Things We Learned:
She's Assembled a Dream Team of Collaborators
Frequent collaborators Rodney Jerkins and Dupri are back for Album No. 14, but so is a surprisingly diverse roster that ranges from of-the-moment producers like Hit-Boy and Mike Will Made It, guest features from Wale, Nas and Trey Songz and even contributions from veteran arranger Larry Gold and the Love Unlimited Orchestra.
There's also "a special guest star that I'm not allowed to reveal," Carey teases.
She's Aware of the Failed Singles
Carey will cop to a few of the pre-release singles not doing as well as past hits, pausing to note that 2013's Stargate-produced "Almost Home" was intended for the Oz the Great and Powerful soundtrack.
"You would think I would be all about the singles-driven situation, and I am in a way, but with this particular album I want my fans to hear it as a body of work," she says. "This is my life since we last left off. Just picture a dot dot dot, and then here's the album."
The New Album Won't be her Last
Despite recent comments to Bravo's Andy Cohen on "Watch What Happens Live" ("If this were to be my last album, people would hear everything they needed to hear"), Carey is not calling it quits anytime soon.
"I will always make music. When I said it could be my last, that's because tomorrow's not promised to anyone."
Expect Big Ballads and Uptempo Bangers
After immersing herself in her own catalog ("a friend of mine made me a playlist with 1,000 of my songs on it called 'The Ultimate MC Audio Collection,'" she says), Carey explored her feel-good, hip-hop/R&B side as well as her more introspective moments that could give her fans the best of all worlds.
She May Soon Return to Television
Her rocky stint with Nicki Minaj on "American Idol" last year notwithstanding, Carey says she'd like her next reality-competition venture to be something where she was executive producer.
"I have another project that I'm so very excited about that's finally coming to fruition."

JamesG 05-01-2014, 06:08 PM Mariah Carey Reveals New Album Title, Tracklist, Release Date -- VIDEO
by Ariana Bacle
May 1, 2014
The artwork and track listing for Mariah Carey’s upcoming album is out — along with a May 27 album release date.
Carey recently told Billboard she was planning on taking a cue from Beyoncé by dropping a sort-of-surprise album. This album, titled 'Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse' isn’t really a surprise like Beyoncé‘s self-titled release because, well, she announced it.
But Carey did try to hype up her listeners late Wednesday with a video, which gives some insight into the new album and features what the singer calls the only self-portrait she’s ever drawn.

JamesG 05-05-2014, 02:40 PM Jennifer Lopez Reveals Album Title, Cover Art
5/5/14
by Billboard Staff
Jennifer Lopez' new album will be called 'A.K.A.', and it comes with some seriously steamy artwork. JLo shared her eighth studio album's title and its revealing artwork overnight to her 27.4 million Twitter followers.
The 'A.K.A.' cover art should get pulses racing with its image of JLo in a red vinyl skirt and barely there top. Her tweet also carries the simple message: "coming soon."
The album is expected to be released on June 17.
JLo recently previewed six songs at an intimate brunch in Malibu. "If you listen to my albums, they were always about love. I've always sung about love. It was always love in a certain way, a fairy-tale type of way. I was hoping, praying and wishing for that," JLo told guests.
One of those songs is the second single, 'First Love', which the pop star discusses in a podcast with Billboard. She began recording 'A.K.A.' in February 2013, after finishing her first world tour and divorcing singer-songwriter, Marc Anthony.
The likes of Max Martin and Diplo lend their production skills to the set, while Robin Thicke, Big Sean and Wiz Khalifa are among the big-name collaborators.

JamesG 06-17-2014, 05:15 PM Billy Idol to Release First New Album in Nearly a Decade
6/17/14
by Mitchell Peters, Billboard
Punk rock veteran Billy Idol will release his first new album of original material in October through his own BFI Records via Kobalt Label Services.
Produced by Trevor Horn, the as-yet untitled album will be released around the same time as Dancing With Myself, Idol’s self-penned autobiographical memoir, which is set for publication on Oct. 7 through Simon & Schuster’s Touchstone imprint.
The forthcoming release will be Idol’s first album since 'Happy Holidays' in 2006, and his first of original material since 'Devil's Playground' in 2005. New music is expected to be released later this summer.
'Devil's Playground' reached No. 46 on the Billboard 200 chart and spawned the No. 26 Mainstream Rock Songs hit 'Scream'.
The effort is one of 10 albums for the rocker to chart, and his history includes three top 10 sets: 'Rebel Yell' (No. 6), 'Whiplash Smile' (No. 6) and 'Vital Idol' (No. 10).
During his lengthy career, Idol has earned 16 top 40 hit singles on either the Billboard Hot 100 or the Mainstream Rock Songs charts.
Of those, nine reached the top 10, including his cover of 'Mony Mony' (No. 1 on the Hot 100; No. 27 on Rock), 'Cradle of Love' (No. 1 Rock; No. 2 Hot 100), 'To Be a Lover' (No. 2 Rock, No. 6 Hot 100), 'White Wedding' (No. 4 Rock; No. 36 Hot 100), 'Rebel Yell' (No. 9 Rock) and 'Eyes Without a Face' (No. 4 Hot 100, No. 5 Rock).
His first Billboard chart hit came with one of his most iconic tracks, 'Dancing With Myself'. The tune, first released with his former band Generation X, reached No. 27 in 1981 on the Dance Club Songs chart.
Idol is currently touring through Europe and will continue playing live into 2015.

JamesG 07-07-2014, 02:05 PM Pink Floyd To Release First New Album in 20 Years
by MIRIAM COLEMAN
July 6, 2014
Pink Floyd is about to return with their first album in 20 years.
Polly Samson, the wife of singer-guitarist David Gilmour, surprised fans on Saturday when she casually announced over Twitter that the band has a new record in the works and it's coming out this fall.
"Btw Pink Floyd album out in October is called 'The Endless River,'" Samson wrote. "Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright's swansong and very beautiful." (Keyboardist and founding member Wright died of cancer in 2008 at the age of 65.)
A representative for Gilmour confirmed the release of the album to Rolling Stone.
The band had just celebrated the 20th anniversary of 1994's 'The Division Bell' with an extravagant reissue of the album on July 1st. The new material appears to be connected to unreleased recordings made during the 'Division Bell' sessions.
Durga McBroom-Hudson, a singer who toured with Pink Floyd in the 1980s and 1990s and is apparently involved in the new project, offered more details on 'The Endless River' through her Facebook page.
"The recording did start during The Division Bell sessions (and yes, it was the side project originally titled 'The Big Spliff' that Nick Mason spoke about)," she explained.
"Which is why there are Richard Wright tracks on it. But David and Nick have gone in and done a lot more since then. It was originally to be a completely instrumental recording, but I came in last December and sang on a few tracks. David then expanded on my backing vocals and has done a lead on at least one of them. That's the song you see being worked on in the photo."
She went on to emphasize that the new album will consist entirely of unreleased songs.

JamesG 07-29-2014, 01:48 PM Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett Announce their Album Release
by Ariana Bacle
July 29, 2014
Usually it’s Lady Gaga’s modernist tendencies that grab headlines, but the pop singer is back in the news today thanks to a studio recording of 'Anything Goes' with Grammy-winning jazz singer Tony Bennett.
The duo covered the song, written by Cole Porter for the musical of the same name in 1934, for their upcoming jazz album 'Cheek to Cheek'.
Bennett first performed the song for his 1959 album 'Strike Up the Band', and he has also performed with Lady Gaga before: The duo recorded 'The Lady Is a Tramp' together in 2011.
Bennett and Gaga appeared on "Today" together Tuesday morning to announce the album is officially coming out September 23.

JamesG 08-18-2014, 10:38 PM Taylor Swift Drops 'Shake It Off' Single, Announces Album
8/18/14
by Ashley Lee
nfWlot6h_JM
Taylor Swift is back with new single "Shake It Off," which is quite appropriately titled in light of both its super upbeat tempo and cool, untouchable chorus.
After dropping multiple hints via social media over the past two weeks, the singer gathered fans for a Yahoo/ABC worldwide event on Monday, streaming live from New York City.
"To be honest with you, it's kind of scary up here," she first said from atop the Empire State Building. Once inside a lounge, she revealed the first of three surprises. "I have a new song I'm going to play you in 30 seconds. The idea [behind the song is] that I've had to learn a pretty tough lesson in the last couple of years: People can say what they want about us, at any time ... and we cannot control that. The only thing we can control is our reaction to it. I figure we have two options: We can let it change you ... option two is you just shake it off."
While dancing with the crowd, she then debuted "Shake It Off," complete with a line that talks back — literally, it's a close cousin to rapping at one point — to haters about her endless train of music awards and romantic prospects.
It's a track that sees Swift pairing up again with pop music masters Max Martin and Shellback ("I Knew You Were Trouble," "We Are Never, Ever, Ever Getting Back Together") and has The Hollywood Reporter's music editor Shirley Halperin describing it as "her pop-tastic, up-tempo version of Frozen's 'Let It Go.'"
The Big Machine Records artist also noted that her fifth studio album is on the way, after two years in the works.
"I like to work on albums for two years because two years gives you enough time to grow and change," she said. "I woke up every single day that I was recording this record not wanting, but needing to make a new style of music that I had never made before."
What resulted was an album of rebirth, she said, "the most sonically cohesive album I've ever made," and, after listening to a lot of late '80s pop, one laced with "bright colors, bold chances, rebellion — the idea of that was so inspiring to me."
She revealed that her fifth studio album, and her first official pop album, is called '1989', after her birth year, and will hit shelves Oct. 27. It is currently available for preorder.
Additionally, the 1989 SwiftStakes — "See, it's like sweepstakes but we made it annoying!" — will give away 1,000 tickets and 500 meet-and-greets to lucky fans.
She then unveiled the fan-filled music video for "Shake It Off" which was taped two months ago. "You can tell a lot about a person by how they dance," said Swift of the video.
The singer made the livestream announcement just after the opening weekend of The Giver, in which she briefly appears as the titular character's (Jeff Bridges) former protege Rosemary.
She will take the Forum stage on Sunday during MTV's Video Music Awards, and will also perform at iHeartRadio's annual fest at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sept. 19-20.

JamesG 01-13-2015, 07:55 PM Marilyn Manson's Eerie New LP 'The Pale Emperor' Now Streaming
by Ryan Reed
January 12, 2015
Marilyn Manson's ninth LP, 'The Pale Emperor', is out January 20th, but fans can absorb its bluesy guitar riffs, swampy synths and menacing yelps one week early. The 10-track album is available to stream at Genius, accompanied by the singer's typically mordant lyrics.
Manson created 'The Pale Emperor' in collaboration with Tyler Bates, a musician best known for his soundtrack work for films like Guardians of the Galaxy and TV series including "Californication", where the two met, when Manson was making an on-screen cameo.
The duo's creative chemistry is evident throughout the eclectic album, which sprawls from moody synth drones ('Warship My Wreck') to industrial-rock bombast ('Slave Only Dreams to Be King') to radio-friendly blues-metal ('The Mephistopheles of Los Angeles', which features a galloping, glam-rock beat).
One eerie highlight is the textured 'Cupid Carries a Gun', which serves as the opening credits to the WGN fantasy show "Salem".
'The Pale Emperor' is Manson's first album since 2012's 'Born Villain'. Following that release, the rock iconoclast spent some of his time off the road on acting – including a recent appearance as white supremacist Ron Tully on "Sons of Anarchy" and voice-acting spot as Shadow on the ABC series "Once Upon a Time".
In a recent, highly intimate interview with Rolling Stone, Manson revealed that multiple 'The Pale Emperor' tunes were recorded in a single take. "It's dirty," he said in description of the music, "like the dirt under my nails, like someone who has dug a grave."

by Colin Stutz, Billboard
9/23/16
Less than a month away from Lady Gaga's new album 'Joanne' hitting stores, the Mother Monster has shared the set's track list.
Gaga posted 'Joanne's' deluxe and standard track lists and CD label to Twitter on Friday. The 11-song set is out Oct. 21 and the new info confirms the cameo from Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine that Gaga teased earlier in the week.
Gaga had also said Father John Misty would make an appearance on the album but the track 'Sinner's Prayer' does not include his name.
As well, Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, Beck, Kevin Parker of Tame Impala and Mark Ronson all had a hand in producing or playing on the album -- all of which suggests it's gonna be a rocker.

JamesG 12-19-2016, 06:49 PM Trent Reznor Announces New Nine Inch Nails EP
by Eric Renner Brown
12/19/16
In December 2015, Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor promised the group would release new material the following year. Friday, with little time to spare, Reznor made good on his promise.
In one week, Nine Ince Nails will drop 'Not the Actual Events', a 5-song EP that’s their first new project since 2013’s 'Hesitation Marks'.
“It’s an unfriendly, fairly impenetrable record that we needed to make,” Reznor wrote in a statement. “It’s an EP because that ended up being the proper length to tell that story.”
The EP announcement wasn’t the only piece of Nine Inch Nails news Reznor shared. Beginning with 'Not the Actual Events', he said, composer Atticus Ross has officially joined the band.
Ross worked with Reznor on the scores to multiple films including The Social Network, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl, and, most recently, this month’s new movie Patriots Day.
Additionally, Reznor announced a “very special limited edition” of Nine Inch Nails’ 1999 album, 'The Fragile', which will span four discs and 150 minutes of material, including 37 “instrumental, alternate, and unreleased tracks.”
Titled 'The Fragile: Deviations 1' and created in conjunction with Ross, the release won’t be available on digital services.
“The Fragile occupies a very interesting and intimate place in my heart,” Reznor wrote.
“As an experiment, I removed all the vocals from the record and found it became a truly changed experience that worked on a different yet compelling level. 'The Fragile: Deviations 1' represents Atticus and I embellishing the original record with a number of tracks from those sessions we didn’t use before. The result paints a complimentary but different picture we wanted to share.”
Finally, Reznor shared he has begun crafting “definitive editions” of all Nine Inch Nails albums, with three — 'Broken', 'The Downward Spiral', and 'The Fragile' — being available for pre-order now ahead of spring 2017 release dates.
“We want to present the catalog as it was intended to be, with no compromises,” he noted.

by Jessica Goodman
2/2/17
Blondie are back with their 11th studio album, 'Pollinator', due out May 5 via BMG.
Their first album since 2014’s 'Ghosts of Download', this collection will feature collaborations with major hitmakers like Sia, Dev Hynes, and Charli XCX, as well as stars like Joan Jett, Laurie Anderson, The Strokes’ Nick Valensi, the Smiths’ Johnny Marr, Bob’s Burgers‘ John Roberts, The Gregory Brothers, and Adam Johnston.
But Blondie’s core songwriters, Debbie Harry and Chris Stein, are still at the center of the band’s sound, heard first on the new single, “Fun,” featuring TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek. Heavy on percussion and synth, the track was helmed, like the rest of the album, by Grammy-winning producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Sleater-Kinney Sigur Ros), and recorded at New York’s The Magic Shop studio.
“Quoting Emma Goldman, ‘If I can’t dance I don’t want to be part of your revolution,'” Stein told Pitchfork when premiering the track. “In these trying times we need some fun.” Harry added, “We’re very serious about fun.”

Johnny Marr worked on a song called “My Monster” and Adam Johnston’s track “Fragments” was first heard “as a sample on the Canadian indie artist’s YouTube movie reviews.”
Joan Jett lends her vocals to “Doom or Destiny,” written by Harry and Stein, and John Roberts’ voice is heard on “Love Level.”
The Gregory Brothers appear on “When I Gave Up On You.”

by Derek Lawrence
August 23, 2017
Taylor Swift wasn’t the only big name to reveal plans for a new album Wednesday.
Hours after Swift’s social media teases culminated in the announcement of 'Reputation', Demi Lovato teased 'Tell Me You Love Me', her sixth studio album, which will be released Sept. 29.
The news came via a tweet from Lovato featuring audio of her singing what appears to be the title track from the upcoming record. She also revealed that the album will be available for preorder at midnight Eastern time.
After vowing in October to take “a break from music and the spotlight,” the singer returned last month with the first single from 'Tell Me You Love Me', “Sorry Not Sorry,” which she has described as “an anthem for anyone who’s ever been hated on and has risen above it and come out from the other side like a ****ing savage.”
Lovato is set to sing the national anthem ahead of Saturday’s much-anticipated boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.
Then on Sunday, also from Las Vegas, she will perform remotely as part of MTV’s Video Music Awards.

JamesG 06-15-2018, 02:49 PM Andrea Bocelli to Release First Album of New Material in 14 Years
by Maureen Lee Lenker
June 15, 2018
Andrea Bocelli is back with his first recording of new material in 14 years.
His new album, 'Sì' will be released on Oct. 26 by Decca/Sugar. You can now listen to the first single off the album, 'If Only', which Bocelli will perform on June 21 on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!".
'If Only' was recorded in three languages and was co-written by Francesco Sartori and the late Lucio Quarantotto – who helped pen one of Bocelli’s biggest hits, 'Con Te Partirò (Time To Say Goodbye)', which was released over 20 years ago and has become one of the best-selling singles of all time.
This new album marks a return to Bocelli’s roots, celebrating love, faith, and family. Produced by Bob Ezrin, it was recorded at his home in Italy.
“I wanted to go back to my memories of being a young man, playing at a piano bar,” he said in a statement. “Obviously since then, I’ve produced lots of albums, sung lots of covers, performed many other things. But at a certain point I said to myself: ‘Maybe the time has come to put my effort into finding new songs.’ Like starting all over again, as it were, in my career.”
Bocelli also recorded a duet of 'Perfect' with Ed Sheeran at this home in Italy last December; Bocelli joined Sheeran for a surprise performance of the song Thursday night at London’s Wembley Stadium.

JamesG 06-20-2018, 09:56 PM Paul McCartney Sets New Album 'Egypt Station'
by Rita Thompson, Billboard
June 20, 2018
After hinting at new music and the release of a double A-side single, Paul McCartney on Wednesday revealed his 17th studio album, 'Egypt Station', will be released Sept. 7 on on Capitol Records.
The announcement of the upcoming album, named after one of the former Beatles’ paintings, comes as extremely exciting news to fans who have been waiting almost five years for new McCartney music.
The rock legend's most recent album, 2013's 'NEW', had immense success, and fans can only hope for even greater music this time around.
"Egypt Station starts off at the station on the first song and then each song is like a different location," McCartney said in a statement. "So it gave us some idea to base all the songs around that. I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from.”
McCartney also has released two new tracks — 'I Don’t Know' and 'Come On to Me' — and if they are any indication of what to expect, fans are in for a wild ride of head-banging rock as well as heartfelt ballads.
Both singles, along with the rest of the album, were produced by Greg Kurstin and recorded between Los Angeles, London and Sussex, England.

'Egypt Station' will include a track list of 14 songs, all capturing the essence of the place they were recorded, allowing the listener to find themselves seemingly moving to each destination with the singer-songwriter himself. Featuring everything from acoustic meditation tunes to rockers to a multi-movement closer, the album will be a musical journey with destinations for everyone.

JamesG 03-26-2019, 02:44 AM Inside Marvin Gaye's Never-Released 1972 Album 'You're The Man'
by Todd Gilchrist
March 25, 2019
Marvin Gaye’s career had so many phases, attracted so much attention, and experienced so much critical analysis that it’s hard to believe there’s anything left in his expansive catalog to be explored.
But back in 1972, while testing the boundaries of a $1 million contract signed in the wake of his sociopolitical breakthrough 'What’s Going On', Marvin recorded a sensitive, socially conscious, and flat-out groovy collection of songs that today feels like a Rosetta Stone for the impulsive, restless experimentation that led to later classics like the 'Trouble Man' soundtrack, 'Let’s Get It On', and 'I Want You'.
'You’re The Man', due out March 29 (three days prior to what would have been Gaye’s 80th birthday), collects 17 songs from these sessions for the very first time, featuring classic writing and production work from the likes of Motown luminaries Fonce Mizell and Gloria Jones, three remixes from hip-hop and R&B producer Salaam Remi, and new liner notes by Gaye’s biographer David Ritz, who contextualizes the album’s creation as a period of deep personal conflict and intense and fruitful creativity.
Jan Gaye, Marvin’s ex-wife, says she was thrilled to hear that the album was finally being prepared for release after being shelved some 47 years ago, especially after falling in love with the one track, 'You’re The Man', that was actually issued back then as a single.
“I always focus on ‘You’re The Man,’ because when I was much, much younger, it was one of my favorite songs,” Gaye tells Entertainment Weekly.
“I was disappointed at the time — I remember thinking, ‘Why is this just a single? Where’s the rest?’ And so I was really excited that there’s a re-release, that it’s kind of updated, and that a younger crowd can familiarize themselves with it.”
Though 'You’re The Man' peaked at No. 7 on the Hot Soul Singles chart, it stalled at No. 50 on the pop charts without promotion from Berry Gordy, who feared its political lyrics might spark a backlash from Motown’s conservative fan base.
Gaye’s clashes with Gordy, combined with that tepid response to the single, prompted the singer to shelve the rest of the material recorded for the album.
While Jan and Marvin weren’t together during the recording sessions for 'You’re The Man', their relationship remains intimately connected to his ‘70s output (their tumultuous love affair inspired much of 'Let’s Get It On' and 'I Want You'). She was thrilled to be able to experience with fresh ears even the tracks she’d previously heard thanks to new mixes updating them for modern audiences.
“I kind of view everything as an individual release and have different memories associated with everything that he did, which is nice for me,” she says. “I can look back over my life with him and my life since he has passed on, and still have great memories, some bittersweet, some just sweet.”
“But I love a really good remix of something that makes [it] sound a little more current,” she continues. “Not that the original is outdated, but younger ears or newer ears or different ears are going to put their own spin on it — literally.”
A veteran producer for the Fugees, Nas, and Amy Winehouse, Salaam Remi first collaborated with Motown on a remix of 'Falling In Love' for the 2007 rerelease of Gaye’s 'Here, My Dear'.
For 'You’re The Man', he was given three tracks to rework, a challenge that he says he approached more intuitively than technically. “When I listen to Marvin, I feel like he has an intimate connection with the music, and that’s actually what transmits to other people,” Remi says. “So I just tried to make sure that you felt that intimate moment — it’s just beautiful.”
“I just want to sit in front of the speakers and close my eyes and feel the spirit of the person speaking to me,” adds Remi. “Because that’s ultimately going to live longer than the person.”
Remi says his goal was to find a way to respect the musical climate in which the songs were first recorded while also highlighting the elements that make Gaye’s body of work so timeless.
“Marvin is my favorite overall artist and I listen to his music all the time, so I was able to kind of turn up the things that I understood as signature Marvin and then turn back things that might’ve just been hot at that time,” he explains.
“The way I became a producer was by emulating people I have loved musically. I had an idea of how these records are put together, so I’m able to kind of listen to it and know this is how it would have sounded at Motown.”
Other than a handful of songs that she keeps for herself, Jan says she’s unsure after the release of 'You’re The Man' how much of Gaye’s music is left to be discovered.
“I happen to have a couple of tracks that no one’s ever heard that he didn’t quite finish, but they’re beautiful,” she confesses. “But [Motown A&R man] Harry Weinger is probably one of the best Marvin detectives in the world, because he can pull things out of places that you never knew, and seems to be able to put Marvin’s music in the right hands to be remixed and reinterpreted.”
Jan credits Marvin’s versatility, and his fearlessness, for the vitality of the songs on 'You’re The Man', which bounce between swinging doo-wop numbers, James Brown-style funk workouts, and searing romantic confessionals that dovetail into spiritual epiphanies.
“He could do anything,” she says. “He could croon, he could get down and funky, he could take you wherever you needed to go. He’s just one of those master composers, artists, that just knew how to do it all. He was allowed to do what he wanted to do, and when he wasn’t allowed to do it, he did it anyway — and it was all good. And that’s timeless.”

Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell will release a new album, Kind Heaven, on June 7. It will be his first solo record since 2001's Song Yet to Be Sung.
You can check out the first single, "Pirate Punk Politician," below. Farrell told Rolling Stone the song is “a good old-fashioned protest song about today’s strongmen and their tactics of oppression.”
Produced by longtime David Bowie collaborator Tony Visconti, Kind Heaven features guest appearances by Tommy Lee, Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters, the Cars' Elliot Easton, Dhani Harrison and many more in a group he's calling the Kind Heaven Orchestra.
Kind Heaven is also the name of Farrell's latest business venture, a $90 million destination at the LINQ Promenade in Las Vegas whose opening will correspond with the album's release.

April 25, 2019
The Boss is back! Bruce Springsteen has announced the details of his forthcoming genre-bending album 'Western Stars', marking his first studio record in five years.
Set to be released on June 14, the release draws inspiration from Southern California pop records of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. “This record is a return to my solo recordings featuring character driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements,” Springsteen said in a statement.
“It’s a jewel box of a record.”
Springsteen’s longtime collaborator Ron Aniello produced the album with the singer while his wife and longtime E Street Band member Patti Scialfa provides backing vocals.
The 69-year-old’s last studio album was 2014’s 'High Hopes'. In 2017, he headlined Springsteen on Broadway, which spawned a Netflix special and album.
'Western Stars', which marks the legendary musician’s 19th studio album will be available for pre-order Friday. The song “Hello Sunshine” and accompanying music video will be unveiled just after midnight ET that same day.

MARINA releases second half of new album LOVE+FEAR: Stream
Welsh pop star Marina and the Diamonds reinvents herself on the double LP
BY LAKE SCHATZON APRIL 26, 2019, 12:15AM
After a four-year hiatus dedicated to self-discovery, Marina and the Diamonds has returned with a new moniker, MARINA, and new double album. Stream LOVE+FEAR below via Apple Music or Spotify.
LOVE+FEAR follows 2015’s FROOT, but technically marks the Welsh pop artist’s first major release under her new name. It was recorded in London, Sweden, and Los Angeles with a number of producers, such as Noonie Bao, Sam De Jong, Oscar Görres, Camille Purcell, Justin Parker, and Joe Janiak.
Of the 16 tracks, “Orange Trees”, “Handmade Heaven”, and “Superstar” were shared as early singles.
Although the double album is packaged as one singular release, each half tackles contrasting subjects, as a press statement elaborates:
“LOVE is filled with a longing to enjoy life and a desire to unite and empower, while FEAR sees MARINA delve into matters of purpose and insecurity, also touching on conversations surrounding gender inequality and more broadly, the abuse of power. LOVE+FEAR are declamations that showcase these polarising sides of human nature.”
The first half, LOVE, was surprise-released earlier this month, but today marks the first time the entire collection has been made available.
MARINA is expected to tour this spring and fall behind LOVE+FEAR. Grab your tickets here.
Stock up on all of MARINA’s (real name Marina Diamandis) vinyl releases from the past by heading here.

JamesG 05-28-2019, 06:52 PM Miley Cyrus to Release New EP 'She Is Coming' This Week
by Joey Nolfy
May 27, 2019
Pop star Miley Cyrus confirmed Monday she will release new music this Friday, May 31 in the form of an extended play featuring several new tracks.
Cyrus also revealed the black-and-white cover art for the EP, which sees the 26-year-old posing in a crop top with the words “Never mind the bollocks” splashed across the front.
The announcement comes after Cyrus performed three new songs at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend show Saturday in the United Kingdom, including “Mother’s Daughter,” “Dream,” and an electronic-infused banger titled “Cattitude,” in which she references the alleged Cardi B/Nicki Minaj feud by rapping “I love you Nicki, but I listen to Cardi.”
The EP will mark Cyrus’ first collection of new music since 2017’s full-length album 'Younger Now', which spawned the top-10 hit “Malibu” and reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart.
'She Is Coming' — available to pre-save on Spotify or pre-order on Apple Music — drops Friday.

The Psychedelic Furs to release first new album in almost 30 years
Jul 23, 2019
Pretty In Pink rockers The Psychedelic Furs are to release their first album in almost 30 years.
The group has signed a worldwide deal with bosses at music label Cooking Vinyl and the bandmates are planning to record a collection of new tracks that will reach listeners next year (20).
The band, which formed in 1977, hasn’t released a studio album since 1991’s World Outside.
Manager Rob Dillman says, “The Furs had been contemplating doing new songs for quite some time. The enthusiasm and passion the label has shown for the band and the project made it an easy call… We are very excited to be doing this together.”
As well as 80s anthem Pretty in Pink, the British group also scored hits with songs like Love My Way and Heaven. The band is currently on a co-headlining tour of North America with James.

JamesG 12-01-2019, 05:04 PM Ozzy Osbourne Announces First Solo Album in 10 Years
November 8, 201910:50 AM ET
by Lars Gotrich

The Prince of Darkness, now 70, sang (and killed) the vocal hook on Post Malone's 'Take What You Want' from this past summer's 'Hollywood's Bleeding'.
Now Osbourne's first solo album in nearly a decade, 'Ordinary Man', will come out sometime early 2020. It features Guns N' Roses' Duff McKagan on bass, the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith on drums and Andrew Watt, Post Malone's producer, on guitar.
Ozzy's new single, 'Under the Graveyard', comes with his typical morbid mode. With finger-picked acoustic guitar, a slick-sounding hard-rock riff and copious studio effects, there's also just a touch of oohs and ahhs to make the chorus pop: "It's cold in the graveyard / We all die alone."
It sounds like Ozzy and, remarkably, Ozzy's voice can still tear through your soul.

Coldplay Announces Upcoming Double Album, Releases New Singles
Ishaan Parmar, Deputy News Editor
November 8, 2019
Coldplay released three songs in late October — “Arabesque,” “Orphans” and “Everyday Life” — to announce their upcoming double album, “Everyday Life.” The first half of the album is called “Sunrise” and the second half “Sunset.”
In “Arabesque,” lead singer Chris Martin is not singing in the schoolboy falsetto we have become accustomed to since Coldplay burst onto the scene 20 years ago with their hit song, “Yellow.” Martin’s voice is more subdued, exploring the lower part of his range.
Belgian dance artist Stromae’s verse in French is a welcome surprise. His deep croon fits well with the rest of the production, but he is not the best guest on this song. That distinction goes to Femi Kuti and his band, who contribute an earworm of a horn refrain and an interlude that plays like jazz improv.
“I could be you, you could be me, two raindrops in the same sea,” Martin sings in the opening verse. In “Arabesque,” Martin preaches the commonalities of the human experience, with each verse ending with “we share the same blood.” It is the hippie, we’re all human, believe in love routine that Martin and co. began with their previous release, 2015’s “A Head Full of Dreams,” but with a fuller, different sound.
The second song that Coldplay released is titled “Orphans.” It is the uplifting, radio-friendly pop single that one has come to expect from Coldplay, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Will Champion’s drums, Guy Berryman’s bass and Jonny Buckland’s guitar combine for an opening hook tailor-made to tapping your steering wheel.
With “Orphans,” Coldplay is asking us to dance our worries away. The song is bursting with energy and positivity, but the lyrics are a contrast to the happy tone. In each joyous chorus, Martin asks, “I wanna know / when I can go / back and get drunk with my friends? I wanna know / when I can go / back and be young again?” Martin is wearing his heart on his sleeve and airing his concerns with the world, but the song wants you to jump up and down with happiness, as Martin does in the music video.
The third song that Coldplay released is “Everyday Life,” the title track for the album. Keeping in line with “A Head Full of Dreams” and its closing song, “Up&Up,” Coldplay will close “Everyday Life” with an uplifting song trying to make sense of the world.
“Everyday Life” is a cheesy, slow piano ballad that will provide fuel for the cynics who reject Coldplay as insufferably boring. However, Martin’s lyrics ring true. “‘Cause everyone hurts, everyone cries,” Martin sings at the beginning of each chorus. He is being the corny motivational speaker saying things we all are too proud to admit, and that is Coldplay’s place in the music world. “Got to keep dancing when the lights go out.” “Hold tight for everyday life.” Coldplay is telling us, as it always has, that everything is going to be okay so long as we keep moving on.

Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit Announce New Album, Share Single, Confirm Tour With Billy Strings & More
Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit have announced the forthcoming release of their next studio album, to be titled, Reunions. The announcement on Monday also came with the arrival of the project’s first single, entitled “Be Afraid”, as well as confirmation of plans to tour North America, Europe, and the U.K. alongside Billy Strings, David Crosby & Friends, and more.
Isbell and the 400 Unit’s follow-up studio effort to 2017’s Grammy-winning The Nashville Sound will arrive this spring on May 15th.
High amplification, pulsating drums, and fast-paced lyrics launch the listener into the new single following its brief intro that sets up the main guitar riff. “Be Afraid” migrates back-and-forth between poignant advice and tongue-in-cheek wordplay before launching into the contradictory chorus, “Be afraid, be very afraid/But do it anyway, do it anyway.” Isbell also acknowledges his own public outspokenness, reminding both himself and his audience that he won’t waste his platform, “We won’t take requests, we won’t shut up and sing.”
Isbell and the 400 Unit’s next show is scheduled for later this month with an appearance at the baseball inspired-Innings Festival in Tempe, AZ on February 29th. From there, the band is off the road until March 26th when they play Savannah Music Festival in Georgia. The new dates include stops at iconic venues including the Met Opera House in Philadelphia, PA (6/3); a two-night run at The Warfield in San Francisco, CA (6/24-25); Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO (8/2); and many more. The band has also been included in several recent lineup announcements for 2020 summer festivals, including Mountain Jam, Boston Calling, and Bonnaroo Music And Arts Festival.

JamesG 02-01-2021, 06:28 PM Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett Releasing New Album Together
by Joey Nolfi
Feb. 1, 2021
Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett have made a new album together through the latter's diagnosis with Alzheimer's disease, marking the pair's first collaborative LP since the release of their 2014 hit 'Cheek to Cheek'.
EW has confirmed the news following a new AARP profile and subsequent interview with Gayle King on "CBS This Morning", in which Bennett's family revealed news of the album while discussing the 94-year-old's 2016 diagnosis with the neurodegenerative illness.
Reportedly recorded between 2018 and 2020, between Gaga's promotional tour for A Star is Born and the making of her latest solo effort, 'Chromatica', the new album was first discussed following the success of their jazz standards project 'Cheek to Cheek', which debuted at No. 1 in the United States nearly seven years ago.
According to the piece, the new LP — reportedly slated for a spring release — "offers lush, gorgeous duets, with both singers in superb voice," though his family suspects Bennett will be unable to conduct promotional interviews for it, which led to their decision to go public with his diagnosis six years after the onset of symptoms.
Bennett's eldest son, Danny, recalled speaking with Gaga prior to the article's debut.
"I wanted to check with her to make sure she was cool," said Danny, "because she watches his back all the time. She was like, 'Absolutely, it's just another gift that he can give to the world.'"
Bennett's wife, Susan Benedetto, said his doctor had recommended he keep up with music as the disease progressed, as the art form has been shown to help connect patients with their surroundings.
"There's a lot about him that I miss," Benedetto said at the end of the profile. "Because he's not the old Tony anymore. But when he sings, he's the old Tony."

Luke Combs Surprise-Releases New Song, 'The Great Divide'
After sharing his quarantine anthem "Six Feet Apart" last year, Luke Combs has returned with another timely new song, surprise-releasing "The Great Divide" with bluegrass guitarist Billy Strings on Sunday night. Written by Combs, Strings, and Wyatt Durrette in June 2020, "The Great Divide" is an ominous yet optimistic call for people with different beliefs to learn to come together.
"Striking matches on the TV / Setting fires on our phones," Combs begins, as guitar and mandolin underscore his descriptions of civil unrest. "We’re all so far, so far apart now / It’s as deep as it is wide," the chorus reads. "We’re about to fall apart now / If we can’t reach the other side / We gotta find a way across the great divide." Along with Strings, Charlie Worsham plays mandolin and banjo on the song, which is a tonal shift for mainstream country star Combs.
On Instagram, the singer told fans that "The Great Divide" was intended to be part of a bluegrass album that he was working on, a project that has since been shelved. In his caption, Combs wrote that his new song "isn’t meant to be political or try and tell you what to think or believe; that’s not my job. It’s just me saying how I felt when I wrote it and I wanted y’all to hear it."
"This is a song that was supposed to be a part of that project. It’s not a lead single or a lead-in to that project yet, because that is not done. But it felt like the right time to put this song out," he added in a statement, via Rolling Stone. "When we wrote it, there were a lot of crazy things going on in the world. There’s still a lot of crazy things going on in the world. And I just felt like I had some stuff to say. It’s not meant to be political. It’s not meant to try and tell you what to think or tell you how to believe. That’s not my job. It’s just a guy kinda saying the way he was feeling when he wrote it."
The 30-year-old is now working on his third studio album, which will follow his sophomore effort, 2019's What You See Is What You Get. Combs released the deluxe version of that project, What You See Ain't Always What You Get, in October. In January, he extended his record-breaking streak of consecutive No. 1 hits to start a career to 10, when his latest single, "Better Together," topped the charts.

The band's 12th studio record is their first with guitarist John Frusciante since 2006 and their first with producer and longtime collaborator Rick Rubin since 2011.
"Our only goal is to get lost in the music. We (John, Anthony, Chad and Flea) spent thousands of hours, collectively and individually, honing our craft and showing up for one another, to make the best album we could," band members Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith, and John Frusciante said in a statement released with the album's track list. "We yearn to shine a light in the world, to uplift, connect, and bring people together. Each of the songs on our new album UNLIMITED LOVE is a facet of us, reflecting our view of the universe."
The group added, "This record is the ride that is the sum of our lives."

JamesG 03-17-2022, 02:52 AM Selena's Family Confirm New Album with Unreleased Music is Coming Soon
by Marcus Jones
March 15, 2022
In a couple of new interviews, Selena Quintanilla's family reveal that they have made plans to release a new album this spring, 27 years since the 23-year-old singer was tragically shot and killed by her former employee, Yolanda Saldivar.
Talking to Latin Groove News, her father Abraham Quintanilla announced the as-yet-untitled project distributed through Warner Music will feature 13 ballads and cumbias, 10 of which have never been previously released, and three that are new arrangements of previous songs.
The singer's brother A.B. Quintanilla also recently shared more details about the project.
"It's a crazy concept album," says the producer in an interview with Tino Cochino Radio. "I remixed all her vinyls and just, with this album, with an EDM world, with arpeggiators and with keyboards, I made her flow to cumbia. Normal songs that were not normally recorded in cumbia."
Getting more specific, Quintanilla explains how they were able to digitally alter her voice to make her sound older, given how some of the tracks were recorded when she was a teenager.
"We were also able to de-tune her voice to make her sound older than what she was. So, she was 14 or 15, we were able to make her sound like she just stepped out of the booth at 23 years old."
He says that "by de-tuning her voice a little bit, it actually made her sound deeper, like she sounded before she passed."
Abraham Quintanilla says he is amazed at how "26 years later the public still remembers Selena. They haven't let go of her. They're waiting for a project like this to come out, and I know it will be well received by the public."
He adds, "I said right after she passed away that I was going to try to keep her memory alive through her music, and we have done that."

Red Hot Chili Peppers announce surprise new album Return Of The Dream Canteen
by Matthew Strauss
July 24, 2022
Just a few months after releasing their comeback record Unlimited Love, Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced another new studio album: Return of the Dream Canteen is out October 14 via Warner. Find the album cover below.
The new album was produced by Rick Rubin, who also worked on Unlimited Love. In a press statement on the new studio LP, the band said:
We went in search of ourselves as the band that we have somehow always been. Just for the fun of it we jammed and learned some old songs. Before long we started the mysterious process of building new songs. A beautiful bit of chemistry meddling that had befriended us hundreds of times along the way. Once we found that slip stream of sound and vision, we just kept mining. With time turned into an elastic waist band of oversized underwear, we had no reason to stop writing and rocking. It felt like a dream. When all was said and done, our moody love for each other and the magic of music had gifted us with more songs than we knew what to do with. Well we figured it out. 2 double albums released back to back. The second of which is easily as meaningful as the first or should that be reversed. ‘Return of the Dream Canteen’ is everything we are and ever dreamed of being. It’s packed. Made with the blood of our hearts, yours truly, the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Selena Quintanilla Estate Shares New Version of ‘Como Te Quiero Yo a Ti,’ Reveals Posthumous Album Release Date
Nearly three decades ago, Selena Quintanilla’s life was tragically ended just as her success in the American mainstream was beginning to ignite.
Now, 27 years later, the Quintanilla family and Warner Music Latina will be releasing a new album from the Tejano singer. The estate has unveiled a remixed regional version of “Como Te Quiero Yo A Ti” — the first single from Selena’s forthcoming 13-track album, “Moonchild Mixes,” which will release on Aug. 26.
“Como Te Quiero Yo A Ti” has been re-released once before, making this the third version of the song which was originally recorded in 1987. The single was written by Ricky Vela, who was an original member of Selena y Los Dinos and produced by Selena’s brother, A.B. Quintanilla.
Of the new album, A.B. told ABC News that “Everything was recorded on vinyl. So we had to kind of fuse the old school ways with the new school ways. Clean Selena’s vocals, put them on timing. And then we also pitched her vocal down just a hair to make her sound a little bit more mature.”
According to the family, a majority of the album’s songs were recorded when Selena was between 13 and 16 years old. In a process that took over a year to complete, A.B. says he digitally altered the music to portray the vocals and overall sound as accurately as possible. The new album will include 10 never-before-heard songs and three that are new variations of previously released tracks.
“It truly feels like she went into the studio again and recorded it,” Selena’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla, said in the ABC News interview. “It’s pretty incredible.”
The siblings also discussed the fuel for the new posthumous album, citing the fact that they wanted “to breathe new life into this old music and have it created new for the newer generation.”
“The younger generation are discovering her and they’re searching her and they want to know more about her,” said Suzette of her sister.
Quintanilla was among the top-selling artists of the 1990s before she was shot and killed on March 31, 1995. She was 23 years old.
In response to a question about posthumous albums being exploitative, A.B. and Suzette said they believe their sister would’ve loved the new album. “What we’re doing is honoring her memory, her legacy. That’s what it’s about,” A.B. said.
“As an artist and musicians and people that are in the public eye, you have to turn that off. We’re still going to do what we want with our music, with our sister, with our band,” added Suzette. “And I hope people understand that everything that we do, we do it with loving care and with beauty.”
On July 25, the estate also released an official music video for her 1995 ranchera single “Tú, Sólo Tú,” as a part of the new album rollout. That video features rare photos and video footage of the singer. When it was released in 1995, the song debuted at number three on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks and climbed to number one in the following week where it stood for ten weeks.

JamesG 02-23-2023, 01:03 AM Rolling Stones New Album will have Contributions from Charlie Watts, Beatles, Latter Sparking Fevered Dreams of Special Concerts
by Bruce Haring
February 22, 2023
The final Rolling Stones album with contributions from original drummer Charlie Watts will be out later this year, the band’s first new music in 18 years.
But that’s not all – Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are reported to be contributors on the new recording. The album would be the first Stones album since the Grammy-winning covers album Blue & Lonesome in 2016, and the first of original material since A Bigger Bang in 2005.
Any Beatles participation is sure to spark speculation on concerts. The Stones have used Darryl Jones on bass since 1993, when Bill Wyman retired, with drummer Steve Jordan filling the Watts chair for the Stones on its most recent tour. Watts died in 2021 at age 80.
Whether this means there will be some team-ups at live shows remains to be seen. The Stones have teased dates in the summer and fall of this year, but no official plans have been set.
Guitarist Keith Richards, 79, recently wrote on Instagram that new music is “on its way.”
“Hi guys, here we are again. Wishing you all a belated Happy New Year and there’s some new music on its way and hopefully we’ll get to see you. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.”
His participation on the new album was revealed by guitarist Ronnie Wood on social.
“We are recording the new album now and we are going to LA in a few weeks to carry it on and finish it off. Charlie is on some of the tracks (along with touring) drummer Steve Jordan.”

Greta Van Fleet Announce New Album Starcatcher, Share Lead Single “Meeting the Master”
by Bryan Kress
April 7, 2023
Greta Van Fleet have revealed details of their third album, titled Starcatcher, along with the project’s first single, “Meeting the Master.” The 10-track LP arrives on July 21st.
The album was recorded in Nashville by the band and Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb (Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit) over sessions that guitarist Jake Kiszka described in a statement as “very instinctual.” For Starcatcher, the Michigan quartet aimed to strike at big questions like “What is this consciousness that we have, and where did it come from?” as posited by bassist Sam Kiszka, while also digging deeper into their mythical lore by revisiting concepts from their previous work, including 2021’s The Battle at Garden’s Gate.
“We had this idea that we wanted to tell these stories to build a universe,” drummer Danny Wagner shared. “We wanted to introduce characters and motifs and these ideas that would come about here and there throughout our careers through this world.”
The band introduced the project alongside its lead single, “Meeting the Master,” which they dubbed “a dark comedy” and “exotic spiritual journey” about “an esoteric world heeded by the word of a wise teacher.” Interpret what you will from that description and stream the track below.
The rock group recently wrapped up a stretch of North American tour dates that were rescheduled from 2022 after lead singer Josh Kiszka ruptured an eardrum during one of their performances. The band will make their way back on the road with upcoming appearances at Memphis’ Beale Street Music Festival, where they’ll share top-billing with Robert Plant, as well as Atlanta’s Shaky Knees in May and Asbury Park, New Jersey’s Sea.Hear.Now in September. Browse for seats and deals to all of their live dates here.
Greta Van Fleet’s Starcatcher will release on July 21st via Lava/Republic Records. Pre-orders are ongoing.

JamesG 04-20-2023, 02:03 AM Foo Fighters Announce their First Album since Taylor Hawkins' Death, Release New Song 'Rescued'
by Emlyn Travis
April 19, 2023
Foo Fighters have been slowly rolling out news of a series of summer festivals they'll play in the coming months. Now they've revealed they'll unveil fresh music while on the road.
The band announced that their 11th album, But Here We Are, will be released June 2. The 10-track LP will feature the rockers examining their highs and lows of the past year, during which their drummer, Taylor Hawkins, died suddenly, as did lead singer Dave Grohl's mother, Virginia Grohl.
They described the album as a "brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year" in a press release, noting that the record's songs will "run the emotional gamut from rage and sorrow to serenity and acceptance, and myriad points in between."
j3S8wdJhgac
Produced by Greg Kurstin and Foo Fighters, and drawing inspiration from their eponymous 1995 debut album, But Here We Are is a "testament to the healing powers of music, friendship, and family" and became as "therapeutic as it was about a continuation of life" for the band, per the release.
Along with the announcement, the group released the album's opening track, "Rescued," on streaming platforms.

JamesG 09-05-2023, 03:13 AM Rolling Stones Announce ‘Hackney Diamonds,’ First Studio Album in 18 Years
by Jem Aswad
Sept. 4, 2023
After years of speculation and a remarkably unsubtle teaser campaign that saw the group’s iconic logo projected onto iconic structures in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris and other major cites, the Rolling Stones have announced the forthcoming release of 'Hackney Diamonds', their first studio album since 2005.
Full details will be announced Wednesday at an event in the Hackney district of East London on Wednesday, where the group’s three principals, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ron Wood, will be interviewed live by “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon.
The launch event will be hosted by and streamed exclusively worldwide via YouTube.
“Hackney may be at the heart of Hackney Diamonds, but this is a truly global moment we want to share with fans around the world via YouTube,” the group said in a statement Monday.
The group has been recording new material for many years — they “took a break” from it to record an album of blues standards released in 2016 — and at least one song has been reported to feature the two surviving members of the Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
The album will be the group’s first release since the 2021 death of Charlie Watts, a founding member who had played each of the band’s thousands of concerts except one, and nearly every recorded song, since the Rolling Stones formed in 1962. The group toured last fall with drummer Steve Jordan.
Even as its members reach their eighties, the Stones have toured regularly throughout the 21st century, with Jagger retaining nearly his full measure of vocal and physical energy despite turning 80 on July 26. After a pandemic-induced delay, the group resumed its “No Filter” North American tour in the fall of 2021, shortly after Watts’ death, and underwent a multi-date “Sixty” tour of Europe last year, observing the band’s sixtieth anniversary.

by Steven J. Horowitz
April 26, 2024
Shortly before making an appearance at the NFL Draft, Eminem announced that his 12th studio album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)” will be releasing this summer.
A trailer for the album shortly hit the internet after his NFL cameo, showing a true crime reporter discussing the death of Eminem’s alter ego, Slim Shady. “Through his complex and oft-criticized, tongue-twisting rhymes, the anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies,” he says.
Eminem’s longtime associate 50 Cent is then shown in a cameo. “He’s not a friend, he’s a psychopath,” he says. The reporter continues, “The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady.”
Eminem himself makes an appearance, stating, “I knew it was only a matter of time for Slim.”

JamesG 09-24-2024, 06:27 PM Lady Gaga Announces Album ‘Harlequin’ with 13 Songs
by Jazz Tangcay, Jem Aswad
Sept. 24, 2024
It looks like there will be two Lady Gaga albums in the coming months.
The singer, who announced that she will be dropping the first single from her forthcoming seventh studio album next month, just announced 'Harlequin', a soundtrack album titled to the forthcoming film Joker: Folie et Deux, in which she stars with Joaquin Phoenix.
'Harlequin' will be released on Sept. 27 and feature 13 songs.
In the lead up to the announcement, Gaga teased fans with posts to Instagram “I’m ready for my interview,” read one post, while another said: “Don’t tell me what to wear.”
A third post, which was accompanied by the lone plucking of an acoustic guitar, read: “No duct tape. No mission.” She also teased the album earlier this week with billboards including the number “6.5,” which presumably means that she does not consider this a full Lady Gaga studio album, unlike the forthcoming one that has been written in shorthand “LG7”.

JamesG 03-27-2026, 07:14 PM Paul McCartney Announces Nostalgic New Album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane
by Mark Savage - Music Correspondent
March 26, 2026
zckLcAuyG20
Paul McCartney has announced his first new album in six years, described as a "collection of revealing glimpses" into "never-before shared" memories.
The Boys Of Dungeon Lane was inspired by his childhood in post-war Liverpool, and named after a road in Speke that leads to the Mersey shore, where the young McCartney would spend afternoons bird-watching.
The first single, Days We Left Behind, premiered on BBC Radio Merseyside, and finds the singer in a wistful, nostalgic mood.
"This is very much a memory song for me," said the 83-year-old in a press release announcing his new album. "I do often wonder if I'm just writing about the past but then I think how can you write about anything else?"
The Boys Of Dungeon Lane will be the star's 19th solo album, in a recording career that spans 63 years and changed the sound of rock and roll forever.

Olivia Rodrigo Reveals New Album ‘You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love’
By Angie Martoccio
April 2, 2026
It’s been four long years since Olivia Rodrigo released a new album, but the wait for OR3 is over. You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So in Love, her third LP, will arrive on June 12 via Geffen Records.
Most notably, the album is not a four-letter title as fans expected, after her 2021 debut, Sour, and 2023’s Guts. In her newsletter, she wrote, “No matter how hard I try to write love songs they always come out laced with a little melancholy. I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it.” It’s available for preorder now.
Like her first two albums, Rodrigo recorded You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So in Love with her producer, Dan Nigro. The news arrives after months of Rodrigo teasing new music, most recently a cryptic hotline message that alluded to this year’s pink moon, which occurred on April 2. “Trust your intuition,” the message read. “Expect true clarity and renewal just after the pink moon. Until then, follow the stars, your guides, and your heart, knowing that the best is yet to come.”
Rodrigo recently covered the Magnetic Fields’ “The Book of Love” for HELP(2), a compilation album supporting the charity organization War Child UK, alongside Arctic Monkeys, Cameron Winter, Depeche Mode, Wet Leg, and more.
In December 2025, she released Live at Glastonbury (A BBC Recording), a double LP that encapsulated her incredible year touring the festival circuit. A month later, she celebrated the fifth anniversary of her breakout hit “Drivers License” by dropping a cover of the song, featuring her Governors Ball buddy David Byrne.

JamesG 04-16-2026, 07:37 AM Madonna’s New Album “Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II” Sets July Release
by Ellise Shafer
April 15, 2026
Madonna is returning to the dance floor.
The pop icon has revealed that her new album, “Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II” — a follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2005 dance record — will release on July 3 via Warner Records. It marks her first full-length album in seven years and is a reunion with DJ Stuart Price, the producer of the original “Confessions on a Dance Floor,” which features hits like “Hung Up,” “Sorry,” “Jump” and more.
In a press release, Madonna shared her and Price’s “manifesto” while making the album: “We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies. These are things that we’ve been doing for thousands of years — they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space. It’s a place where you connect — with your wounds, with your fragility.
To rave is an art. It’s about pushing your limits and connecting to a community of like-minded people. Sound, light, and vibration/ Reshape our perceptions/ Pulling us into a trance-like state. The repetition of the bass, we don’t just hear it but we feel it. Altering our consciousness and dissolving ego and time.”

JamesG 05-06-2026, 07:50 AM New Rolling Stones Album ‘Foreign Tongues’ to Release in July
by Ethan Millman
May 5, 2026
The Rolling Stones are back. The legendary rock band revealed Tuesday that they’ll release new album 'Foreign Tongues' in July, with a star-studded list of guest appearances including Paul McCartney, Steve Winwood, Robert Smith and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith.
'Foreign Tongues', due July 10 through Capitol Records, marks the Rolling Stones’ 25th album and follows 2023’s 'Hackney Diamonds'. With the announcement, the Stones also released the album’s lead single, “In The Stars,” as well as the album’s opening track “Rough and Twisted.”
The album will feature a performance from late drummer Charlie Watts, according to a press release shared Tuesday, marking one of the drummer’s final performances before he died in 2021.
Prolific producer Andrew Watt, who also produced 'Hackney Diamonds' as well as McCartney’s upcoming 'The Boys of Dungeon Lane', is producing this album as well.
Along with the Stones’ Jagger, Richards and Wood, touring band members and frequent collaborators Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford and Steve Jordan are on the album as well. The band said they recorded much of the album in under a month at Metropolis Studios in London.
“I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis,” Jagger said in a statement of the new album. “It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone.”
Richards added: “The Foreign Tongues album has a continuity from Hackney Diamonds and it was great to be working in London again, and to have that London vibe around us. It was a month of concentrated punch. To me, it’s all about the enjoyment of it. I’m blessed to be able to do this and long may it last.”

Gene Simmons Confirms KISS Has Recorded A New Paul Stanley-Written Song: We Are 'In The Studio Now'
In an interview with KISSbySienna, hosted by KISS superfan Sienna Hernandez, KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons confirmed that new music from the legendary rock band is in the works. He revealed (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "KISS is in the studio now. So we just recorded a new song, as a matter of fact, that Paul [Stanley, KISS guitarist/vocalist] wrote. I can't tell you more about it. And that'll be coming out at some point."
Last month, Gene told Pollstar magazine that "new" KISS songs will be featured the upcoming avatar-based KISS show, which is tentatively scheduled to launch in Las Vegas in 2028. The as-yet unnamed KISS experience will be the first major entry into the U.S. market for Pophouse Entertainment, the Sweden-based music investment firm co-founded by ABBA's Björn Ulvaeus.
After Pollstar writer Katherine Turman asked for clarification as to which "new" songs will make an appearance, Gene said: "Exactly what that means, written by us. We have songs done."
KISS hasn't issued a full-length disc of new music since 2012's "Monster", which sold 56,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 3 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous LP, "Sonic Boom", opened with 108,000 units back in October 2009 to enter the chart at No. 2. It was KISS's highest-charting LP ever.
Last November, Stanley was asked by a TMZ "what kind of vibe" the new KISS music would be if he and the rest of KISS decided to write and record something. Paul said: "I think we'd probably go for something that's classic, but everything has to have a beat. You gotta be able to dance to it, but it should still be rock."
As for the lyrical inspiration for hypothetical new KISS material, Stanley said: "Freedom, self-empowerment, enjoying life. That doesn't change. It doesn't matter how old you are. You're supposed to enjoy your life, you're supposed to do things your way. That's timeless. That's rock and roll."
Earlier November 2025, during a question-and-answer session at the "KISS Kruise: Landlocked In Vegas" event held at the Virgin Hotels resort and casino complex in Las Vegas, Stanley said that "there may be some [KISS] music in the works. We like to tell you what we're doing, the things that are planned," he explained. "The problem is that so much of what we may bring up never comes to fruition, [but] music, yeah, that looks pretty damn… more than possible. Probable. I'm not going to give you any hints, but I only write when there's a project — and I've been writing."
Five years ago, Stanley was far more non-committal about the prospect of new KISS music, saying during a question-and-answer session on the 2021 Kiss Kruise: "Why would we need a new KISS album? Any big classic band with a history, you go, 'Oh, put out a new album.' You know, if THE [ROLLING] STONES put out a new album, you go, 'Oh, that's great. Play 'Brown Sugar'.' … Yeah, maybe not now," apparently referencing the fact that THE ROLLING STONES recently retired one of their most popular songs due to lyrics that depict the horrors of slavery. "But the same is true for us. You can have great songs on the more recent albums, but people then go, 'Great. Play 'Love Gun'Paul's comments during the November 2021 Kiss Kruise echoed those he made in March 2021 when he told USA Today in an interview that he didn't really see a "reason" for KISS to make any new music. "For the most part, when classic bands put out new albums, they're looked at and listened to and thrown away because they don't have the gravitas, they don't have the age that comes with something being a time capsule or being attached to a certain period of your life," he said. "I'm not alone in that. When you see any classic bands on TV or if there's a concert video, turn off the sound and I'll tell you every time they're playing a new song because the audience sits down.
"So it's odd to me that people always want you to do a new album, but then they go, 'That's great. Now play your hits.' So honestly, at this point, there isn't a real reward in it. There's much more of a reward in changing lanes — I'm still going forward. But in terms of recording more KISS material, I kind of go, 'Why?' I thought 'Modern Day Delilah' or 'Hell Or Hallelujah' were as good as anything I've written and as good as anything we recorded, but understandably, it's like new wine. It just hasn't aged. So I'd rather not try to roll a stone up the hill."
Paul had previously expressed uncertainty about the idea of making another KISS album in a number of other interviews a few years ago, telling the "Loudwire Podcast": "If we're going to do an album, it would be because we want to do an album, not because of sales. I think we're living in a time, obviously, now where albums don't sell what they once did, so you either do it because it's a creative outlet and because it satisfies something in you, or not. If you're doing it purely for sales, then you're probably doing it for the wrong reason."
Simmons had agreed with his bandmate, saying a while back in an interview that he was "not incentivized" to release another KISS disc unless there are some major changes in the way music is consumed. He said: "The idea that you work your ass off and then someone with freckles on their face decides they want to download your music and file share — that's not what I work for. How'd you like to be a plumber, come over somebody's house and work all day to fix their plumbing and then when it's time to get paid, they say, 'No, I just wanted to say thank you.' No."
Two years after the completion of their five-year, 250-date "End Of The Road" farewell tour with two shows at New York City's Madison Square Garden, KISS returned to the stage at their "KISS Kruise: Landlocked In Vegas" event, which was held in November 2025 at the Virgin Hotels resort and casino complex in Las Vegas. After an hourlong acoustic performance on November 14, 2025, the band played an 85-minute set — their first "unmasked" electric concert on land in 30 years — the following night, where they were joined by former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick on two songs ("Lick It Up" and "Rock And Roll All Nite").
The 2026 edition of "KISS Kruise: Landlocked In Vegas" will be held November 13-15 at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. This time, the event will introduce an expanded and immersive KISSperience featuring artist panels and Q&As, a look-alike contest, KISS karaoke, "Ask Doc" sessions with longtime KISS manager Doc McGhee, artist meet-and-greets and late-night DJs. The event will also include interactive exhibits, a merch store and a "Future Of KISS" panel.
"KISS Kruise: Landlocked In Vegas" will feature two unmasked shows with the band, in addition to a powerhouse lineup of special guests and performers, including an Ace Frehley all-star tribute after the original KISS guitarist died at age 74 on October 16, 2025, weeks after suffering a fall at his home.
