View Full Version : Are you still watching Antenna TV in the summer of 2013?

I haven't watched Antenna TV at all in the past 2 months because of the reasons below

1. The reduced airing of different strokes

2. No more three's company

3. weekly marathon airings

Me-TV right now has the better quality and has added new shows. Antenna TV hasn't done sh*T!!

LOL:lol:

I watch it off and on. I have watched selected episodes of WKRP, Diff'rent Strokes, Benson, Barney Miller, Maude, Bachelor Father, Jack Benny and Burns and Allen.

I still watch Diff'rent Strokes. That's about it. Most of the other stuff they've worn out or I've never really cared about. I just hope they make some improvements when the new schedule comes in September. I know they're adding Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie. I hope that they will reduce the number of movies they show. I hope Diff'rent Strokes will be on more, and they really need to show more Benson and put it on at a time when I can see it. I also hope they'll put Hazel on in prime. 2013 has been a very disappointing year on Antenna TV. I hope 2014 is better.

Drama queen Solomon making a big deal out of nothing yet again. You keep talking trash. Before it was MeTV but now all of a sudden because they have Rhoda they can't do no wrong. Yet that's the only show you watch on MeTV.

Go watch Benson. Or are you still too lazy?

I watch it sometimes. I watch Different Strokes, Benson, Father Knows Best and Bachelor Father. So I guess I watch enough of it. I still don't like all the movies and stuff plus there Saturday(?) afternoon into the Saturday night lineup has to go.

I seldom watch it now. Not because I don't like it, just waaaay too busy with work (primarily) and with volunteer work. Besides, I burned about 200 DVDs of stuff from Antenna - more than enough to keep me happy for a LONG long time.

Overall, I love Antenna TV. For a free channel it's fantastic. Is it perfect? No. But then what is. For example, I was disappointed when they took Leave It To Beaver off and could live without The Nanny or Diffr'nt Strokes (don't hate them, just think they're so-so.). They have some pretty good movies too (many B ones, but I still like them)

Ant-TV is all new to me, first time I've been able to catch it (except for a brief time when my rooftop antenna brought it in from Chicago).

I just saw today, for the first time in over 20 years, the Robert Reed episode of Father Knows Best. I am one happy dude right now!!

I also caught Yvonne Craig's ep of McHale's Navy recently. There's so much I'm watching like Sanford & Son, Barney Miller, Good Times, Bachelor Father, Maude, and Hazel. Yee-HAW!

I have Antenna TV and its not bad. I like it because it has shows i like and love to watch like All In The Family, Sanford And Son, Good Times, WKRP In Cincinnati, Benson, The Three Stooges, Diff'rent Strokes, & Maude. It has other shows like Suspense Theatre, The Jack Benny Program, Hazel, Father Knows Best, Bachelor Father, The Partridge Family, Dennis the Menace, Barney Miller, McHale's Navy, & It Takes A Thief. It could you some more shows like I Lucy Lucy with We Love Lucy/The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour, The Brady Bunch, The Facts Of Life, Archie Bunker's Palace, they should be back Three's Company with The Roper's, & Three's A Crowd, Webster, The Andy Griffith Show, Bewitched, & I Dream Of Jeannie. They should remove Alfred Hitchcock Presents, George Burns And Gracie Allen, Gidget, The Flying Nun, The Nanny, & Married With Children. Also they quality video and even audio is not that good compared to Me TV and even tho i don't have i was it at my cousin's house because they have it and i hope i get it soon or at some point but Antenna TV needs to update their quality video and even audio and also they need there own logo during shows like Me TV does so it will look like a real TV Channel/Network, But what i mean is not use their a Affiliate's logo's. Also more and better commercials advertising their shows and channel/network and they need better marathons like TV Land did, Like these Marrython for Christmas, TV Boxset marathon / Boxset marathon and these marathons on Sundays, Halloween marathons, Thanksgiving marathon, New Years marathon, 48 Hour Fandemonium marathon on Saturdays & Sundays aka the Weekends, They are good with the Block Party every Monday - Thursday night but they should call it Block Party Summer or Summer Block Party since is it's summer and every summer and Friday night is good for black and white
and on some Sunday nights they should do what Nick @ Nite did vote for a show and it would be marathon for the one that was voted or Revenge of the 80's thing or do with the 50's, 60's, and or 70's. Also Remove some of the movie or remove them all together or especially on Saturday/Saturday night.

Sorry I missed this response.

I never found the quality wanting. Many of their airings are vintage shows. A tiny flaw here or there is no biggie to me. Overall, for a free channel they 're fantastic. Guess we have to agree to disagree.

I have 100's of great eps of shows I'd thought I'd never see again (Bachelor Father, FKB, LITB). All burned to DVD's I can watch anytime I want. In my book Antenna's a Godsend!

I have said this many times and I'll repeat it until the right people listen and make the proper changes. I will take Antenna Tv and Me-Tv any day of the week over any channel in Canada. That includes our so-called classic TV stations DejaView, TVTropolis and Comedy Gold, where the programming variety is limited, selection is questionable, and sense of historical value and nostalgia is almost non-existent.

Dear Solomon and anyone else who likes a good challenge, I simply DARE YOU to watch any of these channels for one day and one night and then see if you'll still be complaining about what you already have! I would kill to watch even one episode on TV of shows like "Donna Reed", "Dobie Gillis", or "Dennis The Menace", (heck, anything in black and white will do!) instead of "Full House", "Fresh Prince", "Family Matters" and "Gilmore Girls" being presented as classic family shows and running multiple times a day. Whatever happened to the Beaver, Sgt. Bilko, Bewitched, Jeannie, the Bradys and Partridges, Hooterville and Mayberry? I'll tell you what! They've all flown south of the border and I have no idea when, or even if, they're coming back!

Now go put that in your Antenna TV and see if it salutes!

As a matter of fact, that's exactly what I've been doing! The last number of times I've visited YouTube, I've specifically looked for those three series as well as other hard to find favorites like "My Three Sons" and downloading and saving the episodes I like.

Here's a little item which may help to explain why we need channels like Antenna TV and Me-TV or something close to them in Canada. Right now, only a handful out of the number of specialty channels that we have will even show sitcoms from the 1980s or earlier. One of them, TVTropolis, will be rebranded in Sept. Another, CTS, will take "Gilligan's Island" and all other sitcoms off their lineup this fall. That leaves DejaView and Comedy Gold as the primary sources for classic TV. Between them, their sitcoms can be broken down by date this way:

1950s sitcoms - I Love Lucy (That's it!)

1960s sitcoms - None. That's right, none!

1970s - All In The Family, The Jeffersons, Three's Company, MASH, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rhoda, Soap, The Bob Newhart Show, One Day At A Time. Total: 9

Out of those 9, 3 are Norman Lear shows, 3 are MTM shows. Take those out of the equation and our TV picture becomes awfully bleak, even if you add other channels to the mix. That's why I love to watch my DVDs and online sources like YouTube, Uncle Earl's Classic TV, Droopyvids, The Internet Archive, and anywhere else---as long as it's free and it's available---just to see what I'm missing and what great shows used to be like. Now if I can only find Antenna TV and Me-TV stations that stream online (which may not be far off) and I will be thrilled. Right now, the numbers I mentioned above leave me very disappointed and with no relief in sight. So for now, I'll simply rely on what I call 3DTV: that's D for Donna, Dennis, and Dobie!!!

Antenna TV is still one of the best stations, and they'll get even better when Bewitched and Jeannie join the lineup. I watch Benson every Sunday night and also like Alfred Hitchcock Presents, WKRP, Barney Miller, Hazel, Bachelor Father, and Different Strokes. Jack Benny and Burns and Allen are good but they need a weekend afternoon/evening slot instead of what's on. One show Antenna airs that I've never liked is Good Times. One of my friends said if Good Times is on she runs screaming from the room before she goes into convulsions.

I'm really enjoying Kraft Suspense Theatre and It Takes a Thief (Robert Wagner) on Antenna-TV.

Recently they showed a 1964 episode of the Kraft series that starred Brian Keith and the sublime Nancy Malone (Season 1, ep. 19). Also in the cast was a young man I thought was Johnny Crawford at first glance (the boy from The Rifleman) -- but it was his brother Robert.
