JamesG 07-06-2013, 07:24 PM Jenny McCarthy "In Serious Talks" To Join "The View" as Joy Behar's Replacement
July 5, 2013
by Nicole Eggenberger
Make room on the couch! Frequent "View" guest cohost Jenny McCarthy may be joining the ABC morning talk show full-time.
"She is in serious talks right now," an insider tells Us Weekly of the star, 40, who is currently hosting her own low-rated chatfest on VH1. "Her show isn't quite working out, so she's definitely open to it."
The sassy single mom would replace Joy Behar, 70, when the comedian moves on in August, reveals another source. "The cast and crew get a kick out of Jenny," adds a set source.
"She's a good fit. She may not be able to carry a show, but she works well with a group ensemble."
A third insider adds Brooke Shields, 48, is also in talks to replace Elisabeth Hasselbeck, 36, come fall. US exclusively revealed in March that Hasselbeck will not be returning as a cohost, but she has yet to confirm the news.
In addition to Behar announcing her departure from the show, Barbara Walters revealed in May that she plans to retire in summer 2014.

PrettyinPink55 07-07-2013, 12:11 AM They need an Asian!!! Maybe even a South Asian....although I know that's really really pushing it. Margaret Cho was excellent as a guest co-host!! She had me rolling!! She should be a regular or even permanent!!
How about a Latina? I would like to see more diversity on the panel. Also, maybe someone younger around Elisabeth's age or younger than that to spruce up the show's image?
I guess I'm one of the very few in my age group who watches The View lol.
JamesG 07-07-2013, 12:59 AM I met Sherri Shepherd at her book signing here in Brooklyn about 2 months ago and she was asked who they plan on getting to be Joy's replacement. She explained that they've been experimenting with various guest co-hosts to see who seems like a right fit. Jenny McCarthy's name was mentioned, as well as Brooke Shields.
She didn't comment on future replacements for Barbara Walters and for if/when Hasselbeck leaves. Not that she said "no comment", just that nobody asked regarding Barbara and Liz.
She was also asked whom she wants to personally see come on the show. She said, "If we can get a Latina co-host that would be great because I feel that they need a voice on the show and that Latinos seem so under-represented on tv."
Someone in the audience shouted "Sofía Vergara!" and Sherri said that she would be awesome on the show, but that she's too busy with "Modern Family" to commit to it.
She said that they are definitely sticking with females when someone said Mario Cantone should be the host, but they all enjoy him on the show and they call him "their male sister".

Should her "vaccines cause autism" stance be used against her?

JamesG 07-15-2013, 12:53 PM Jenny McCarthy Officially Joining "The View" as Co-Host
Jul 15, 2013
by Liz Raftery
Jenny McCarthy is officially joining "The View" and will make her debut on the daytime talk show in September, ABC announced Monday.
"We are delighted that Jenny will be joining us as a permanent co-host on The View starting in September," co-host Barbara Walters said in a statement.
"Jenny brings us intelligence as well as warmth and humor. She can be serious and outrageous. She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view. Jenny will be a great addition to the show as we usher in an exciting new chapter for The View."
McCarthy, who currently hosts "The Jenny McCarthy Show" on VH-1, will replace co-host Joy Behar, who is set to leave the show in August. Brooke Shields is reportedly in talks to replace Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who departed last week and is heading to Fox News.
"I'm beyond thrilled to be joining Barbara and the other amazing women at the table," McCarthy said in a statement. "I look forward to helping make hot topics a little bit hotter, and showing my mom that my interrupting skills have finally paid off."
McCarthy will make her "View" debut on Monday, Sept. 9.
"The View" will also need to find a replacement for Walters, who has said she plans to retire next May. Co-hosts Sherri Shepherd and Whoopi Goldberg are expected to return to the show.

http://entertainment.time.com/2013/07/15/viruses-dont-care-about-your-view-why-abc-shouldnt-have-hired-jenny-mccarthy/
Her anti-vaccine stance shouldn't have gotten her hired because vaccines are a matter of life and death, and "The View" is very influential platform.

Expect to see Jenny McCarthy wearing glasses on "The View" (http://jimromenesko.com/2013/07/16/get-used-to-seeing-jenny-mccarthy-with-glasses/)
Apparently McCarthy turns into "Librarian Jenny" every time she's guest co-hosted in the past. PLUS: Dear ABC: McCarthy on "The View" will kill children (http://www.salon.com/2013/07/16/dear_abc_putting_jenny_mccarthy_on_the_view_will_kill_children/).

McGillicuddy 08-14-2013, 04:19 PM Aren't they going to have 5 co-hosts?
shotzette 08-15-2013, 12:31 AM Can we start a pool on how long it will take Jenny to start spouting off on the dangers of vaccinations? I place $5 on week 2.

What's so bad about questioning the influence of the big pharmaceutical companies on our lives? Every day we see evidence of people having health problems and side-effects that have become more prevalent in recent years. On Wednesday, Dr. Oz was talking about arsenic levels in rice. Apparently people want McCarthy to quit trying to alert people to potential dangers either because she's not a doctor or people perceive her as just an airhead -- while doctors like Oz go on and on about the dangers of apple juice.
I think there's a correlation between the increase in reliance on powerful drugs and declining health in the U.S., and profits are being placed ahead of the welfare of the public. Old-fashioned cures don't make money for the pill and injection people. If McCarthy can get people to look into some of what's been going on, I think what she's doing can be beneficial in the same way as Oz and others.
My own doctor has had me looking into the dangers of fluoride. I'll bet that most people here had never heard of its potential ill-effects. The ironic thing is that she's no doubt liberal while McCarthy is likely conservative -- which goes to show you that politics should have nothing to do with this.

My guess is that they will rotate w/ various guest co-hosts until a permanent one is announced.
Brooke Shields' name is rumored for the spot.

My biggest issue would be with my hypothetical and vaccinated kid going to school with your hypothetical un-vaccinated kid and catching rubella, scarlet fever, whooping cough, polio, or any of the other god-awful diseases that our grandparents dealt with on a regular basis.
I am NOT a fan of big pharma, especially when countless school kids are prescribed Ritalyn and Adderall at the drop of a hat, however some medications are necessary to increase or maintain one's health.
I don't see McCarthy as being conservative, but then again, I haven't paid much attention to her since she got on the anti-vax bandwagon.
biffbronson 08-20-2013, 02:12 AM Thanks for replying -- yes, it is worrysome that those children who forego vaccinations can pass along contagious disease. That's something I should have mentioned, and it gets to why this is such a contentious issue. It's really a whole 'nother matter when the choices made for the child can endanger others.
There are some simple things that people should try to keep in mind -- for example, since I've gotten more iodide/iodine in my diet, it seems like joint pain I was experiencing cleared up. And it's easy to get from iodized table salt (of course, now people are afraid of salt as sodium consumption is questioned). Love it on corn-on-the-cob!:) But we do need certain things in our diets that can keep problems in check, and maybe fewer prescriptions will be needed.
I'm always more likely to watch "The Chew" rather than "The View." It seems that both shows' producers have given consideration to pretty blonde ladies for their casts (Daphne Oz, Elizabeth Hasselbeck, and now McCarthy) -- probably not a bad ratings gamble!

She has passionate opinions like Elisabeth, yet she is brassy and unfiltered like Joy.
