What is your favorite Season of Family Matters? I would have to say the 5th season.

I remember watching Family Matters on TGIF when I was younger. Ever since it left TGIF I really haven't watched it that much, so therefore, I really don't have a favorite season at this piont.

I don't really know what my favorite season is, but you can be sure it's not between the 5th and the 9th. those were almost horrible, I already mentioned in the past that I think family matters should have ended after the 4th season. well back to the topic, I think my favorite season is 2nd or 3rd, but the 1st was also nice...

The first season was the best, because Steve was only in a couple of the episodes. Don't get me wrong, the character of Steve was necessary otherwise, the series would have been just another family sitcom, but by the 5th season, Jaleel White was getting to old to play the character. In my opinion, the series lasted way to long and veered too far off from it's original premise. After all, the series wasn't named Steve and Carl. It was called Family Matters with an accent on "Family."

Yeah, after Jaleel White's voice changed, (and when Myra came into the show) it should've stopped. So therefore. 2nd-3rd season would have to be my fave, I guess. Though, I like Mr. Looney. Actually, it's Looné, it's French, sorry.

It was over after the 5th season. They did too many UNreal things after that. The first Stephan episode was funny. After that, it was just stupid. But for me the 2nd season was the funniest. Not too much Urkel, but just enough.

My favorite seasons would have to be:

1992-1993 season: Great episodes in that time frame

1993-1994: THE season! The year of Stefan

1994-1995: Great season as well

1995-1996: the stories got wackier

and it all went down from here.

My favorite season was actually the ninth. I thought Family Matters deserved to have one last chance at a good season to bring it back from all that excessive wackiness, and the ninth was it. And I at least thought Steve and Laura were meant to get together by the end of the series. :)

Great show, all around. I enjoyed it very much.

I have a question. Now, at the end of the pilot, it said "1987". So... did this season run from '87 to '98? Or, did they not start the first season 'til a year/few years later?

It sort of turned into a fantasy during the 7th season. After all, if Urkel had really invented a teleporter, instant cloner, and time machine he would have been the greatest genius in the history of the world! Inventions like that would have changed all mankind forever!

That's absolutely right! It started as a nice family situation comedy and ended up being some kind of a SFC wannabe!

My favorite season was the last season because Laura finally fell in love with Steve, and I thought that was sweet!

The third season is definetley my favorite. It is the first year that Waldo becomes a full time charachter, and Steve Urkel becomes the star of the show.

I'm not sure... I want to watch all the episodes again(at least through the 94 season) before I say... there are many episodes from the 90-91 season and a few from the 91-92 season I haven't seen or it has been years since I have and I can't recall them so I want to see them and the other seasons I haven't seen in awhile(outside of a few episodes I have on tape from TBS and WGN) I liked the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th the best.

Nope, the Pilot of Family Matters first aired on September 22nd, 1989. The idea for Family Matters wasn't started til early 89. Harriette Winslow was just starting to be on Perfect Strangers in 1987/1988.

I loved the first three seasons of this show because at that time they did not blow Urkel's character out of proportion. It is hard to pick between those three. So seasons 1-3 are my favorites.

My favorite seasons are 2/3 because Waldo had become a recurring character Steve was getting alot of attention, but not too much, Lt. Murtaugh was also a recurring character those yrs (I don't know why he left so soon), as well as Maxine, and all the family members including Judy,Richie, Rachel, and Mother Winslow were still appearing in just about every episode. The show also did much better in the ratings those 2 yrs. I liked the extended theme song they used, and Jaleel White was at the perfect age to play Urkel.

Yes I agree. In my opinion Family Matters was at its peak in season 2/3.

Obviously the reason the show starting focusing much more on Steve and the younger cast such as Waldo,Maxine,Laura,Eddie,Weasal,Greta and Myra by the start of the 4th season, is because the show was becoming very popular with kids. The ironic part is, the show started falling in the ratings when they started doing that.
