View Full Version : Article on Don Knotts Leaving the Show May '65 JAlanRuss72 07-02-2013, 04:55 PM http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1144&dat=19650507&id=vXsbAAAAIBAJ&sjid=Pk8EAAAAIBAJ&pg=7273,3087698 Found this interesting~ DVDLover 07-02-2013, 06:25 PM Andy should have ended the show after Don left, it just wasn't the same Will and Grace Fanatic 07-04-2013, 02:47 PM I don't think so...I've been watching the show on Netflix and still find it to be really well written. It did change a little to a show centering more on the other characters of the show instead of just Andy and Barney. biffbronson 09-08-2013, 12:51 AM Andy should have ended the show after Don left, it just wasn't the same And put a whole lot of actors, writers, crew, and staff all out of work? Wouldn't that have been a real shame? And had that happened, Mayberry RFD probably would never have existed either. Samme 09-08-2013, 10:33 PM Andy didn't really have a direction for his career after the show ended, so if it had stopped before those final three years his career would've just been adrift that much sooner. Those ninety or so color episodes were better than anything else he did after the show. They were also a step up from Mayberry RFD, so maybe he should've done a couple more seasons. I've wondered if he later regretted stopping the show. He was back twice in shows a year or two later that didn't work at all. Will Dockery 08-29-2023, 01:07 AM http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1144&dat=19650507&id=vXsbAAAAIBAJ&sjid=Pk8EAAAAIBAJ&pg=7273,3087698 Found this interesting~ Excellent find, nice look at some vintage comic strips from 1965 as well. rusty spike 08-29-2023, 11:18 AM I found an add to the left page of the Pittsburgh article. It's a paint ad for "Barney's" Will Dockery 08-29-2023, 11:35 AM Andy didn't really have a direction for his career after the show ended, so if it had stopped before those final three years his career would've just been adrift that much sooner. Headmaster was a good try at something different, and the New Andy Griffith Show was simply bizarre. Andy Griffith finally found a winner with Matlock many years later, of course, but those must have been some lean years of uncertainty before he finally hit with that series. Dude111 09-01-2023, 09:30 PM Andy should have ended the show after Don left, it just wasn't the sameMaybe he thought he could make it work.... Will Dockery 09-02-2023, 05:39 AM Maybe he thought he could make it work.... And it did work, for years more. Don Knotts actually probably wished he'd stayed on a little longer, probably. |
