I forgot to mention that Allan Melvin, perhaps best known for his role as Sam "The Butcher" Franklin on The Brady Bunch, turned 80 years of age Monday!!!

Allan is also known as Barney, Archie's Friend, on All in the Family and Archie Bunker's Place.

Allan Melvin also played Sergeant Hacker on "Gomer Pyle, USMC" and was excellent as usual in the role. It was fun to watch him always trying to get one over on Sergeant Carter.

Mr. Melvin also had some guest roles on "The Andy Griffith Show", including the competitor for Howard Sprague's girlfriend (IMHO she worked at a bakery). Even though he played an antagonist his presence made the episode one worth watching ad infinitum.

In All In The Family Alans first appearance was as a desk Sargent In the one when archie gets arrested trying to save Meathead In the Protest.

Allan Melvin also was a regular on The Phil Silvers Show (AKA Sgt. Bilko)
Plus he did numerous voices in Hanna Barbera cartoons.
