I know Cliff Huxtable is always thought of as being one of the best t.v. dads, but I find him to be really nauseating. All he does is bitch about wanting the kids to move out of the house and joke about killing and abusing his children. Is that really great parenting? And for somebody that is so rich he is incredibly cheap and would rarely buy his kids things. And he was always sucking up to that idiot father of his. I just saw the first episode with Russell and right at the beginning of the episode Cliff told Theo not to let anyone in the house unless it was a pregnant women, so Grampa comes over UNANNOUNCED (rude) and Theo tells him his Dad was tired from working so much and didn't want to be disturbed (which was true.) Cliff finds out and berates Theo for the rest of the episode and keeps insulting his intelligence and gives Theo a crap ton of chores to do including wiping off the table and loading the dishwasher which Claire specifically asked CLIFF to do. I'll save my thoughts on Russell for another day.

I always much prefered Carl Winslow. I thought he was a far superior father. He was a police officer who helped clean up the tough streets of Chicago, wasn't too strict or too lenient, stood up for Eddie when he was being discriminated against, was always there to help out in a dilemma, was a father figure to Steve even though Steve was irritating as he was essentially neglected at home, and even adopted 3J. I always thought Carl was a funny, jolly person and I wish I had a dad like that.

between the two Carl winslow did seem to be the more fun dad.

Cliff on the otherhand was more serious and informative about life lessons
