Exclusive: "The Good Wife" Targets "Hunted's" Melissa George for Major Season 5 Role
by Michael Ausiello

In what could be viewed as promising news for fans of Alicia and Will, "The Good Wife" is throwing some hard-to-resist temptation Peter’s way.

TVLine has learned exclusively that "Hunted" heroine Melissa George is joining the CBS drama’s Season 5 cast in the recurring role of Marilyn, newly-elected Governor Florrick’s in-house ethics counsel.

The character is described as smart, sexy, savvy and, by her very job description, a stickler for honesty and observing the rules. (Side note: Wait until Ms. M finds out about that whole vote-rigging thingy. Or maybe that’s why she was retained in the first place!)

by Michael Ausiello

"The Good Wife" is adding another (very pretty) notch to Kalinda’s bedpost boots.

The CBS drama has tapped English actress Juliet Rylance to join the Season 5 cast as a new love interest for Archie Panjabi’s sexually open sleuth Kalinda, TVLine has learned exclusively.

She will play the recurring role of Holly, a whip-smart Assistant State’s Attorney who shares a past with Kalinda.

"The Good Wife" kicks off its fifth season on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 9/8c.

"The Good Wife" Exclusive: Kalinda's New Love Interest Cut From Season 5
by Michael Ausiello

Kalinda’s highly-touted new romance on "The Good Wife" is over before it began.

TVLine has learned exclusively that Juliet Rylance — who was set to debut in last month’s premiere as Holly, a whip-smart Assistant State’s Attorney who shares a past with Kalinda — will not be turning up after all.

Rylance did shoot several scenes for the Sept. 29 opener, but they were cut for time, per a "Good Wife" insider, who stresses that the English actress was technically only committed to doing one episode (with the possibility of it evolving into a recurring gig).

"The Good Wife" Boss: Kalinda's Love Interest Erased From Premiere Out of "Overabundance of Caution"
by Michael Ausiello

He’s been off the show for nearly a year but Kalinda’s loathsome ex-husband Nick is still causing problems.

Responding to TVLine’s report earlier this week that Kalinda’s latest love interest (played by Juliet Rylance) had been cut from "The Good Wife‘s" Sept. 29 premiere, executive producer Robert King explained that the move was made out of “an over-abundance of caution” in the wake of last season’s much-maligned Nick plot.

“We didn’t have the time in the episode to build up the chemistry [between the pair], so we put a pause on the storyline,” he told a group of reporters following a screening of the CBS drama’s game-changing Oct. 27 episode. “We just didn’t want to make a mistake again.”

However, King emphasized that the storyline is not dead. “We’re putting a pause on it — it’s not going away,” he stressed. “Whatever news reports that say it’s going away it’s not at all.”

Rylance’s busy schedule could prove to be an obstacle though. The English actress has since committed to starring in Cinemax’s 10-episode Steven Soderbergh-helmed drama "The Knick".

Kalinda is so underused this season. Such a waste too as she's a fantastic character. I love when she's onscreen. I will say that I'm glad they've expanded David Lee's character. He cracks me up.
