Hey guys,

25 years ago, the NBA on CBS saw the 1988 NBA Finals in which Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers took on Isiah Thomas and the Detroit Pistons and both teams took it to Game #7, but it was the Lakers that came out on top and as a result, the Lakers won the NBA Championship for the 11th time and Magic Johnson won the NBA Championship for the 5th and Final Time and they also became the 2nd team in the history of the NBA Finals to win back to back championships

However, the following year, the Detroit Pistons would return the favor by sweeping the Lakers in a rematch to win their 1st NBA Championship and the Pistons would win another one against the Portland Trailblazers, but then in 1991, when the NBA moved to NBC, the Magic would play one last time in the Finals against the the team Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls (a team that def. the Pistons to win their 1st Eastern Conference Championship)

and the Bulls won their very 1st championship against the Lakers and it would also be the last time that Magic Johnson competed in the NBA Finals, but the Lakers would return to the Finals 12 years later in the 2000 NBA Finals against Reggie Miller and the Indiana Pacers

During the Lakers/Pistons Rivalry, Pat Riley was the Head Coach for the Lakers while the late Chuck Daly was the Head Coach for the Pistons

and that's your look @ an NBA Moment from 25 years ago:

I was very surprised when Magic retired because of HIV. I was shocked because i liked him. Pistons and Lakers series in 1988 was very good. Magic got the Lakers to the finals for the last time in 1991 against the Bulls and even though the Lakers lost, it was good to see Magic against Michael Jordan.

I also want to point out something else:

This was also the last time that Pat Riley won an NBA Championship with the Lakers, but Riley would win another NBA Title as Coach 18 years later with the Miami Heat and when the Heat won their 1st NBA Championship in 2006, it was Riley's 1st as a coach and it was Shaq's 4th and Final NBA Championship and the 1st for Alonzo Mourning, Gary Payton and Antoine Walker

It was also the 1st for Dwyane Wade
