Some interesting ads.
Thought the date being incorrect under the The New Bowling Ball rehearsal shot was interesting...
Oct. 25, 1952 is Halloween Party.

A glaring mistake on the 6th pic in this set.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer, October 1, 1955. But I thought Stage Show/The Honeymooners were on the schedule from 8-9, but the listing (and this ad) says Stage Show at 7, and The Honeymooners aired at 7:30???

There was a time change at some point during the season. Gleason appeared on Beat the Clock to promote the change in 1956.

Stage Show and The Honeymooners switched time slots but what I am trying to figure out is why the shows are scheduled 1 hour earlier in Cleveland in an Eastern time zone. The official time was 8 and 8:30pm and th schedules say 7 and 7:30. My reasoning would be daylight savings time but was curious what others thought, not the schedule switch.

The blog that the TV Guide clippings comes from is fantastic, if for no other reason the blog is dedicated to the Toledo market. My home market, the heart of it all.

Love the photo of Gleason's characters for a ride of Kramden's bus!!
This is from the Jan 1, 1955 TV Guide. This was week 1 of a 4 week tribute to Disneyland called "Disneyland Album."

I believe this is from one of the color shows, but the name escapes me. The eBay auction says it's from a 1973 Ed Sullivan special: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-Jackie-Gleason-and-Ed-Sullivan-Press-Photo-57-/190823669661?pt=Art_Photo_Images&hash=item2c6dfa1f9d

The above photo is from "Ship of Fools" 10/1/66.

That Ed Sullivan Special aired Tues, Feb. 20, 1973. The article below says...
"Also highlighted will be a film clip of the memorable performances of Gleason, Art Carney and Audrey Meadows as 'The Honeymooners.'"

I wonder if "Honeymooners" from both 1952-57 & 1966-70 were shown and if there was a special reason why "The Honeymooners" was specifically mentioned?

Does anyone know the link to the Toledo Blog TV Guide Clippings mentioned?

Great Stuff!!

The Color Photo is from a Jackie Gleason Comic Book Cover, From St. John Press.
1955/1956. Not to be confused with Jackie Gleason and the Honeymooners Comic books, by DC, from the same time period

"Ralph Kramden takes an ill-timed look into the future."Could they be referring to "Stars over Flatbush"?

ChrisTV
03-14-2014, 11:55 PM
It could Bill.

TV's Guide's description for "A Matter Of Life And Death" is "A peek at the future spells trouble for Ralph." Both are very similar.

Funny part is the photo used in the ad is from "The New Bowling Ball."

BTW, I found the full comic book photo & included it here.

Thanks so much for these great ads and more! Now, I know when The American Scene/Jackie Gleason Shows were syndicated in the half hour edited versions-1979. The one ad mentions the programs were being sold at the 1979 NATPE convention. I'd still like to someday see those full shows out on video, DVD, Blu-ray, download, etc. sometime.

Around that time, he was airing back-to-back with Benny Hill on that station.

I always thought Hill, after 1964, modeled the format of his own specials on Gleason's American Scene Magazine (of which this show was a half-hour compilation edit), the Nov. 2, 1963 edition of which: a) featured Reggie Van Gleason presiding over a troupe of performing fleas, and the Poor Soul crashing into a brick wall while doing a watch commercial (and Gleason, in real life, breaking his left wrist in doing so); and b) was entered into, and won the Bronze Rose in, the 1964 Montreux TV Festival, which earned it an airing on BBC2 on June 18, 1964. It was thus ironic that Gleason's 1962-66 shows were cut up in the way they were, they must've gotten their cues from the American half-hour edits of Hill's shows.
