Do you think that the whole idea of Gilligan's island and being stranded there for so long was realistic or not? ;)

View Full Version : Realistic, or not? Warm & Fuzzy 02-18-2002, 11:55 AM Do you think that the whole idea of Gilligan's island and being stranded there for so long was realistic or not? ;) :D Céline 02-18-2002, 02:28 PM Well,if you're thinking about those characters on that island! It's not realistic! The Howells couldn't survive all this time without contry club, stocks exchange and all the luxury that the rich people enjoy!Ginger couldn't survive without make-up and no hair dressers. All other castaways wouldn't survive to a big nervous breakdown! With Gilligan on that island even the natives wouldn't survived:lol: Truth 02-19-2002, 03:37 AM It seemed like nothing on Gilligan's Island was realistic, LOL LucyFan 02-19-2002, 04:07 AM Originally posted by JWillhight It seemed like nothing on Gilligan's Island was realistic, LOL Ditto Warm & Fuzzy 02-23-2002, 08:50 PM Originally posted by Céline With Gilligan on that island even the natives wouldn't survived:lol: HAHA! Gilligan isn't THAT much of a trouble is he? :D DJM77 02-23-2002, 09:58 PM Gilligan's Island is one of the most unrealistic sitcoms that I have ever seen but I still like it. Rockapella722 03-02-2002, 12:21 AM (nods head) It is unrealistic... but then... who cares? That's what makes it fun. If we want reality, we can always turn on CNN. GILLIGAN FOREVER!!! tdr 03-02-2002, 10:08 PM If Gilligan's Island even approached believability-- let alone realism-- how could it have been funny? Beruche 03-03-2002, 05:16 AM Everything about the show was unrealistic and thats what I like best about it. :D TJL 03-03-2002, 11:56 AM I think Gilliagn's Island is an extremely realistic portrayal of surviving on an island. I'm surprised Tom Hanks didn't build himself a car out of bamboo in "Castaway." ;) 17Mar59 03-06-2002, 10:00 PM That's why it was called Unreality Tv.:) tdr 03-06-2002, 11:16 PM Originally posted by TJL I think Gilliagn's Island is an extremely realistic portrayal of surviving on an island. I'm surprised Tom Hanks didn't build himself a car out of bamboo in "Castaway." ;) Hey, first things first! Chuck (TH) didn't even think to build a hut like a cottage, or a table and chair, or a recliner or golf clubs, or a pedal-powered dental drill. Of course he should have taken advantage of that bad tooth and made it into a radio. sami dg 03-13-2002, 10:49 PM The whole unrealistic nature of the show is what made it so appealing. I mean if the professor could fashion nails out of tree sap surely he should be able to patch a small hole in a boat. By the way how did the batteries in their radio last so long. It was a cool show and its unbelievable nature is what made it that way. JWood201 03-13-2002, 11:15 PM The batteries were recharged in episode 18. The Professor did it using copper, salt water, and some other stuff. I really don't know how it's done 'cause I'm not much of a science person, but I've heard of other people doing it in science classes. Tiger32 03-21-2002, 12:19 AM Well it was probably as unrealistic as you can get. It was more like being on vacation, than being castaways on some deserted Island. All they really needed was drinks with umbrellas in them, and they would be set. The opening song says "as primitive as can be" NOT! Kristina 03-31-2002, 03:56 PM Originally posted by JWillhight It seemed like nothing on Gilligan's Island was realistic, LOL exactly. Buddy 04-17-2002, 05:19 PM call it whatever you want. realistic or not, its a great show! i thought that some of the episodes seemed were very unrealistic, but sometimes it seemed to be realistic enough. anyway, i think too much realism would have ruined the show, it was very funny and very good just as it was. i wouldnt change it if i had the chance. :D The Perfesser 05-07-2002, 03:23 PM Well obviously no one is as complete a goof as the character Gilligan was. And the various things that happened to them were extremely unrealistic at times. But the basic idea that a small group of people could survive on an island might be real enough, if there was plenty of food, etc. And in the 60's it was probably just possible that you could be stranded and not found on an island as large as the one there were on, though today, with all the "x"-tourism and everything, you'd see a tourist within a month no matter where you go. The most unrealistic thing of all (besides the lack of sexual activity) was the fact that they had this perfect paradise, the perfect society, and still wanted to leave! *ShortCake* 06-03-2002, 08:16 PM Definatly not reality.. but its a great show!! I love it!! :) |
