I was looking at Titanic on IMDB. #1 Box office film for 12 years. Winner of 11 academy awards including best picture. Best special affects and a superb music score. A truly unforgettable motion picture and IMDB gives it a 7.6 rating. So what does IMDB consider a 10 rating?

One movie I've never liked, I'm surprised it was given a 7.6 which to me is extremely generous.

IMDb did not rate it that, the members did.

And all you have to do is read the message boards over there to know not to take them seriously. lol

So it was the members? And you're right Stuck in the 70s. considering some of the opinions I've read over there on movies. I will never take IMDB serious again.

What happens over there is that members who hate something, for whatever reason, will go to its page just to give it the lowest possible rating -- which isn't to say that others won't go "10 out of 10" without a second thought. This is particularly true for well-known, big-budget films that have drawn the most attention at the site.
But the thing that's disturbing is the number of reviews, both for film and TV, that are totally unfair hatchet jobs. Some reviewers are psychopaths who could never see the good in anything.

Though personally I think Titanic is a total yawnfest, it does seem like a low rating for a movie that is popular.
But like others have said, it's the members that rate the films, and you can't take them seriously, because films are often rated unfairly on there, or you have shills giving crappy films higher ratings.

I'm on their message board and I don't/wouldn't pay a monthly fee. There is a deluxe membership with extra perks (don't know what they are) but the message board is free.

Yeah, I believe you have to pay to be an IMDb Pro Member.
