I remember about ten years ago I did a thread about everyone explaining their life stories...it's in the archives now, so I can't really reply on it. For old time's sake, here's the URL if you're interested...]http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=60363
THAT said, I never did explain my life story! It isn't that exciting, but I owe it to the others that did:
I was born October 15, 1984 in Jefferson, Iowa. I pretty much have hung around the area all my life, but now live in Des Moines, Iowa. I didn't go to preschool, but started in Kindergarten. I went through most of my school years not making any friends, but I turned out okay (I think!) Played the trombone in band from Grade 5 until graduation. My high school years were blah looking back on it. To be honest, SO was my playground because basically I had no friends (that sounds ludicrous but it's true). I was obsessed with TV shows, particularly The Facts of Life, which I still love to this day, but not as crazy as I was back then.
Fast forward to today, I have a wonderful ring of friends, co workers and a special someone in my life! Yes, I've developed people skills and understand when it is and is NOT appropriate to say things, lol.
Fresh out of high school (2003), I got a job at Wal-Mart, where I started as a cashier, but throughout my stint there (until February 2013) I've worked in layaway, courtesy desk, and was a customer service manager (CSM), but mostly worked in the connection center (wireless phones). I've had part time jobs at Dollar Tree, Arby's and Hy-Vee Food Store throughout the past ten years along with Wal-Mart. In 2009, I got a part time job at Hampton Inn doing the night audit, which eventually developed into my main employer as a Guest Service Manager, which focuses on social media, internal guest reviews, nightly receptions, and helping at the front desk. I really do love my job. With the way Wal-Mart was running their show nowadays, I thought this was the best opportunity to drop them for good. I plan never to work for Wal-Mart again, but I love my co-workers!
Some life changing events have happened, good and bad. My grandma passed due to diabetes related illnesses September 2006. She was 61. I, myself was overweight (225 lbs.), and lost 50 pounds over the course of a year. I'm now at 170-175. Unfortunately, the same line of illnesses claimed my mother's life in January 2011. She was 46. I have taken a personal vow to not become the victim of a diabetes related illness...I miss my mother every single day and can't wait to see her again. 2011 was a rough year, as mom, my uncle (51) and grandpa (72) all died. My close second cousin died in early 2013. Sorry for the dragging on of that topic.
In 2007, I enrolled at AIB College of Business and became the first in my family to graduate from college. I have an Associate's in Business Administration of Applied Science. I'm halfway done with my Bachelor's, and hope to finish it in the next two or three years. If it weren't for going here, I wouldn't have my job at the Hampton Inn.
I "casually" came out as bisexual in 2003, and everyone's been cool with it. I was single until 2009 until I had a relationship with a guy that lasted barely a month, but in January 2011, I met my fiance Ryan, who yes, puts up with me and my quirky retail entities. We've been together two and a half years. We have purchased a house and are now living in Des Moines.
My hobbies aren't really that interesting to most, but I am into retail (not just Kmart, which has died down since), but love looking at malls, dead malls, shopping centers, and just exploring major urban downtown centers. I am also into mobile phones (Me and the fiance are Sprint customers), drawing, NES and Super NES video games, and are a BIG Starbucks fan.
So there's my life story! Hope you sort of enjoyed reading it! Now, it's time for you all to spill your guts!
Have a good one!
