IFC Renews "Portlandia" for Two More Seasons
Jun 12, 2013
by Robyn Ross

IFC has renewed "Portlandia" for two more seasons, the network announced on Wednesday.

"Portlandia has celebrated sustainable local agriculture, underemployment, avian crafting, gender politics, intense bicycle messengers and so much more," Jennifer Caserta, president and general manager of IFC, said in a statement. "We can now celebrate two more seasons."

The comedy series is created and written by SNL's Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, who also star in the show. Filmed and set in Portland, Ore., each episode features sketches with Armisen and Brownstein playing different characters.

Guest stars over the years have included Kyle MacLachlan, Chloë Sevigny, Jeff Goldblum, Roseanne Barr, Patton Oswalt, and Andy Samberg.

Seasons 4 and 5 will each feature 10 half-hour episodes and premiere in early 2014 and early 2015, respectively.

"Portlandia" Renewed for Seasons 6 & 7
by Kimberly Roots
February 10, 2015

IFC is once more doubling down on "Portlandia", renewing the quirky comedy for Seasons 6 and 7.

Just as it did in 2013, the cabler has ordered the next two seasons at once. Each will clock in at 10 half-hour episodes, IFC announced Tuesday.

Series creators/stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, along with co-creator/director Jonathan Krisel, will remain with the show through Season 7.

“Portland may be a place where young people go to retire, but IFC is not retiring Portlandia,” IFC president Jennifer Caserta said in a statement. “And if you order a book from Toni and Candace at the Feminist Bookstore right now, it might even arrive by the time season seven rolls around.”
