Definitely an odd one.

I think the friend Sandra was last seen with probably has more information that she has admitted. I don't know if I buy her "not wanting to eavesdrop on the phone conversation" story.
I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for Sandra's family to view those X-rated films looking for her. Although I find the possible Soul Train sighting somewhat interesting, and the fact that no one was apparently able to obtain a copy of the episode intriguing, I believe that it was a case of mistaken idnetity as that tip came in ten years after Sandra vanished. I really don't think she and her unborn baby lived much longer after she was last seen.

An article from 2007:
March 26. 2007 6:59AM
Twenty years and still waiting
Mother holds out hope for daughter who went missing in 1987.
SOUTH BEND -- Frances McCoy still hopes that one day her daughter will walk through her door, throw her arms around her and say, "Mom, I'm home."
But she realizes it may never happen.
It's been 20 years this month that Sandra Powell, then 16, was taken from her world. Why or how, McCoy doesn't know for sure.
She may never know. And with each passing year, she realizes the chances of seeing her daughter again grow more remote.
"I still think about her all the time," McCoy said.

That charley page link didn't work for me. I'm going to see if this link works:

Yes, that link works fine. I don't know why the initial one didn't.

I don't see where it said the friend didn't want to eavesdrop, just that they didn't hear what was said.
This and the other one you posted would be good in the "Your Favorite Charley Project stories" thread...just sayin'
What is interesting is that several people would have motives here. The murderer and the father being the 2 biggest ones that stand out.
sssssssssoooooooooouuuuuuuuuulllllllll TRAIN!

It was the Doe Network that made the eavesdrop remark.

Yeah, I figured these would be good cases for the Charley Project favorites thread, but they were so interesting that I thought they deserved their own individual threads.
