View Full Version : Are these 3 ways Antenna TV can become a better channel?

1. Remove Sanford and Son from the schedule

2. Remove All in the Family from the schedule

3. Remove Good Times from the schedule

All 3 shows have been on cable for 10 straight years so why not give us some other classic TV options?

Nothing against The Nanny, but I wish Antenna didn't air it. I love that it airs the Norman Lear shows. I wish that the network would stick to pre-1990s programming, otherwise it'll just become another TVLand or N@N eventually.

My five issues with Antenna TV

1. Good Times

2. All in the Family

3. Sanford and Son

4. The Nanny

5. Timeslot for Benson

My issues:
1. Married...With Children
2. The Nanny

I just wish that when they traded off those shows with ME TV they had gotten new ones instead of bringing back those 2. No offense to anyone who likes them or anything I'm just not a fan. That and they are to new for Antenna TV.

If anything they're underusing the Lear library. There's gotta be a way they can get the rights to "The Jeffersons", "One Day At A Time", and "Archie Bunker's Place".

I wish Antenna TV would get those shows.

I don't really like these block schedules that the station has gone to. They should air the shows at the same time every day. I agree about the Nanny though. I never really liked that show and it doesn't fit with the rest of the lineup.

Yes, Norman Lear Shows that need to be in the Digital TV World

I wish they 'd bring back Here Come The Brides and Leave It to Beaver. I could live without The Nanny and Good times as well.

My wish list: Room 222, Eight Is Enough, Angie, Bonanza, That Girl.

But I have no complaints against Antenna TV. It's a free channel, and even at that, is many times better than some of the cable nostalgia channels.

They are adding good shows like Benson and Different Strokes but just putting them in bad slots

I wish they would add "One Day at a Time" as well. I never got a chance to watch the show but from what I've heard, I think I would like it. I also wish they aired The Jeffersons. Do Centric or TVOne still air it?
I also wish they aired shows consistently on an everyday basis instead of doing the large blocks, but you get what you get, right? At least they are airing them!!
I also miss Leave it to Beaver on Antenna. It's on ME-TV though. I happened to catch it one afternoon.

Bad slots? What is this, 1973? Wake up buddy! We've been able to timeshift and record shows since the Betamax came out in 1975! You need to get in your AMC Pacer and go see Sam Drucker down at the general store so he can hook you up with one of those new fangled VCR contraptions.

The way my cable and internet is hooked up, I am only able to record a tv show while watching another if I disconnect the internet.

So that is why it's hard for me to record shows while watching another show because it interferes with my internet access. So my options is to

1. Record the show and disconnect the internet
2. Forget the show and stay connected to the internet.

I wish they would have kept Diff'rent Strokes on Wednesdays and put the All in the Family block on Fridays and put the black and white block on Saturdays and gotten rid of the Saturday night movie block. They show too many movies. I don't understand why they show so little Benson and at a bad timeslot too. It lasted so long it needs more time. It only gets two episodes a week, yet stupid Saturday and Sunday afternoon shows like Gidget and Flying Nun that only lasted one or two seasons get four shows a week and they have been run to death ever since the beginning of Antenna TV. It's alright that they show some All in the Family because it's not on cable anywhere right now, but they have probably overdone it on Good Times and Sanford and Son, and those are on TV One. It would be nice to see The Jeffersons but that's not a real big priority for me since I can see it on another one of my local channels. But I would really love to see One Day at a Time since I have never seen it before. Archie Bunker's Place would be nice too. I'm not a fan of Married With Children and while I like the Nanny ok, it's not my absolute favorite and neither really should be on Antenna TV. This started out as a good network in 2011 and brought many shows in the first year, but 2013 has been a big disappointment due to lack of new shows and poor scheduling decisions.

This is the second time in 7 years that a channel has not given me a opportunity to watch benson. First TV Land in 2006 and now Antenna TV in 2013. Maybe Benson will end up on TV one like Gimmie A Break

I think that they should stay out of "The Nanny" and "Married...With Children" territory for fear of becoming another Nick at Nite or TVLand.

But you can set a DVD or VHS recorder to burn or record the shows, and watch them whenever you want. For example, I'd never be able to get up at 4am to watch Hazel (the time it was airing when I began watching Antenna)

My flat screen TV is hooked up to a cable box and VHS/DVD recorder which is also connected to a modem for the internet.

If I want to record a show on another channel, I have to disconnect the internet so that I can use the splitter to connect the box to the other TV so I can record.

1-NO
2-NO
3-NO

Better idea...

1-Bring in "Soap" and "The Facts of Life" since AntennaTV plays SONY-pwned shows.

2-Have other shows be played less as variety.

3-Maybe have H-B Cartoons that were played between 1957 and 1967 (The Columbia Years).

Do you get Cozi Tv? The Lone Ranger and Roy Rogers are showing, also Tales of Wells Fargo, Tales of Jim Bowie and Hopalong Cassidy.

THIS Tv shows Highway Patrol, Sea Hunt, Patty Duke, Mr. Ed, Green Acres and Outer Limits...all worthy old TV watching.

I believe its the Hallmark Channel shows a large several hour block of Mr. Ed on Sat/Sun mornings...when I can't sleep I'll turn them on and watch a few, they still make me laugh.

Hawaii 5-0 is on MeTv and a few of the others you mentioned are on at various times on Me also. I'm so glad to see Family Affair for the summer and also the Mothers-In-Law. They have a nice selection of old war type shows also if you are of the persuasion to watch (or dvr) around 3 a.m.

Honeymooners is on MeTv @ 1:30 a.m. EST...enjoy those also. MeTv actually has a pretty good mix, but you really have to peruse the schedule, lots of stuff is on at weird times. That Girl, Petticoat Junction, Perry Mason and a lot more. I just looked at the scheduling and I've been missing The Lucy Show...may add that to my tapings. I do tend to dvr a lot of stuff though for watching when I'm ready.

That Girl is on at 6:30 a.m. weekdays, while it used to be scheduled a little later. Currently Season 1 is airing. Perry Mason continues at 10 a.m. -- I think it too has returned to early episodes, and is followed by Burr's Ironside at 11 a.m.

Another good series is The Donna Reed Show (7:30 a.m.) -- once again they have returned to early eps. And it's worth seeking out The Danny Thomas Show / Make Room for Daddy in the early morning.

I may be mistaken, but I think MeTV has placed Petticoat Junction on hiatus for now.

You may be right about PJ...it was on pretty early in the a.m. Seems maybe The Lucy Show replaced PJ. I dvr Donna Reed, My Three Sons, Make Room for Daddy, Mothers In Law, Family Affair and the Honeymooners. MRFD was on every morning, but I guess for the summer they switched things up by having Family Affair on daily..and now MRFD is on Sundays. I'm thankful to watch all these shows, although I have to admit, I get sad sometimes watching, seeing most of these greats that are no longer with us. I especially look at how dear and cute Anissa Jones was as Buffy, and the end she came to :(

I just found The Bold Ones on Cozi, and enjoy the medical episodes, so I'm going to start dvr'ing that show also. I only wish there were less commercials...but thankfully I can ff'd thru them:D

I watched many Bachelor Father episodes also, and still catch one on a Sunday. I watched Marcus Welby pretty religiously too, but it seems they keep showing the same episodes over and over and I know there were quite a few seasons to that show, so I've given upon those too for awhile.

Well clearly this is something I have to do because I had no idea half of the shows you mentioned were even on the network much less currently on the air!! Does it differ by affiliates?

biffbronson
06-28-2013, 05:47 AM
Some affiliates air other programming at times, like paid programs (infomercials) but for the most part, MeTV has stuff that appears on "most."

Another exception is that if you have another local channel that already airs for example the original Hawaii Five-O, MeTV will air a replacement (in my area, the replacement for quite a while was The Streets of San Francisco).

mets82
06-28-2013, 08:34 PM
Yes, my ME-TV affiliate does air paid programming, which I hate:mad:

I do miss out on certain shows. Paid programming airs from 10pm to 2am and then I think, 6AM TO 9AM. And on weekends ME-TV starts at 2pm. That really annoys me.

I'm missing Family Affair, The Lucy Show and That Girl, The Odd Couple and The Honeymooners and that's just from Mon. to Fri.

Make Room For Daddy, Gomer Pyle, Dobie Gillis on Sat. and Sun. I don't get it. All the shows I want to see, I can't see.
