This character, who is also Amy's father, needs to be played by better actor than this one.

The actor who plays Hank McDougal is Fred Willard. Most of the roles I have seen Mr. Willard in are comedies where he plays stupid/funny/goofy/friendly character and this role was against type to most of the roles he plays. Maybe he has played other "serious characters", the guy has been around since the 1970's.

I think he did it well, and actually some of my favorite episodes were the later ones with the McDougal family. But McDougal himself was the antogonist, unfortunately, he was up against master antogonizers with Frank and Marie.

Fred Willard plays Hank McDougall in Everybody Loves Raymond.

I thought he did real well for the role he was playing. Maybe you just don't like the character and have a hard time separating the two? I have that problem sometimes. I can't stand Debra and sometimes I have a hard time remembering that I shouldn't feel the same for the actress (Patricia Heaton).

Wait a minute! Fred Willard does not fit in this show as a guest and main character! They should either get a better actor to play Hank or Hank should be a guest character played by Fred instead!
