So sad to hear of Jean's passing. She will always be Archie's "Dingbat"... :(

Jean Stapleton is now united with Carrol O'Connor.

I adored AITF, and Jean's contribution can NEVER be underestimated. She breathed life into Edith just as Carroll did Archie. She could have easily made Edith a joke, but she made her into a real and incredibly likeable human being.

I always wished she would have been more comfortable talking about the show, but everyone reacts to a show's success in different ways. Just her work alone is enough statement, ultimately.
