WCCB (Channel 18) will no longer be a fox affiliate in Charlotte, NC as of July 1. This is sad for me because WCCB has been fox since it began and I have watched lots of great shows on WCCB.

I remember when Fox first came out. I watched the first episode of Married with Children and the Tracey Ullman show and thought they were both stupid. I thought this network will never last. The only program I really watched on Fox was The Adventures of Beans Baxter (does anyone remember that show).

Then in 1990 during the summer, I was at my Grandmothers home and there was nothing on tv. We watched The Simpsons, Married with Children and In Living Color. I have never laughed so hard in my life. I then fell in love with FOX. Sunday nights were the best and in addition to this show I loved Parker Lewis Can't Lose. I use to dress like Parker Lewis.

There were really no shows for young people and along came Beverly Hills 90210 and then Melrose Place. Soon I was watching FOX all the time. Other great shows I enjoyed where King of The Hill, The Cleveland Show, The OC, America's Most Wanted, American Idol (which I no longer watch).

It is so sad that WCCB will not be a fox station anymore and will now join the CW. No doubt their ratings will drop big time.

WCCB was as ABC station. On July 1, 1978 WSOC became the ABC station and WCCB become an independent station for about 10 years. They would show "The 8 O'Clock Movie". They greatly improved their ratings with FOX and became the home of the Charlotte Panthers and many races which are big in the south. Now exactly 35 years later (isn't that ironic), they lose their network again. Thanks for the great memories.

WJZY (Channel 46) will now be FOX in Charlotte.

I used to love watching WCCB when they were an independent station.

In Memphis, the ABC and the Fox affiliate swapped about 15 years ago. I think in the end, it will be a bit confusing, since you are accustomed to this channel being the affiliate. You will still get FOX, so what is the fuss?

I know I will still get Fox and see the same programs. I am just saying it is sad for this station. They have 10PM newscast that have high ratings and people will probably stop watching. Channel 46 would be very smart to add a competing newscast.
