by Robyn Ross
Neil Patrick Harris will host the Emmy Awards for the second time, CBS announced on Wednesday.
"Neil is the quintessential host — engaging, entertaining and a true showman — with a passion for celebrating the medium we all love," Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment, said in a statement. "We're thrilled for him to return for CBS's broadcast of the Emmy Awards."
Harris, who stars on the CBS comedy "How I Met Your Mother", hosted in 2009, which was the last time that CBS broadcast the awards show. He'll be hosting this year's Tony Awards, also on CBS, for the fourth time.
"I couldn't be more honored and excited to be hosting this year's Emmy Awards," Harris added in a statement. "And what perfect timing — I'll just do the exact same script I'm about to use for the Tonys. 'And the Emmy for Best Revival of a Musical goes to Breaking Bad! See, told you it works."
Harris has three Emmys himself, two for the Tony Awards and one for his guest role on "Glee".
The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards will broadcast live from L.A.'s NOKIA Theatre on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 8/7c.
