Honestly, I watch Nick at Nite more now than I did before. I usually just watch Nick at Nite for Friends and sometimes Full House. For me, there's usually nothing else on which is why I watch them although I'm to the point I could probably recite each episode's dialogue, I've seen them so much.

I haven't watched NAN in a long time. I think they've had good shows from time to time but I think they started to lose their creativity around 2000. Back in the 90s, their promotions, marathons, stunts, etc were SO unique. Even though they've had good shows at times, it's become just another channel with reruns.

Totally agree with this. I used to love their classic commercials and when they would do stuff like the Casey Kasem countdown. Then in the 2000's they just started airing random blocks of The Cosby Show or whatever other show and it became less fun. Haven't watched it regularly in years.

I still watch Nick at Nite. I don't think it went down hill really. I would prefer however if the only showed reruns of past broadcast network shows instead of making their own programming now.

Some time in the late 80s when they started to cut shows.

Nick at Nite went downhill in 2011-2012 with "Friends" invading the family sitcom block.

I think they went down hill when they started putting the cosby show roseann and now friend's and that 70s show. I also think tv land is going down hill also now friends is coming to tv land in June I also think they went down hill when they aried every one loves Raymond and when they got ride of I love Lucy and Sanford and son I watch it for few more years when they showed threes company they cut it off too. also when they aired csi and extreme home make over what's next Seinfeld what about sex and the city?

Around the early 2000's or so. They still had good shows then, but that's when I started to watch it much, much less. Haven't watched it at all in years.

When Nick at Nite gradually added more shows from the 70's on, that was nails in the coffin.

I think it's definitely 2002. They still had block party summer in 2000 and in 2001 they were airing Gilligan's Island, Three's Company, I Love Lucy, Diff'rent Strokes, ALF, and Wonder Years for example.

2002 they started airing Kids Say the Darndest Things with extremely long blocks of only a few shows - Three's Company, Cheers, and of course, the Cosby Show. To be honest, those are the only 3 shows I even remember them airing in 2002. Possibly Family Ties was on at like 2am or something like that, but it definitely started going downhill that year. Then in 2003-2004 they started getting obsessed with endless marathons of Roseanne and the Fresh Prince.

I loved Nick at Nite most from 1996-2002. I think 2004 was their last great year.

I would also say that the Cosby Show was the final nail in the coffin for me. I never watched N@N after that. But looking back, I think the decline began in 1997 when they added both Newhart and the Wonder Years. Both of those shows were just too recent to be on N@N at the time. IMO they jumped too far ahead in the TV history timeline, and should have been playing more late '60s shows instead, like Family Affair, That Girl or the Flying Nun. But this was around the time they had just launched TV Land, so N@N was rebranding itself from a "Classic TV" network to "The Place for TV Hits".

I do think it improved somewhat in 1998 when they added the color episodes of Bewitched, and then the Brady Bunch and Laverne & Shirley that summer. But it was never the same as when the majority of their shows were B&W ones that had not been played to death already on TBS or in local syndication (Patty Duke, Donna Reed, My Three Sons, Ann Sothern, etc.)

I agree with those who responded to the early 2000s.

Even though I like Three's Company, I think it was this show that forever changed the course of N@N. The ratings from TC opened their eyes and the went from 50-60-70 era shows to 1990s. I remember that they attempted a "Revenge of the 80s" marathon and they added shows like Diffrent Strokes. I don't think it got the ratings and ended up in bad time slots around 2am. Maybe FOL ended up there as well.

It wasn't long before 1990s shows were added.

Early 2000s although I’d take The Cosby Show and Roseanne any day over Friends and SpongeBob Squarepants

When they switched from Classic TV to the same ol' recent reruns (Rosanne, etc.). Seems like Viacom networks wanted to dump nostalgia to pursue a more "relevant" programming agenda. The same reason spinoff TVLand failed when they dumped classics to make new shows with the old flavors but modern content. And the same reason The Disney Channel died when they stopped showing Walt era library (see also Disney+) to serve tweens.

The best Nick at Nite era was Donna Reed, Bewitched, Beaver, Jeannie, Dick Van Dyke, Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, etc. Not only were they presented in a fresh and fun way but brought these shows to new generations in the guise of camp (--but the quality and sincerity came through).

The digital broadcast channels Me-TV/Decades/Antenna/Cozy are the Nick at Nite/TVLand of today. Too bad they don't have the same cable coverage. I got rid of cable because the free broadcast channels were the only ones I was watching beyond network, TCM and Comedy Central. I wish there was a Vault Disney digital channel.

When NICK at NITE turned 20. They gave no promotion until 3 days in to the event.Instead of showing Lassie My Three Sons Donna Reed Dennis the Menace Mister Ed Bewitched Make Room For Daddy The Patty Duke Show and Laugh-In and The Monkee’s and more on NICK at NITE they put it on TVLand. While NICK at NITE aired a bunch of 1980’s Sitcoms.

Definitely when they changed there graphics from NICK at NITE to NICK@NITE.

I remember I was excited when 2012 came around they Returned The Brady Bunch. I thought it was going to air at 9:00pm where it saw much success. Unfortunately, with little promotion and giving it a 6:30AM time slot it was quietly pulled and was said it wasn’t pulling the ratings like it use to. Here I found out the only reason they got it was to run on another Viacom channel called nick mom. Recalling the show What Carol Brady Was Thinking and attempted to be funny but failed miserably.

Even though we have Me TV & Antenna TV it still would be wonderful if NICK at NITE would introduce these 1950’s 1960’s and 1970’s Sitcoms to its New audience. Considering Me TV doesn’t air any Sitcoms at NITE from these decades besides 2 on Sunday Nights and Antenna TV does a Super job Saturday night. It would be wonderful to have a place for Classic tv all NITE & EveryNITE once again!

Year was 2005, and all cable networks decided to give classic tv fans the middle finger and gear programming/ reruns towards the gen-x (90's early 2000's) must see tv crowd. This was also the year they really started embracing reality tv for quick garbage ratings. Anyone else remember
TVLands Chasing Farah debacle?

You could no longer watch Looney Tunes on Cartoon Network or Boomerang, classic tv on Nick at Nite or TVLand, music videos on MTV or VH1, classic science fiction on the Sci-Fi channel, history on the History Network, or todays weather on the Weather Channel.

The only channel that was able to stay on course, was TCM. This was probably because of Robert Osborne.

I remember there was that period of several years when there was no classic programming at all on cable - I felt like all my old friends had gone away. Then, thankfully, we got the digital subchannels.

As for classic sitcoms at night - Decades now has that too (plus the weekend Binges). Decades is increasingly my go-to channel - I hope they can expand their reach.

Brady Bunch actually aired from 5am-6am, not 6:30am, and also were off the clock at that time. I honestly was shocked and not expecting that to return although it wasn't fitting. Most sitcoms were 90s and 2000s. They were airing Everybody Hates Chris, My Wife and Kids, George Lopez, Friends, and Yes Dear. But unlike this year which lacks variety, early 2010s has more variety
