View Full Version : Samantha was a WEIRDO
TVFactFan 05-25-2013, 05:26 PM Actually she maybe the weirdest the female teenager I ever seen on any TV sitcom. LOL
Looking at the episode with her having a imaginary friend and her father wants her to see a shrink:lol:
gidgetgrape 05-25-2013, 05:41 PM I like Samantha, but her character seems a bit underdeveloped compared to the rest of the girls.

All of Vanessa's boyfriends were strange.
I think that when GAB started, Katie was the pretty one, Julie was the smart one and Samantha was the quirky, tomboy. But, when they got Joey they had a REAL boy so they reduced Sam's role.

I HATED that weirdo, bratty twerp Samantha! No normal teenager has an imaginary friend. She definitely had a lot of mental issues. And she was SUCH a brat! Remember when she stole the chief's police car so she could go on a joy ride? She was having issues then, too. I don't know how Nell and Chief Kanisky put up with that kookoo bird!
On a side note, the girl who played Katie was HOT! :)

This reminds me of another strange thing about Samantha. In that episode, she used the n-word and then in another season she tricked Joey into wearing blackface at Nell's church. She was so young and was probably in school with black kids, that it seems unusual for her to pull the race card like that. I would have expected her to poke fun at Nell's size before race.

She used the N-word? Toward Who???

In "Samantha Steals A Squad Car," Nell and the Chief are yelling at each other about his hat, which Nell accidentally sat on and flattened. Samantha is upset because she got into a fight with a girl who called her a Polish slur. She keeps interrupting Nell and the Chief and they kept telling her "not now Samantha." Finally, Samantha says, "How would you like it if someone called you a N--?" Nell and the Chef who had been facing each other, turn and look at her. Then the Chef tells her she's going to get the spanking of her life.
It's on YouTube, go see it!

The kid who called Samantha a Polish slur should have called her "mental case" instead.

By the time Samantha tricked Joey into wearing blackface, Nell had forgotten all about Samantha's comment in the "Samantha Steals A Squad Car" episode. Strange. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUADRIuRa14
Smartboy 05-26-2013, 11:25 AM In the first place, I would really like to say how amazed I am that someone finally thought of a topic that was able to stimulate so much conversation so fast! Next, I would like to say that, even though I never really felt attracted to Samantha, there were some cases in which I really admired her attitude. A good case and point is the third-season episode "Samantha's Protest". I really admired her commitment to her cause and her willingness to give of herself for what she believed in. I feel that she really deserved the date with the handsome boy from the protest that she mentioned at the end. When Katie optimistically asked if he was going to be working at the new Mexican restaurant, I thought that Samantha's attempt at having some fun with the situation was very cleaver. After saying that he did get a job there, she went on to say that he never thought that he would meet a girl that he wanted to date in jail. Katie (who had flirted her butt off with him) said a very snotty "did you hear that Julie?" She said this to Julie because earlier in the episode, Julie told Katie that, on their way home from the dry cleaners, the boy was not whistling at her he was calling his dog. While Katie was salivating, Samantha said that he was taking her to a movie the next day! At this point, we saw a very big smile on Julie's face! Because Julie was always my favorite, I really enjoyed seeing her get so much enjoyment from the situation!

HOT Katie lost a guy to nerdy Samantha?

Yes, believe it or not she did! I thought it was a great form of poetic justice given Katie's attitude and behavior. The episode is called "Samantha's Protest" and it has two uploads on Youtube. I would say that the one uploaded four years ago is of slightly better quality than the newer one. I would be very interested in what you think of the episode!

I never saw that episode. I'll have to check it out.

If you punch this episode in on Youtube, I am sure that you will enjoy it! Especially if you like stories that deal with poetic justice. I thought it was great seeing Katie giddy with no place to go!

I watched the episode a few hours ago. Samantha was less bratty in this episode which is good. She was actually tolerable to me. But I thought the entire family was very harsh with the chief when he had to arrest them. What else could he do? Quit his job on the spot? How would that help anyone? The family should have understood. The chief was doing his job. They are the ones who didn't understand.
You know what's funny? That guy who ended up asking Samantha out never even talked to her once in the episode.

You are correct, the handsome boy who ended up asking Samantha for a date did not speak to her once for the duration of the episode! I guess that he was admiring her from afar! In any event, I agree with Julie that Katie's attempts to get him to ask her out were disgusting. She should have gotten her hormones in check and kept her mitts to herself! I thought that the smile on Julie's face when Samantha burst Katie's bubble was very pretty indeed!
bliss 05-29-2013, 01:19 AM I liked Samantha.
She was the ONLY Kinisky daughter that made appearances in the terrible final season.
