Why in the world would theo agree to work at a inner city after school program for free theo is not old enough to be a role model to those teens, he was like 19 or 20 barely out of high school not only that he not getting paid a dime what a joke, i thought he would have been fired for telling those bratty kids to sit down and shut up lol.

Why would we want to see your mentally challenged topics on this site?

I vaguely remember seeing this episode and I think it's great that he volunteered his time. Who says he's not old enough to be a role model? I think the fact that he did it for no money at all says a lot about his character and his self-worth. Any kind of volunteering, no matter what it is is admirable in my book.

I think this says more about you than Theo.

The real reason Theo took that job is that the producers were trying to set up a potential spin-off series for Malcolm Jamal Warner about Theo working at the community center. Obviously tthe spin-off never happened.

The Here And Now series that Malcolm ended up starring in (and Bill Cosby produced) was similar though.

Really? Wow that would have been awesome! Definitely a unique idea for a show and I could see a lot of possibilities there!

I might be wrong here, but didn't Theo volunteer as a part of his college education?

Yes. Working at the Center was the practical experience portion of Theo's college education.

That was pretty much what it was. Here and Now wasn't that funny though.

Yeah it was very similar. I don't think I knew about it when it premiered because I don't remember watching it on NBC in 1992

They buried it on Saturday night and that was way after NBC's Saturday night lineup had collapsed.

I didn't know that!! That would've been an interesting show!!

Like others have said, I think it was part of his practicum or internship to work at the center.
