This was season 1, episode 2, perhaps better known as the parent's day episode. I think they really dropped the ball on this one. Are we to believe that only Blair's mother showed up and not any of the other parents? That seems a bit hard to believe. I don't think they would have went to the trouble of doing that elaborate party if just one parent was going to show up. They could have had Blair's mother dating one of the other girls' fathers, but instead they just used the father of a girl we didn't know. I think this would have been a good opportunity to see all of the parents and get some guest stars out of it, but one storyline that took up the whole show got in the way of it.

Had they used on an onscreen character, it really would have been tense. I don't like the story. Monica came off being a bit more sluttacious. Planning a hookup with a married man? I hated it. I really would have hated it if it was one of the other main characters. The writers were smart to cast a father of one of the off screen characters.

The actress who played Blair's mother in Season 1 was terrible. Marj Dusay was a definite upgrade!

I agree. Making Blair's mom a slut was awful. They did better later on.

Pamela Huntington was adequate to a degree but I don't think that she would have been able to handle that breast cancer storyline the way Marj Dusay did. Plus, I think Monica should have been cast according to height as well because she was too tall and Blair looked to be close to a foot shorter than her mother. Beautiful lady, though.

It was weird that they couldn't find a woman who remotely resembled the original actress when they replaced her. C'mon, at least hire someone with the same hair color! Then it wouldn't have been so obvious that it was a different actress.

Donna Mills would have been a perfect person to take on the role. Appropriate height and look for the role. She would have have been great. Some of her Abbyisms from "Knots Landing" would have worked great.
