Exactly. No one cares. I don't see it lasting very long. Ratings are down across the board for late night.

Was Arsenio more popular among the urban community? I remember that show being HUGE.

You're out of your mind! No one cares about Arsenio. Remember his show was cancelled the 1st time due to low ratings!

There are other urban late night talk shows that tried to be the next arsenio hall show
The Keenen ivory wayans show (wayans is good in his own right with in living color, but not as talk show host)
Vibe Magazine talk show
The Magic Hour (which was a disaster)

But None of them had the charm and ultimate success that arsenio had.

But arsenio hall show was more than a show, it's been a part of my family for almost 25 years, it's been a part of me.

No chance. Even established talk shows have lower ratings. Arsenio may start off ok but it will eventually bomb.

Because it changed television in a ways that has never seen before since soul train.

You still didn't answer Zoneboy's question. Perhaps you don't have an answer for him. You stated that The Arsenio Hall Show "changed the course of television forever." Zoneboy says "How so?" to your statement. Well? Do you have an answer for him or not? I believe he is looking for SPECIFIC EXAMPLES, not your vague replies.

I loved Arsenio Hall. I watched his first show every night and I never missed it. The dog pound, things that make you hmmmmm, etc. were classic. I can't wait for his next one. You never know what he'll do but I'm glad he's back.

Well, I know that Arsenio helped to changed the way we view politicians. When Bill Clinton went on "The Arsenio Hall Show" and jammed with his band a lot of people who didn't vote or thought that politicians were stuffy became supporters of his. Now, it isn't unusual for the president (or first lady) to pop up on late night TV, but that was new then. One of the reasons that David Letterman teased Mitt Romney so badly was because he didn't visit his show during the election.

Bill Clinton was not the president when he did Arsenio Hall. He was just governor of Arkansas.

Umm..I didn't say he was the president. I said that Bill Clinton's appearance on Arsenio's show increased his votes! It helped him win the election. But, rereading my statement I can see how you read that way.

The original show was cancelled due to low ratings but that was because David Letterman begun his late night show. At that period of time, three late-night series had premiered before the year was out. Also, MTV had premiered the Jon Stewart Show at night. With the debut of several night shows, the affiliates airing Arsenio's show either were forced to drop the series or move it to an undesirable later time slot which was the nail in the coffin for Arsenio's show.

Late night stays white because it’s taken everything it needs from black pioneers like Arsenio Hall. Comedian W. Kamau Bell (http://wkamaubell.com/) weighs in on why that matters.
