New York (Monday, May 13, 2013) – Kevin Reilly, Chairman, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, today unveiled the FOX primetime slate for the 2013-2014 television season to the national advertising community during its annual Programming Presentation at the Beacon Theatre.
“This season, we will strategically launch five inventive live-action comedies, four distinctive dramas, our first-ever event series, as well as some innovative new digital initiatives, across the week and throughout the year,” said Reilly. “We’re making the biggest investment in original programming in our history to ensure that FOX continues to engage viewers and move the culture more than any other entertainment brand.”
DADS and BROOKLYN NINE-NINE are the two new comedies joining the Tuesday night comedy block this fall. DADS, the new live-action, multi-camera comedy from Emmy Award winner Seth MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild (“Ted,” FAMILY GUY), stars Emmy Award winner Seth Green (FAMILY GUY) and Emmy Award nominee Giovanni Ribisi (“My Name is Earl,” “Ted,” “Avatar”) as two successful gaming entrepreneurs – and childhood best friends – whose lives get turned upside down when their pain-in-the-neck patriarchs (Martin Mull, “Two and a Half Men” and Academy Award and Emmy Award nominee Peter Riegert, “The Good Wife,” “The Sopranos”) move in.
From Emmy Award-winning writer/producers Dan Goor and Michael Schur (“Parks and Recreation”) and starring Emmy Award winners Andy Samberg (“Saturday Night Live”) and Andre Braugher (“Men of a Certain Age,” “Homicide: Life on the Street”), BROOKLYN NINE-NINE is a new single-camera workplace comedy about what happens when a hotshot detective (Samberg) gets a new Captain (Braugher) with a lot to prove.
New Army-set sibling comedy ENLISTED premieres in the fall. Written and created by Kevin Biegel (“Cougar Town,” “Scrubs”) and starring Geoff Stults (“Ben and Kate,” “The Finder”), Chris Lowell (“Private Practice,” “Veronica Mars”) and Parker Young (“Suburgatory”), ENLISTED is an irreverent and heartfelt single-camera comedy about an older sibling who returns home to reconnect with his two brothers and lead a group of misfits on a small Florida Army base.
This fall, two new dramas also join the schedule. From co-creators/executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (the “Star Trek” and “Transformers” franchises, “Fringe”) comes the adventure thriller SLEEPY HOLLOW. In this modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic, ICHABOD CRANE (Tom Mison, “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen”) is resurrected and pulled two and a half centuries through time to find that the world is on the brink of destruction and that he is humanity’s last hope, forcing him to team up with a contemporary police officer (Nicole Beharie, “Shame,” “American Violet”) to unravel a mystery that dates back to the founding fathers.
Executive-produced by Emmy Award winner J.J. Abrams (“Fringe,” “Lost,” the “Star Trek” and “Mission: Impossible” franchises) and creator J.H. Wyman (“Fringe,” “The Mexican”) and starring Karl Urban (“Star Trek”), Michael Ealy (“Sleeper Cell,” “Common Law”) and Emmy Award nominee Lili Taylor (“Six Feet Under,”), ALMOST HUMAN is a high-tech, high-stakes action drama set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. An unlikely partnership is forged when a part-machine cop (Urban) is forced to pair with a part-human robot (Ealy) as they fight crime and investigate a deeper cover-up in a futuristic new world.
The new unscripted series set to debut in the fall is JUNIOR MASTERCHEF (working title). The new culinary competition series for talented kids gives budding cooks between the ages of eight and 13 the opportunity to showcase their talent, culinary smarts and passion for food through a series of delicious challenges and cook-offs. Award-winning chef Gordon Ramsay, restaurateur and winemaker Joe Bastianich (Del Posto, Eataly) and acclaimed chef Graham Elliot (Graham Elliot, Graham Elliot Bistro) coach and encourage the promising hopefuls to cook like pros and teach them the tricks of the trade along the way.
New dramas RAKE and GANG RELATED are slated for midseason. Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Greg Kinnear (“Little Miss Sunshine,” “The Kennedys”) makes his broadcast television series debut in the bold new legal drama RAKE, created by Peter Duncan (ABC1 Australia’s “Rake”) and executive-produced by Peter Tolan (“Rescue Me,” “Analyze This”) and Michael Wimer (“2012”). Kinnear is KEEGAN DEANE, one of life’s great addicts, a brilliant and frustratingly charming
criminal defense attorney, whose chaotic and self-destructive personal life often gets in the way of his professional one. Keegan takes on the cases that nobody else will touch, ruled by a resolute optimism, belief in justice and dogged determination to defend those who seem beyond redemption – much like himself.
Gritty new fast-paced drama GANG RELATED follows RYAN LOPEZ (Ramon Rodriguez, “Battle Los Angeles,” “The Wire”), a rising star in Los Angeles’ elite Gang Task Force – led by SAM CHAPEL (Emmy Award winner Terry O’Quinn, “Lost”) – who teams up with longtime Task Force member CASSIUS GREEN (RZA, “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” “Californication”) to take on the city’s most dangerous gangs, including one he has an allegiance to. The series is from creator/writer Chris Morgan (“Wanted,” “Fast Five”), Academy Award-winning executive producer Brian Grazer (“24,” “A Beautiful Mind”), director Allen Hughes (“Dead Presidents,” “Book of Eli,” “Menace II Society”) and executive producer/showrunner Scott Rosenbaum (“The Shield”).
Three new comedies – SURVIVING JACK, US & THEM and MURDER POLICE – are set to debut in midseason. From Emmy Award nominee Bill Lawrence (“Spin City,” “Scrubs,” “Cougar Town”), new single-camera family comedy SURVIVING JACK is based on best-selling author Justin Halpern’s autobiographical book, “I Suck at Girls.” Set in 1990s Southern California, Emmy Award nominee Christopher Meloni (“True Blood,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”) stars as a man becoming a dad, as his son (Connor Buckley, “Deception”) becomes a man, in a time before “coming of age” was something you could Google.
Based on an award-winning BBC series and starring Emmy Award nominee Jason Ritter (“Parenthood”) and Alexis Bledel (“Mad Men,” “Gilmore Girls”), US & THEM is a new single-camera ensemble comedy about a young couple, whose path to happily-ever-after is complicated by the screwed-up circus of people closest to them.
New animated comedy MURDER POLICE expands the boundaries of the cop show genre as only animation can. Executive-produced by David A. Goodman (FAMILY GUY) and created by rising writer/animator/performer Jason Ruiz, the series features the voices of Will Sasso (“The Three Stooges,” “MADtv”), Chi McBride (“Golden Boy”) and Jane Lynch (GLEE), and follows a dedicated, but inept detective (Ruiz) and his colleagues in a twisted city precinct.
New event series WAYWARD PINES will premiere in 2014. Based on the best-selling novel, “Pines,” by Blake Crouch, and brought to life by suspenseful storyteller M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense,” “Signs,”), WAYWARD PINES is an intense, mind-bending thriller in which nothing is what it seems. Secret Service agent ETHAN BURKE (Academy Award nominee Matt Dillon, “Crash,” “City of Ghosts”) arrives in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID, on a mission to find two missing federal agents. But instead of answers, Ethan’s investigation only turns up more questions. Each step closer to the truth takes Ethan further from the life he knew, from the husband and father he was, until he must face the terrifying reality that he may never get out of Wayward Pines alive.
It was also announced that NEW GIRL – the Emmy-nominated Tuesday night comedy starring Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris and Hannah Simone – and one of our new FOX comedies will air following SUPER BOWL XLVIII Sunday, February 2, 2014 on FOX.
FOX series returning in 2013-2014 include: AMERICAN DAD (Season 9), AMERICAN IDOL (Season 13), BOB’S BURGERS (Season 4), BONES (Season 9), FAMILY GUY (Season 11), THE FOLLOWING (Season 2), GLEE (Season 5), HELL’S KITCHEN (Season 11), HOTEL HELL (Season 2), KITCHEN NIGHTMARES (Season 6), MASTERCHEF (Season 4), THE MINDY PROJECT (Season 2), NEW GIRL (Season 3), RAISING HOPE (Season 4), THE SIMPSONS (Season 25), SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE (Season 10) and THE X FACTOR (Season 3). AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS, NEW YEAR’S EVE LIVE and TEEN CHOICE 2013 will also return to the FOX schedule.

NEW SERIES SYNOPSES
The following new comedies will premiere this fall on FOX:
BROOKLYN NINE-NINE
From Emmy Award-winning writer/producers Dan Goor and Michael Schur (“Parks and Recreation”), and starring Emmy Award winners Andy Samberg (“Saturday Night Live”) and Andre Braugher (“Men of a Certain Age,” “Homicide: Life on the Street”), BROOKLYN NINE-NINE is a new single-camera ensemble comedy about what happens when a talented, but carefree, detective gets a new captain with a lot to prove. Detective JAKE PERALTA (Samberg) is a good enough cop that he’s never had to work that hard or follow the rules too closely. Perhaps because he has the best arrest record among his colleagues, he’s been enabled – if not indulged – throughout his entire career. That is, until the precinct gets a new commanding officer, Captain RAY HOLT (Braugher), who reminds this hotshot cop to respect the badge. Jake may have collared more criminals, but Detective AMY SANTIAGO (Melissa Fumero, “One Life to Live,” “Gossip Girl”) is close behind, and she’s keenly aware of how many arrests she needs to close the gap. Amy grew up with seven brothers who were all cops. She’s the first girl in the family to put on a police uniform, and suffice it to say: she’s extremely competitive…about everything. Also working cases in Brooklyn’s 99th precinct is Sergeant TERRY JEFFORDS (Terry Crews, “Bridesmaids,” “Everybody Hates Chris”), a linebacker of a man who’s lost his nerve, not because he’s a wimp, but because a year ago, his wife had twin baby girls – Cagney and Lacey – and he can’t imagine not seeing them grow up. Detective CHARLES BOYLE (Joe Lo Truglio, “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Superbad”), who idolizes Jake, is the precinct’s workhorse; he’s not that brilliant, he’s not physically gifted, but he tries harder than anyone else. Charles pines for Detective ROSA DIAZ (Stephanie Beatriz, “Modern Family,” “The Closer”), with whom he stands no chance at all. Rosa is simultaneously tough, sexy and scary as hell. She’s vocally opinionated about everything. Cleaning up everyone’s mess is GINA LINETTI (Chelsea Peretti, “Parks and Recreation,” “Kroll Show”), the eccentric, civilian office manager who somehow gets involved in everyone’s business. Together, these tightly knit – or is it tightly wound? – cops interrogate suspects, arrest perps and solve murders. But, ultimately, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE is a workplace comedy that’s not really about the job. It’s about the men and women behind the badge – singing karaoke, grabbing a beer and hitting on each other – all while protecting the fine people of Brooklyn. BROOKLYN NINE-NINE is produced by Universal Television. The series is created and written by Dan Goor (“Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” “Parks and Recreation”) and Michael Schur (“The Office,” “Parks and Recreation”). The series is executive-produced by Goor, Schur and David Miner (“30 Rock”). The pilot was directed by the team of Phil Lord and Chris Miller (“21 Jump Street,” “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”).

DADS
Honor thy father. Way easier said than done. Especially when your dad’s broke, living in your house and ruining your life. From Seth MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, the creatively outrageous minds behind last year’s highest-grossing feature comedy, “Ted,” and FOX’s hit animated series FAMILY GUY, DADS explores the often treacherous terrain of the father-son landscape. This new multi-camera comedy series follows two successful guys – and childhood best friends – now in their mid-30s whose relatively stable lives get turned upside down when their pain-in-the-neck patriarchs move in. ELI (Emmy Award winner Seth Green, FAMILY GUY, “Robot Chicken”) and WARNER (Emmy Award nominee Giovanni Ribisi, “My Name is Earl,” “Ted,” “Avatar”) are the co-founders of a successful video game company. Warner is married with two kids, two dogs and a beautiful home. Despite his success, he’s a bundle of nerves, constantly worrying that his next paycheck will be his last. He and Eli came up with the idea for the company while stoned in college, and Eli has remained stoned ever since. In contrast to Warner’s picture-perfect life, Eli’s is a bit messier, with brief stabs at self-improvement. What he lacks in courage, he also lacks in moral fiber. Although Warner and Eli are at very different places in their lives, they are so close, their friendship is more like a marriage. And that relationship is more complicated now, as their dads invade their lives. Warner’s neuroses likely stem from having grown up in a family whose fortunes fluctuated wildly from year to year, due to the failed get-rich-quick schemes of his father, CRAWFORD (Martin Mull, “Two and a Half Men,” “’Til Death”). A self-described “businessman” (in wine-stained khakis) and a perpetual optimist, Crawford still firmly believes the next big opportunity is just around the corner. Now living with Warner and Warner’s beautiful, hotheaded wife, CAMILA (Vanessa Lachey, “Wipeout,” “True Beauty”), Crawford continues to spend beyond his means, making well-intentioned grand gestures that he can’t afford and that Warner ends up paying for. Eli’s dad, DAVID (Academy Award and Emmy Award nominee Peter Riegert, “The Good Wife,” “The Sopranos”), is a towering monument to negativity. Equal parts cheap and cranky, David relishes disappointment and has always prepared his son for it, who in turn rebels by spending excessive amounts of money. After hitting hard times, David turns to Eli, who blames his dad for his own shortcomings, including his inability to settle down. In fact, his longest relationship with a woman remains the one with his cleaning lady, EDNA (Tonita Castro, “Go On,” “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World”). Trying to help both Warner and Eli through their myriad life challenges is VERONICA (Brenda Song, NEW GIRL, “Scandal”), their witty and surprisingly entitled assistant, who is a force to be reckoned with. The invasion of the DADS will give these friends and business partners their biggest challenge yet. Between dubious schemes, passive-aggressive busy-bodying and light kissing-on-the-lips, will these beleaguered sons be able to hold the line in the face of two massive game-changers? DADS is produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Fuzzy Door Productions. The series is created and written by Emmy Award-nominated writer/producers Alec Sulkin (“Ted,” FAMILY GUY) and Wellesley Wild (“Ted,” FAMILY GUY). Seth MacFarlane (“Ted,” FAMILY GUY), Sulkin and Wild are executive producers. Marc Cendrowski (“The Big Bang Theory”) directed the pilot.

EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS: Seth MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin, Wellesley Wild
DIRECTOR: Mark Cendrowski
CAST: Seth Green as Eli, Giovanni Ribisi as Warner, Martin Mull as Crawford, Peter Riegert as David, Vanessa Lachey as Camila, Brenda Song as Veronica, Tonita Castro as Edna
ENLISTED
Three brothers, one Army, but absolutely no fighting! ENLISTED is an irreverent but heartfelt single-camera comedy about three brothers on a small Florida Army base and the group of misfits who surround them. Charming, funny and a natural-born leader, Sergeant PETE HILL (Geoff Stults, “Ben and Kate,” “The Finder”) was on a path for a huge military career until one mistake overseas got him booted stateside to Fort McGee, the base in Florida where his two younger brothers are stationed. Now, as head of their platoon, Pete must serve both as big brother and military boss. Corporal DERRICK HILL (Chris Lowell, “Private Practice,” “Veronica Mars”) is the middle brother – smart and sarcastic, he likes to stir up trouble and doesn’t really care about being a soldier. Private RANDY HILL (Parker Young, “Suburgatory”), on the other hand, loves it. He’s the hyper-enthusiastic, hyper-goofy – just hyper – youngest brother who wants to be the gung-ho “GI Joe” military ideal. The Hill brothers serve on the Rear Detachment (Rear D) unit, comprised of the soldiers left behind when everyone else is deployed, because they’re not quite good enough to be sent overseas, yet not bad enough to be kicked out of the Army. These are the men and women who mow lawns at the base, sort mail, wash tanks, find lost dogs and maybe engage in a war game or two. But the Rear D’s main job is taking care of deployed soldiers’ families. Whatever they need, the Rear D soldiers do. And, in the event that something happens to a soldier overseas, the Rear D troops break the news to the family and become a supportive shoulder to cry on. It’s a job that shifts each moment from the thrilling to the mundane to the emotional and back again. Fort McGee is run by Command Sergeant Major DONALD CODY (Emmy Award winner Keith David, “Cloud Atlas,” “The Cape”), a firm but fair man who served with the brothers’ late father. Major Cody promised to look out for them, so he brought all the brothers to the base to fulfill that promise. Cody has seen it all and lost a foot to prove it – which no one can forget, probably since he never misses an opportunity to bring it up. Confident, funny, tough and beautiful, Sergeant JILL PEREZ (Angelique Cabral, “Friends with Benefits”) is the same rank as Pete and leads the other Rear D platoon on base. A military-set family comedy, ENLISTED centers on three brothers who, when the best of the best are sent overseas, stay behind to try to keep the base in order. Between hijacking tanks, inventing new drinking games and accidentally blowing up a fuel truck, they will inadvertently discover the key to strengthening their long-lost childhood bonds. ENLISTED is produced by 20th Century Fox Television, and written and created by Kevin Biegel (“Cougar Town,” “Scrubs,” “South Park”). The series is executive-produced by Biegel and Mike Royce (“Men of a Certain Age,” “Everybody Loves Raymond”). The pilot was directed by Phil Traill (“Suburgatory,” RAISING HOPE).

The following new dramas will debut this fall on FOX:
ALMOST HUMAN
From Emmy Award-winning executive producer J.J. Abrams (“Fringe,” “Lost,” the “Star Trek” and “Mission: Impossible” franchises) and creator/executive producer J.H. Wyman (“Fringe,” “The Mexican”), comes ALMOST HUMAN. Starring Karl Urban (“Star Trek”) and Michael Ealy (“Sleeper Cell,” “Common Law”), the new series is an action-packed police drama set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. The year is 2048. Meet JOHN KENNEX (Urban), a cop who survived one of the most catastrophic attacks ever made against the police department. After waking up from a 17-month coma, he can’t remember much – except that his partner was killed; his girlfriend, ANNA MOORE (guest star Mekia Cox, “Crazy, Stupid, Love.,” “Undercovers”), left him after the attack; and he lost one of his legs and is now outfitted with a highly sophisticated synthetic appendage. Suffering from depression, mental atrophy, trauma-onset OCD, PTSD and the “psychological rejection of his synthetic body part,” John returns to work at the behest of longtime ally Captain SANDRA MALDONADO (Emmy Award nominee Lili Taylor, “Six Feet Under,” “Ransom”). By mandate, every cop must partner with a robot. And despite his passionate aversion to androids, John is paired up with a battle-ready MX-43. But he abruptly terminates his partnership after the robot discovers incriminating information about him. So technician RUDY LOM (Mackenzie Crook, “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise) introduces John to DORIAN (Ealy), a discontinued android with unexpected emotional responses. Although such responses were deemed flaws, it is in these “flaws” that John relates to Dorian most. After all, John is part-machine now, and Dorian is part-human. John and Dorian’s understanding of each other not only complements them, it connects them. As he adjusts to working with his new partner, John also must learn to get along with his new colleagues, including the eager and somewhat starstruck Detective VALERIE STAHL (Minka Kelly, “Friday Night Lights,” “(500) Days of Summer”) and the distrustful Detective RICHARD PAUL (Michael Irby, “Law Abiding Citizen,” “The Unit”), who does not welcome John back with open arms. ALMOST HUMAN will follow the week-to-week missions of John and Dorian, as they fight crime across this futuristic landscape, while the mysteries surrounding his attack and the larger mythology of this new world unfold. ALMOST HUMAN is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television. The series is created by J.H. Wyman, who wrote the pilot. The series is executive-produced by J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk and Wyman. Kathy Lingg (“Person of Interest,” “Revolution,” “Fringe”) and Reid Shane (“Fringe”) are co-executive producers. Brad Anderson (“Fringe,” “The Killing”) directed and served as co-executive producer on the pilot.

SLEEPY HOLLOW
What if you suddenly woke up from the throes of death 250 years in the future to find the world is on the brink of destruction, caused by unimaginable events, and you are humanity’s last hope? Welcome to SLEEPY HOLLOW, the thrilling new mystery-adventure drama from co-creators/executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (“Star Trek” and “Transformers” franchises, “Fringe”). In this modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic, ICHABOD CRANE (Tom Mison, “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen”) is resurrected and pulled two and a half centuries through time to unravel a mystery that dates all the way back to the founding fathers. Revived alongside Ichabod is the infamous Headless Horseman who is on a murderous rampage in present-day Sleepy Hollow. Bound to the Headless Horseman by a blood spell cast on the battlefield of the American Revolution, Ichabod quickly realizes that stopping Headless is just the beginning, as the resurrected rider is but the first of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. As this re-invented Ichabod finds himself in present-day Sleepy Hollow, he discovers a town and a world he no longer recognizes. All that is brutally familiar are Headless and Ichabod’s determination to annihilate this immortal being. It’s a mission he must complete quickly, as Headless already has viciously slain Sheriff AUGUST CORBIN (guest star Clancy Brown, “Cowboys & Aliens,” “Carnivale”). Grey served both as mentor and father figure to Detective ABBIE MILLS (Nicole Beharie, “Shame,” “American Violet”), a young cop whose own supernatural experiences help her form an unlikely bond with Ichabod. But Sleepy Hollow’s head of police, Captain FRANK IRVING (Orlando Jones, “The Chicago 8,” “Drumline”), isn’t buying any of this. In fact, the only person who is on Abbie’s side is Ichabod. His extensive first-hand knowledge of our secret American history, coupled with her superior profiling and modern threat assessment skills, will make them a formidable duo as they work together to triumph over evil. The complex pasts of Ichabod and Abbie, from Ichabod’s inclusion in the powerful and secretive Freemasons Society and the ghostly appearance of his late wife, KATRINA (Katia Winter, “Dexter”), to Abbie’s childhood visions, will help them solve the intricate puzzles of Sleepy Hollow in order to protect its future. As history repeats itself, the oddly-linked pair will draw on the real stories and hallowed secrets this nation was founded on in their quest to stop an increasingly vicious cycle of evil. SLEEPY HOLLOW is from K/O Paper Products in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The series is co-created by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Phillip Iscove and Len Wiseman (“Hawaii Five-0,” “Underworld” and “Total Recall”). The series is executive-produced by Kurtzman, Orci, Wiseman and Heather Kadin. Iscove serves as supervising producer. Wiseman directed the pilot.

The new dramas slated for midseason are:
GANG RELATED
Only people who really know the streets can win the battle on the streets. In the gritty new action-drama GANG RELATED, Detective RYAN LOPEZ (Ramon Rodriguez, “Battle Los Angeles,” “The Wire”) is a rising star in Los Angeles’ elite Gang Task Force. What the world doesn’t know is that long before Ryan was a cop, he pledged allegiance to a different band of brothers – a powerful Latino gang called Los Angelicos. When Ryan’s best friend and partner is senselessly killed by a notorious gang member, Ryan teams up with longtime Task Force member CASSIUS GREEN (RZA, “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” “Californication”), who has been at the forefront of the city’s war on organized crime. In this war between law enforcement and gangs, the series explores how every villain has a noble cause, and every hero has a dark side. Despite his profession, Ryan is still beholden to the gang’s leader, JAVIER ACOSTA (Cliff Curtis, “Live Free or Die Hard,” “Training Day”), the father figure Ryan has tried to make proud his entire life and the man who masterminded his entry into the police force. It’s a secret that has been held for a decade by Ryan, Javier and Javier’s sons: cold-blooded gang lieutenant CARLOS (guest star Rey Gallegos, “Sons of Anarchy,” “24”); and Ryan’s childhood best friend, straight-laced investment banker DANIEL (Jay Hernandez, “Last Resort,” “Hostel”). But Ryan is even more dedicated to being a cop. He is respected by his team, including TAE KIM (Sung Kang, “Fast Five,” “Live Free or Die Hard”), VANESSA “VEE” HAREL (Inbar Lavi, “Underemployed,” “Street Kings 2: Motor City”) and Task Force leader SAM CHAPEL (Terry O’Quinn, “Lost”), Ryan’s other surrogate father figure, whose estranged daughter, JESSICA SHAW (Shantel VanSanten, “One Tree Hill,” “The Final Destination”), is the city’s Assistant District Attorney. Ryan’s education comes from the streets. And that schooling will work to his advantage, as he, Cassius and the rest of the task force take aim at the city’s most dangerous gangs, while his increasing sense of loyalty to his task force family helps him determine which side of the law he is really on. GANG RELATED is from Chris Morgan Productions, Skeeter Rosenbaum Productions, Imagine Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Television. RAKE
RAKE, a character-driven drama based on the Australian nominee for Best Television Drama series of the same name, follows the comedic and chaotic life of criminal defense lawyer KEEGAN DEANE (Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Greg Kinnear, “Little Miss Sunshine,” “The Kennedys”). On a single day, Keegan Deane is described as many things. His ex-wife-calls him “unreliable”; his son calls him a “pal”; most judges think he’s “an outrage”; the IRS calls him a “defendant”; and to his former dealer, he’s simply a “tragic loss.” Brilliant, frustratingly charming and with zero filter, Keegan is one of life’s great addicts. His staggering lack of discretion and inability to self-censor land him the cases that nobody else will touch, but behind that lies a resolute optimism and belief in justice that fuel his dogged determination to defend those who seem beyond redemption. He always tries to do the right thing, but at the same time struggles to save himself from the many self-destructive elements that plague his own life, such as his overindulgence of various excesses, including women and gambling. Keegan gets a majority of his cases from BEN (John Ortiz, “Silver Linings Playbook,” “Luck”), his best friend since law school. Ben is married to SCARLET (Necar Zadegan, “Emily Owens, M.D.,” “The Event”), another of Keegan’s old friends and, as Assistant District Attorney for the city of Los Angeles, quite often his opponent in court. In addition to Keegan’s cases within the justice system, the series follows his personal trials and tribulations, including his mounting debt to his bookie and his overlapping liaisons with various women, including MELISSA “MIKKI” PARTRIDGE (Bojana Novakovic, “Edge of Darkness,” “Drag Me To Hell”), Keegan’s favorite prostitute and de-facto love interest. Also among his predicaments is his ongoing battle with the IRS. But always there to help Keegan clean up his mess is LEANNE ZANDER (Tara Summers, “Ringer,” “Damages”), his extremely put-upon, no-nonsense assistant. Meanwhile, Keegan’s ex-wife, MADDY (Miranda Otto, “The Starter Wife,” “War of the Worlds”), a psychologist by profession, begrudgingly acts as his therapist. She also is the mother of their hormonal son, FINN (Ian Colletti, “Phoebe In Wonderland”), who displays many of the same proclivities as his father. Each morning, Keegan tends to wake up bruised – physically, emotionally, spiritually. Usually it’s a combination of them all. Then it’s out into the world – onto the battleground of Keegan’s day. RAKE is produced by Fedora Entertainment and Essential Media & Entertainment Pty Ltd., in association with Sony Pictures Television. The series is created and written by Peter Duncan (creator of the original Australian series). The series is executive-produced by Duncan, Peter Tolan (“Rescue Me,” “Analyze This”), Michael Wimer (“2012”), Richard Roxburgh (“Rake,” “Mission: Impossible II,” “Moulin Rouge”) and Ian Collie (“Rake”). Kinnear and Leslie Tolan (“Rescue Me,” “The Job”) are co-executive producers. Sam Raimi (“Oz the Great and Powerful,” “Spider-Man” franchise) directed and served as an executive producer on the pilot.

The new comedies set for midseason are:
MURDER POLICE
MURDER POLICE is a new animated comedy series that expands the boundaries of the cop show genre as only animation can. From David A. Goodman (FAMILY GUY) and rising writer/animator/performer Jason Ruiz, the series follows a dedicated, but inept detective and his colleagues – some perverted, some corrupt, some just plain lazy – in a twisted city precinct. At the center of this maelstrom is MANUEL SANCHEZ (Ruiz), a neurotic and nerdy cop who aspires to be a good policeman, but his efforts to solve crimes are constantly put in jeopardy by his own clumsiness and the incompetence of his fellow detectives. Making matters worse, his egotistical, bribe-accepting partner, TOMMY MARGARETTI (Will Sasso, “The Three Stooges,” “MADtv”), a tough, rule-breaking “bad cop,” can’t interrogate a suspect without beating him up. The other detectives in the precinct include RANDALL HICKOX (Chi McBride, “Golden Boy”), a cop with little interest in police work. He’s lost a lot of partners, hates his job and often hands off his resume to crime scene witnesses. Randall’s newest partner, JUSTICE (Jane Lynch, GLEE), is a self-righteous working mother whose child is lodged in a baby bjorn that is permanently secured around her chest. Undercover cop DONEL (Phil LaMarr, FAMILY GUY, “Futurama”) is in so deep that he often does things of questionable legality. They all are supervised by the perpetually annoyed Captain JOHN RUSHOUR (Peter Atencio, “Key and Peele”), a brusque, overweight old-school cop who expects failure and can’t be bothered to even get out of his Rascal scooter. Manuel’s ex-wife, ROSA (Justina Machado, “Private Practice,” “Six Feet Under”), is a defense lawyer who remains irritated that Manuel always put his job first. But they remain bonded in the upbringing of their son, MARIO (Ruiz), a troubled teen who is less impressed with his father than he is by the criminals he catches. These cops often find themselves mildly interested in the most recent crime victim, but completely obsessed with who “destroyed” the bathroom. Nevertheless, where there’s a mystery, Manuel somehow finds a way to solve it. MURDER POLICE is produced by Bento Box Animation (BOB’S BURGERS) and 20th Century Fox Television. The series is co-created by David A. Goodman (FAMILY GUY) and Jason Ruiz – one of the writers/animators discovered through the Fox Inkubation program. Goodman serves as executive producer and showrunner, and Ruiz is co-executive producer.

SURVIVING JACK
Father knows best…well, sort of. SURVIVING JACK is a new single-camera comedy based on best-selling author Justin Halpern’s autobiographical book, “I Suck at Girls.” Set in 1990s Southern California, the ensemble series is about a man becoming a dad, as his son is becoming a man, in a time before “coming of age” was something you could Google.JACK DUNLEVY (Emmy Award nominee Christopher Meloni, “True Blood,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”), ex-military and an oncologist, is a no-bull kind of guy. He sees little, if any, need to sugar-coat the truth. Up to this point, Jack’s been the parent who’s left for work early, come home late, eaten the big piece of chicken, yelled at his kids and gone to bed. But after years of deftly raising and running the family, his wife, JOANNE, is going back to law school, leaving Jack as a full-time parent for the very first time. Jack’s teenage son, FRANKIE (Connor Buckley, “Deception”), is just starting his freshman year in high school. Lanky, quick-witted, self-deprecating and not entirely sure of himself, all Frankie wants to do is fly under the radar. But over the summer, he grew 10 inches, threw a no-hitter against a rival team and started to attract girls – all of which put him in some awkward situations – especially when the only base he’s ever been to is on the field. Fortunately, no matter how embarrassing the situations Frankie gets himself into are, Jack is there to pick up the pieces and lead his son to manhood…with the least gentle hand possible. Although Jack may be unorthodox, unfiltered and sometimes even unkind in his approach, his intentions are always good. For better or for worse, he’s Frankie’s only resource now. Even more confusing to Jack than Frankie’s growing pains are those of his daughter, RACHEL (Claudia Lee, “Hart of Dixie”), a gorgeous and super-smart 17-year-old high school junior. Up until now, Rachel’s done everything right. No longer under the watchful eye of her mother, she’s now a handful. Jack considers the mind of the teenage girl beyond his (or anyone’s) comprehension – a fact which Rachel will take full advantage of. In addition to disciplining his own children, Jack must keep a watchful eye on Frankie’s best friends: GEORGE (Kevin Hernandez, “Get the Gringo,” “The Sitter”), an overly confident Mexican-American with a big vocabulary; and MIKEY (newcomer Tyler Foden), a tough kid from a broken home. Only time will tell if Jack’s blunt and unpredictable parenting style will keep his kids out of trouble, or if Joanne will have to put down the law books and somehow step in to keep the family order. Until then, Jack’s the dad the Dunlevy kids always wished they had – most of the time. For someone who is used to taking care of people with cancer, Jack’s got this…right? SURVIVING JACK is produced by Doozer in association with Warner Bros. Television. Based on best-selling author Justin Halpern’s book, “I Suck at Girls,” the series is written by Halpern (“$#*! My Dad Says”) and Patrick Schumacker (“$#*! My Dad Says”). The series is executive-produced by Emmy Award nominee Bill Lawrence (“Spin City,” “Scrubs,” “Clone High,” “Cougar Town”), Halpern, Schumacker and Jeff Ingold. Victor Nelli (“Scrubs,” “The Bernie Mac Show”) directed the pilot.

US & THEM
When two people finally come together, they never come together alone. US & THEM is an outrageous but authentic ensemble single-camera comedy about a pair of young lovers, whose path to happily-ever-after is complicated by the screwed-up circus of people closest to them. New York pharmaceutical copywriter GAVIN (Emmy Award nominee Jason Ritter, “Parenthood,” “The Event”) is a neurotic Woody Allen-ish personality with indie-rock looks, who has never been in love. On the other hand, pretty Pennsylvania-based printing press employee STACEY (Alexis Bledel, “Mad Men,” “Gilmore Girls”) has a subtle wit and has been engaged before. For the past six months, they have been flirting online and finally agree to meet…with their best friends in tow for double-date safety. Gavin and Stacey’s wingmen are, respectively, CHRIS “ARCHIE” ARCHULETTA (Dustin Ybarra, “We Bought a Zoo”) and NESSA (Ashlie Atkinson, “Inside Man,” “Rescue Me”). Archie is often wrong but never in doubt and the loudest, most outrageous character in any room. Nessa is brutally blunt – actually, just brutal, in general – with a rock-a-billy look, complete with messy tattoos (many of which she doesn’t remember getting). Gavin lives in an apartment below his parents, PAM (Emmy Award nominee Jane Kaczmarek, “Whitney,” “Raising the Bar,” “Malcolm in the Middle”) and MICHAEL (Kurt Fuller, “Psych,” “Midnight in Paris”). With zero filter and little volume control, Pam is fearful she is aging and that the good times may be behind her. Michael thinks of himself as the family’s voice of reason. He is wrong. Dillsburg, PA, is a tiny dot of grit in the green countryside. Stacey lives there with her widowed mom, GWEN (Kerri Kenney, “Reno 911!”). BRIAN (guest star Michael Ian Black, “Ed”), Stacey’s uncle, and her late father’s brother, has taken on the role of family protector. He is a simple man who is amazed by the little things in life…like white Toblerones. Stacey’s long-distance romance unnerves both Gwen and Brian, who fear she might fall in love and move away to the big city. When all of these characters collide to create a salty but sweet romantic comedy, we wonder not if the two leads will get together, but how they ever will stay together. After all, it’s complicated enough trying to make a relationship work. But the biggest complications of all are the friends and family who are part of the package deal. US & THEM is produced by Sony Pictures Television and BBC Worldwide Productions. It is based on the hugely popular and multiple-award-winning BBC series “Gavin and Stacey,” which was created and written by James Corden and Ruth Jones. US & THEM is adapted and written by David J. Rosen (“I Just Want My Pants Back”), and executive-produced by Rosen, Jane Tranter, Julie Gardner, Corden and Jones. Steve Coogan and Henry Normal serve as executive producers for Baby Cow Productions. Michael Patrick Jann (“Drop Dead Gorgeous”) directed the pilot.

WAYWARD PINES
Imagine the perfect American town... beautiful homes, manicured lawns, children playing safely in the streets. Now imagine never being able to leave. You have no communication with the outside world. You think you’re going insane. You must be in Wayward Pines. Based on the best-selling novel “Pines” by Blake Crouch and brought to life by suspenseful storyteller M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense,” “Signs”), WAYWARD PINES is the intense new mind-bending event thriller evocative of the classic cult hit “Twin Peaks.” Secret Service Agent ETHAN BURKE (Academy Award nominee Matt Dillon, “Crash,” “City of Ghosts”) drives to the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID, to find two missing federal agents. Ethan was the logical choice for the mission. He’s one of the best Secret Service agents in the Seattle office. He’s also the man who knew missing agent KATE HEWSON better than anyone. They were partners. They were more than that. Their relationship nearly destroyed Ethan’s marriage. Kate transferred to Boise and Ethan thought he’d never see her again. Now, Kate and her new Secret Service partner, BILL EVANS, are nowhere to be found. But just as Ethan spots the sign that says “Welcome to Wayward Pines, Where Paradise is Home!,” a truck slams into his car. When Ethan wakes up in the Wayward Pines Hospital, he remembers his name, his address in Seattle and the accident on the outskirts of town. He knows he’s a Secret Service Agent who came to Wayward Pines to investigate the disappearance of two agents. What he can’t figure out is what’s wrong with this eerily perfect little town. None of the phones work. He can’t get through to his wife back home or his
boss at the Secret Service. His wallet, ID, money, phone…everything is gone. And no one will help him. Back home in Seattle, Ethan’s wife, THERESA, gets a call from Ethan’s boss at the Secret Service, ADAM HASSLER. Ethan is missing. No other information is available until early testing shows that Ethan was never in his car that was recovered on the side of the road outside of Wayward Pines. They’re still investigating. This isn’t enough for Theresa. Along with their teenage son, BEN, Theresa sets out on her own search for Ethan. The mystery only deepens as Ethan employs his intelligence and tireless determination to solve the mystery of this unsettling town. Challenged at every turn by the town’s die-hard residents, Ethan’s investigation only turns up more questions, the most important of which is: What’s wrong with Wayward Pines? WAYWARD PINES is a production of FX Productions. The series is created and written by Chad Hodge (“The Playboy Club,” “Runaway”) and executive-produced by Shyamalan, Hodge, Donald De Line (“Green Lantern,” “The Italian Job”) and Ashwin Rajan (“After Earth”).

irehtman 05-13-2013, 10:41 AM Dads might be the first fallen victim of FOX. Both Raising Hope and Enlisted will fall victim by May 2014. But it looks like Brooklyn Nine-Nine will last for two seasons, the second season of that show will be moved to Friday Nights, by then, IMO.
tlc38tlc38 05-13-2013, 12:00 PM Really looking forward to "Sleepy Hollow" and "Wayward Pines".
"Dads" and "Surviving Jack" sound like they could be good but I don't want to get my hopes up too high.
icecream 05-13-2013, 01:51 PM FOX surprisingly has a lot of shows I'm interested in. Whether they actually turn out to be good is another story. All 5 of the scripted fall shows plus the Alexis Bledel comedy and Surviving Jack. Plus I'll still watch Raising Hope.
irehtman 05-13-2013, 02:45 PM I hope they add a sixth member, which is a female character in a Jess and Cece type, in New Girl's Season 3 cast lineup! Otherwise, this show will completely go downhill, automatically!

This is a completely random suggestion. Care to elaborate why?
Anyway, overall this looks like a fairly weak schedule to me. Sticking with the bloated, dying singing shows for 3 hours a week is going to prove to be a suicidal move.. But I love that New Girl gets the post-Superbowl slot!
yankeesrj12 05-13-2013, 04:13 PM FOX, that is a HORRIBLE schedule. With the dying singing series', they needed to think outside the box and make some bold moves. They played it safe and because of those decisions, their ratings are only going to continue to fall.
tbswatcher 05-13-2013, 04:13 PM What are they trying to do to Raising Hope? Kill It? That is my favorite FOX show and they can't even put it on the schedule in September! Why air encores of Sleepy Hollow?
At least The Simpsons and Family Guy weren't moved.
EmoJoe 05-13-2013, 04:23 PM Raising Hope to Fridays seems like a death warrant at first, but on second thought I think FOX might actually be trying to make it work. I mean, they apparently think it's going to do well enough to launch one of their higher-profile pilots behind it, so I don't think they're writing it off just yet.
There's also the possibility that they're simply using it as a placeholder in case something else on the schedule dies fast.

Mr. Television 05-13-2013, 06:09 PM The only 2 shows I watch on Fox was just sent to the Friday Deathslot ...Bones & Raising Hope. I doubt any of the new shows will click. Some sound interesting but I'm not getting involved with them until I know they'll stick around. I've been burned too many times by Fox.
robyrob 05-13-2013, 06:46 PM FOX has some stuff I will check out - Sleepy Hollow and Us & Them
i will of course still be watching: Bones, New Girl, Raising Hope, The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad!, and The Cleveland Show
for anyone who is unfamiliar with it, "Us & Them" is a remake of the British Show "Gavin & Stacey" - it is a hilarious show, but what makes it work is the great actors, characters and dialog; it is good to see that James Corden & Ruth Jones will be involved with the show, but I couldn't possibly imagine Gavin & Stacey without Smithy and Nessa, and Uncle Bryn is one of my favorites - even though i still don't understand what happened to him on that boat.
Pavan 05-13-2013, 06:54 PM Last Man Standing did good on Fridays. It could work, especially following Bones.

i was actually quite surprised to discover that Us & Them is actually the THIRD American version of a pilot for Gavin & Stacey, NBC and ABC each tried to do a remake of it as well.

I remember that a couple of years back. I was excited something new besides 48 Hours was scheduled on a Saturday night until How to be a Gentleman was canceled and replaced with Rules.
Wow...that show was whack!
benjamoon 05-13-2013, 08:47 PM FOX has some real promising new shows but I don't like this schedule at all. There's a real lack of flow on most nights of the week: too many revolving dramas on Mondays, different appeal comedies on Tuesdays, way too much prime real estate given to X Factor/Idol, etc. It's weak and seems messy.
qixpoet 05-14-2013, 11:24 AM I saw FOX cancelled Cleveland.
I really enjoyed the FOX cartoon.
Maybe, Cleveland could come back again like Family Guy did few years ago.
24 seems interesting enough.
I was hoping for 24 episodes. LOL
I am a big 24 fan.
I wondered how they will work 24 this time around.
In the last 24 episode of season 8, Jack Bauer became a fugitive.

EmoJoe 05-15-2013, 12:58 AM HERE ARE MY SLIGHTLY DELAYED THOUGHTS
Monday - This is risky. Two new shows back-to-back? And they're high-concept genre shows, which have a mixed at best history on Fox? Still, I applaud them for trying something new, and at least they have some options if one of them tanks, Mob Doctor-style.
Tuesday - I'm a little weary of them returning to a four-comedy block after it crashed so spectularly in the fall, but I applaud them for being so persisent in their comedy pursuit, and I think Dads and Brooklyn Nine-Nine might be better attention drawers than Raising Hope and the gone-too-soon Ben & Kate last year. The only issue is that they're going to be facing off of ABC's SHIELD, which seems like it might draw the same kind of audience if it's a hit. I hope this works out for them, because FOX has been a strong player in the comedy field the past few years. Having said that, Dads looks awful. Seth MacFarlane's humor in a multi-camera sitcom is not something I ever wanted to see.
Wednesday - Sticking with three hours of the singing shows a week is a suicidal move, if you ask me. I have a feeling The X Factor is going to totally collapse this year, and Fox is going to be in deep **** when that happens. I really don't see why they couldn't have shrunk it down to an hour, or even just 90 minutes and put a comedy at 9:30! They certainly have enough of them. This move makes no sense to me. There are some bold aspects to Fox's fall schedule but this has the potential to ruin the entire thing.
Thursday - I don't really love the continued pursuit of singing shows followed by Glee either, but at the same time, Glee has been doing okay enough in the slot that I don't hate it as much as Wednesdays, and there's not too many other options for it. At least they have Rake shaking things up at mid-season for a bit.
Friday - I'm not entirely convinced Bones is actually going to be airing here come November, but I hope it is for the comedy block's sake, because I don't see it standing much of a chance without it. If Bones stays here, this could actually be a fairly okay night, for a Friday. I could see Raising Hope being an adequate Friday performer with a decent lead-in.
Sunday - After many years, Fox has finally found an animation domination line-up that works the entire way through. Something's going to have to give when Murder Police joins mid-season (my guess is American Dad gets pushed to 7:30), but overall this is a rock solid night.
All in all, there's some interesting moves here, most notably their push for cable-esque year-round programming and shorter seasons. Fox has always been the network that seems to be most aware of the changing industry so it doesn't surprise me to see them taking some initative there. On the other hand, you also have them clinging to their bloated, dying singing shows when they could easily trim them just a little and have more time for scripted content rather than squeezing shows in and out of other nights. Ultimately, Fox's refusal to do anything about that is going to hurt them in a big way, and NBC and ABC taking some big initiatives on their weak spots next year makes Fox's refusal to admit theirs even more embarrasing. I see some things working out here, but ultimately I think they're going to be hurt by their refusal to drop some of their old habits.

I'll stick with Sunday night but I want to see Almost Human.
liane49 05-31-2013, 11:52 AM The only show I really like on Fox is Raising Hope. I might watch some of the new stuff.

James28 07-21-2013, 11:01 AM It has been announced on 16 June that the animated sitcom American Dad! will be moving to TBS for the 2014-15 season with 15 new episodes.
I would have liked for that to be the last season of AD! instead. Personally, I think a move to a cable network is bull****.
EmoJoe 07-22-2013, 12:38 AM Why do you care? Just don't watch it if you don't like it.
James28 07-26-2013, 01:49 PM I never said that I didn't like the show. Fox should have easily wrapped up the show's run instead (and the voice cast can move on to other projects), it didn't have to move to a cable network.
Pavan 07-26-2013, 04:30 PM It's not just about the voice cast... what about the hard working crew? They would be affected more if it were canceled totally. American Dad! is not doing poorly either. It does decent in the ratings and it should be commended that it will continue. Why does it make a difference where it airs?
James28 07-26-2013, 04:35 PM What about having enough episodes for a syndication package to keep running in syndication for many years?
Ratings for AD probably declined over the years. Are there several reasons behind this unlikely move?
Pavan 07-26-2013, 08:07 PM Syndication is not why. It has been in syndication for sometime now and it has over 150 episodes...
Fox probably wants to try other things. They (20th TV) still own the show...
James28 07-27-2013, 03:27 PM "AD" moving to a cable network for new episodes just proves how evil animated sliding timescale shows are. I would have like for its run to wrap up and be gone from new episodes instead and the cast and crew to move on to other projects.
EmoJoe 07-28-2013, 01:26 AM Again, why do you care? I'm sure the cast and crew are happy that they have steady work and would rather not see the show end and have to go searching for another show. The show is still creatively and commercially strong. There's no reason it needs to end. As Pav said, it's probably only moving because FOX's animation line-up is getting overcrowded and they want to make room for new hits. But the show still does too well for them to cancel it.
You have a strange aversion for animated shows. I can't imagine they're affecting your life all that much that you need to be begging for them to end the way you are.
James28 07-28-2013, 02:25 AM ^^That's why I gravitate towards live-action scripted TV nowadays.
EmoJoe 07-28-2013, 03:40 PM Good! There's nothing wrong with that! It doesn't mean every animated show should be cancelled just because you don't like it, though.

It would be great to see new hits that don't have families.
icecream 09-03-2013, 11:44 PM FOX will no longer be programming Saturdays at midnight, that half hour is given back to the affiliates. They will still air the 11PM hour with more animated crap.
mr awesome 10-01-2013, 09:21 PM They should move Brooklyn Nine-Nine to after New Girl until the Super Bowl. Us and Them seems like a natural fit for post-New Girl and that should air at 9:30. Actually maybe New Girl would do better at 8 against the more male-skewing competition on abc and cbs.
Mindy's crashing and burning and should be moved out of the post-NG slot.
irehtman 10-03-2013, 07:48 AM Dads should fall victim this season, but afterwards it is going to be both Raising Hope and Enlisted by the end of this season.

irehtman 10-07-2013, 05:16 PM Mindy needs two more men doctor characters to get added immediately in order to keep that show very strong! James28 10-23-2013, 09:44 PM So, with Murder Police being dumped by the network before its airing, a hole being left with American Dad moving to TBS, and FOX being too reluctant to create/build/push completely new animated series, "Animation Domination" will be left with just three-half hours instead of four (with The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, and Family Guy) next season.

I'd like to see a lineup of The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, Family Guy, and Dads. I think it could work quite nicely.
James28 10-24-2013, 03:28 PM If I were to keep just two animated series on the FOX schedule next season (if I'm not gonna even bother pushing new animated series), then I would just keep Bob's Burgers and Family Guy and give The Simpsons the proper send-off that it deserves. king of comedy 10-24-2013, 06:48 PM I'm sure they'll find another animated series. There are so many talented animators out there and lets' hope and pray that the next one won't involve a family. I actually predicted it would be a mild success. Americans typically watch what critics hate and flee what they like (or at least in some extreme cases).
The ratings arent great but I'm glad FOX is giving it time to possibly grow. People complain that networks don't give shows enough time (especially FOX) so this is a nice change.

Yeah, especially due to the potential for a floating timeline.
Also, there's no word on the new midseason series titled "Gang Related". What, are they gonna drop that before it airs, too?
EmoJoe 10-27-2013, 03:11 AM Shows that are as critically reviled as Dads rarely become big hits, but Seth MacFarlane is a powerful name and the ratings haven't been totally disastrous so I'm not too surprised at the back 9 order. It's doing better than Ben and Kate, and that got a full season. I really doubt it will get a second season though.

The Simpsons and Bob's Burgers have already been renewed for the 2014 - 2015 season. Weirdly enough, Family Guy hasn't been yet, but I'm sure it will be. I have to wonder if they're planning on slotting some live-action shows into their Sunday line-up though because as of now they only have 3 even including Family Guy and I haven't heard about any new shows in development since Murder Police was canned.
irehtman 10-27-2013, 06:41 AM I understand Dads got a full season order, but Brooklyn Nine-Nine will do way better than Dads.
king of comedy 10-27-2013, 09:05 AM How about animated sitcom starring a WOMAN for a change? If live action can do it, why can't they do the same for adult animated sitcoms? Also, I want to see another smart male lead. Bob from Bobs' Burgers is the only smart dad in the line up.

FOX always has the four animated series in its Animation Domination HD lineup they could plug in on Sundays. Sure they are fifteen minutes, but if FOX likes what they see in one, they could expand it to thirty minutes, or air two of the shows in the lineup.
mtlguy 10-27-2013, 01:56 PM Yeah, especially due to the potential for a floating timeline.

That's an option, but I can't see those shows working in primetime. They're definitely tailored towards the Adult Swim crowd. I've been wondering if they're going that route though, with the lack of pick ups for new cartoons.
James28 10-28-2013, 04:11 PM Though its ratings are still quite good. Season 26 of "The Simpsons" (2014-15) needs to be the program's last, for real. Fans may want it to go on forever, but all scripted TV shows' original runs have to end eventually. Let the series go out on top with a proper send-off even it it's still making money for your company.
The gap between it and next-longest-running current scripted series could potentially get larger than it already is. After it's gone as a first-run series permanently, there's always reruns of "The Simpsons" continuing in syndication (with its already-extensive episode count), as well as DVD sales. The show's cast and crew can move on to other projects. Plus, Fox would have a better chance of creating and building brand-new animated series (one of them may wind up taking "The Simpsons"'s current timeslot).
EmoJoe 10-28-2013, 09:43 PM As a Simpsons fan, I would much rather see the show end and get a cable syndication deal (where we could potentially see the classic/worthwhile episodes on TV more often) than continue any longer.

James28 11-08-2013, 11:11 PM Deadline.com reported that FOX just greenlit a new animated comedy series from Seth MacFarlane for next season (2014-15) titled "Bordertown". The order is for 13 episodes. Here is the premise.
Set in a fictitious desert town near the U.S.- Mexico border, the series centers on the intertwining daily lives of two neighbors: Bud Buckwald and Ernesto Gonzales. Married and a father of three, Bud is a Border Patrol agent who feels threatened by the cultural changes that have transformed his neighborhood. Living next door to Bud is Ernesto, an industrious Mexican immigrant and father of four, who is proud to be making it in America. As Bud and Ernesto’s paths begin to cross, their families become bound by friendship, romance, and conflict.

icecream 11-24-2013, 05:37 PM Almost Human is really boring, I stopped watching after the first 20 minutes.
James28 12-02-2013, 02:03 AM Ratings for Season 4 of Raising Hope are terrible (with just an 0.7 demo rating and 2 million viewers), almost at a level where it is certain to be easily cancelled. If it was me, I'd just move it to a cable network, probably TBS (with American Dad!).
irehtman 12-02-2013, 02:21 PM There are shows that need some independences, but sometimes also dependencies.
I know independencies would prevent bad attractions from getting involved with good attractions, but dependencies would help control our focus.
James28 12-17-2013, 06:19 PM Simon Cowell recently said that FOX's The X-Factor will return next season. X-Factor is currently in its third year and its ratings are terrible. Cowell also said that he may have a different role in the show next season, suggesting that he may not return as a judge. If FOX is going to renew X-Factor for the 2014-15 season, then they'll probably air it only once per week, like So You Think You Can Dance or Dancing with the Stars. Otherwise, I'd sacrifice X-Factor to save The Mindy Project and Raising Hope, which are probably dooming themselves to cancellation. It is a cutthroat business, after all.
American Idol is having a trimmed season starting next month (with its results show cut to 30 minutes); is it even possible that AI will get reduced to airing only once per week?
icecream 12-17-2013, 07:16 PM At this point it's just what Simon claims, no official word from FOX. X-Factor wasn't renewed in November like the previous two years.

We understand that The Mindy Project is focus more on Mindy's guys than the supporting cast, but there is another problem, the show is forced ordered to broaden more on independencies and that will cause too much imbalancing and lost- focusing at the same time. They need to lower down the broadened independencies and insert some dependencies, so we can focus correctly and balanced this show properly.
The Peter and Beverly are the important characters that need companies at their own level. Betsy needs more interaction and Jeremy needs to be more straightforward. The Mindy Project needs to fix them up before its gets too late!
James28 12-28-2013, 04:18 AM How about I move the Mindy Project to TBS for its third season?
irehtman 12-28-2013, 09:49 AM How about I move the Mindy Project to TBS for its third season?
We'll find out at first, by the end of next month, and then, by the end of April 2014. So please hang on, we need to decrease independencies and increase dependencies for the show will be more balanced and survive much longer.

In the broadcast television business, lower-rated shows get cancelled to free up space for pilots that are picked up to series for next season.

It will increase the ratings by reducing both the independencies and the imbalances and build up on both some dependencies and some balances. We will have corrected focusings on this show in order to survive longer. This is the last time that I will repeat this to you.

One last thing, probably the only way to increase Mindy Project's viewership is that Brooklyn Nine Nine and New Girl, which precede MP on Tuesdays, have a significant boost in ratings following their post-Super Bowl episodes.

James28 01-16-2014, 07:29 PM Is FOX Network and Animation Domination really screwed if and when it's announced that The Simpsons will be concluding its original run? In all seriousness, will The Simpsons being gone from new episodes for good really make much of a difference? I heard that there was a goal to put the animated series at 30 seasons, but I don't feel like it's worth it, and I'd rather give The Simpsons a proper send-off and launch a brand-new replacement show sooner rather than later (I know it takes time to launch new shows). In the TV business, we focus on younger shows, and try to establish new hits.
Every major move has its pros and cons.

Great news.
James28 02-02-2014, 02:54 AM What would happen if the new Bordertown flops next season and ends up canceled like Allen Gregory and Napoleon Dynamite a few years ago?
king of comedy 02-02-2014, 07:39 AM I'll give it a chance. Unlike Seths' other shows, it looks more like an ensemble show and that is refreshing.
James28 02-04-2014, 06:48 PM FOX has just put in development Queen of Everything, a half-hour animated comedy to be developed by Zooey Deschanel and Sophia Rossi via their Miss Hawkins banner for 20th Century Fox TV. The new series is set in a workplace comedy set in a modern fairytale world and centers on an evil queen who comes into power and realizes that running a Queendom isn’t easy when you have no people skills and everyone hates you. With the help of her staff, she’ll try to change her ways.
FOX needs completely new animated shows, and they sure do need more pickups. I think if this one gets a series order, it would end up being a viable replacement for The Simpsons. Resurrecting King of the Hill as an active first-run series is not the answer, though.
king of comedy 02-05-2014, 07:57 AM This sounds great and it looks differant and original. It's a work place sitcom, the lead is a FEMALE, and the best part is it isn't a family show. Finally, I think Fox is waking up and has stop doing the family sitcom and there are other sitcom genres to do.
king of comedy 02-05-2014, 09:32 AM Why bring back King of the Hill? It had a great run and the actress who voiced Luanne is dead. I prefered it come back as a movie to tie loose ends.

:woohoo:
James28 02-08-2014, 05:56 AM The cancellation of the U.S. version of The X-Factor by the FOX-BC could leave some room for some brand-new shows to debut on the network next season, including Hieroglyph. FOX is probably ramping up scripted development in anticipation of a possible getting-rid-of The X-Factor, which takes up three hours a week of the network's primetime schedule.
mr awesome 02-12-2014, 10:53 AM Fox has so many limited series in the pipeline, they shouldn't have much trouble filling up the space. It will also be interesting to see how the reality competition Utopia fits in, since I believe it's a year-round format. Maybe Fridays, or a higher profile night.
James28 02-20-2014, 03:26 AM According to Deadline.com, FOX is developing another family comedy (a fantasy one) titled "Dark Lord of Delaware", from the writers of the film Megamind, Alan Schoolcraft and Ben Simon, as well as former Fox head of comedy-turned-producer Marcus Wiley.
The project, now in development, centers on Zarbus, a man who must deal with the conflicting emotions of being a stay at home dad after losing his job. The situation is made all the more challenging by the fact his previous position was that of a Voldemort-like evil sorcerer who once ruled over a magical kingdom. Now banished to our world, he must navigate the social minefield of suburbia while keeping his omnipotent powers in check.
king of comedy 02-20-2014, 07:12 AM This sounds interesting. A fantasy show is a change from the regular ones on Animation Domination.
James28 02-21-2014, 01:20 PM This week, for the first time in its history, American Idol had its ratings lower than a 3.0 in the demo and 10 million total viewers, thanks to airing against the Sochi Winter Olympics.
The special Tuesday airing, on 18 February, had a 2.7 demo rating with a viewership of 9.73 million.
The Wednesday airing, on 19 February, had a 2.65 demo rating with a viewership of 9.952 million (the closest to 10 million, but still a low).
The Thursday airing, on 20 February, had a 2.4 demo rating with a viewership of 9.36 million -- a new series low.
If you're airing an original episode against the Olympics, you're bound to hit new series lows in viewership.
icecream 03-03-2014, 11:32 PM Schedule changes starting next week

James28 03-04-2014, 01:05 PM Rake is being sent to Friday nights starting 14 March, and Kitchen Nightmares is being benched for later. FOX Friday will be a flop zone, all of its shows (Rake, RH, Enlisted) have crap ratings and are unlikely to return next season.
Also, Hell's Kitchen will start airing on 13 March at 8 p.m., and American Idol will shift to 9 p.m.. After AI is trimmed to a half-hour on 27 March, Surviving Jack will debut at the 9:30 p.m. timeslot.
James28 03-07-2014, 09:07 PM Fox has renewed four series for the 2014-15 season: Brooklyn Nine-Nine gets a second season, New Girl gets a fourth season, The Following gets a third season, and The Mindy Project also gets a third season.

James28 03-10-2014, 03:42 PM Raising Hope has been cancelled after four seasons; One-hour last episode to air on 4 April.
http://www.deadline.com/2014/03/foxs-raising-hope-cancelled-after-four-seasons/
irehtman 03-10-2014, 08:17 PM All we need to do is wait for Enlisted to get renewed because it fits well with Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
James28 04-01-2014, 05:59 PM The last two episodes of Rake will air back-to-back on Saturday, 5 April. Taking over the Fridays at 8 timeslot this Friday, 4 April, will be a repeat of the last season finale of Kitchen Nightmares (leading to the last two episodes of Raising Hope). KN, which is continuing a storyline from the last cycle as it is set at the same restaurant, will debut as planned next Friday, but with a two-hour episode instead of one hour behind Rake. KN is is slated to air two-hour segments through 2 May.

HarryWild 04-05-2014, 10:18 PM Fox Network has spend a ton on getting American Idol back on track by doing a complete $6 million makeover of their stage; hired new producers and directors and gave JLo a fat 2 year contract - at $15 million a season; not year! Usually, there is at least two season per year of American Idol! Keith Urban has gotten a new contract too with a bump in pay too. Harry Connick signed on for one year and is reported to be paid $1 million a season.
It to nobody's surprise has been renewed for the upcoming seasons!
If I were Connick; I wait and see how the audience reacts to himself and if it is positive; I ask for a contract equal to Keith Urban or walk away!
James28 04-17-2014, 08:18 PM Animation Domination High-Def will cease to exist as a late-night block on June 28 after 11 months on the air. Fox will resume airing repeats in its time slot.
http://www.deadline.com/2014/04/fox-pulls-animation-domination-high-def-from-late-night-steers-initiative-to-digital-primetime/#more-716360
irehtman 04-20-2014, 03:20 PM This might be bad struggle to make a decision on these three comedies for next season:
Dads
Enlisted
Surviving Jack
One gets chosen, the two others are axed.
But we know that Brooklyn Nine-Nine has to move to a new night away from both New Girl and The Mindy Project.
king of comedy 04-20-2014, 04:25 PM Please cancel Dads Fox!! It's garbage!
king of comedy 04-20-2014, 04:27 PM Animation Domination High-Def will cease to exist as a late-night block on June 28 after 11 months on the air. Fox will resume airing repeats in its time slot.

The only show I liked from Animation Domination High-def was High School USA. Axe Cop was terrible.
irehtman 04-20-2014, 04:48 PM So either Enlisted or Surviving Jack will get chosen and the other gets axed like Dads.
yankeesrj12 04-21-2014, 09:17 PM So either Enlisted or Surviving Jack will get chosen and the other gets axed like Dads.
I think both will be cancelled.
irehtman 04-21-2014, 09:36 PM I think both will be cancelled.
One of these three will have to move on, but the other two will get thrown away:
Dads
Enlisted
Surviving Jack
James28 04-21-2014, 11:42 PM How about all three of them get cancelled?
irehtman 04-22-2014, 07:55 AM How about all three of them get cancelled?
I wouldn't say that at all. I know all three of them are bad, but I might predict that Dads is the correct choice to get cancelled, but either Enlisted or Surviving Jack will get chosen for the next season, but not both at the same time.
James28 04-22-2014, 06:21 PM ^^Out of the three, I would just choose Surviving Jack to get the renewal for next season.
king of comedy 04-23-2014, 06:14 AM Ditto. To me Surviving Jack is the best of all 3.
irehtman 04-23-2014, 07:34 AM So since we are fighting for Surviving Jack to get renewed, then I might predict that both Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Surviving Jack should move to a NEW night by next season.
yankeesrj12 04-23-2014, 11:50 AM All three are duds. Dads is long gone, FOX has pulled Enlisted, and Surviving Jack has yet to find it's bottom (and its already at a 1.0).
James28 04-23-2014, 03:12 PM Another scheduling change: FOX-BC just pushed the premiere of MasterChef to 26 May. Bones will now air a repeat on 28 April, the night of The Following's second season finale, with the last two episodes for Bones's ninth season paired with the first two regular-slot episodes of 24: Live Another Day on May 12 and 19.
http://www.deadline.com/2014/04/fox-pushes-masterchef-premiere-by-week/
irehtman 04-24-2014, 07:10 AM Surviving Jack will be the last comedy to get renewed for its survival. But I still predict that both Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Surviving Jack need to move to a new night by next season.
James28 04-29-2014, 10:26 PM Almost Human is officially cancelled. It won't be back for season two.
http://www.deadline.com/2014/04/fox-drama-almost-human-cancelled/
irehtman 05-01-2014, 08:34 PM That could happen the same thing for CBS' Intelligence.
irehtman 05-05-2014, 12:46 PM So no wonder Glee, New Girl and The Mindy Project are having problems this season:
These three, which are renewed for next season, are getting too desperate to require all criticism, viewership and ratings from these people, BOTH ALL MEN AND ALL OLDER PEOPLE more likely than both all women and all younger people, in a hurry.
I was wondering why in Glee right after Corey Montieth was badly overlooked and then sent into a locked rehab and died, the moving the New York situation was brought up and then going too fast at the same time.
I was wondering why in New Girl they picked coach as a fourth male member rather than a third female member, who is like both Jess and Cece types, as a sixth member.
I was wondering why in The Mindy Project the focus on Mindy's Men situation went too fast, they let go of both Gwen and Shauna and reduce Betsy as a guest for next season. My insisting on adding a cranky old man doctor character should be not doubt about getting added in the main cast to substitute Betsy next season.
It has been revealed that FOX is under a bad full recession this season after the Super Bowl and Winter Olympics aired in the same month, February 2014.
I have a feeling that NBC will be under a bad full recession in 2018 and CBS will be under a bad full recession in 2022. FOX will not be put under bad full recession until 2026, IMO.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine will move to a new night, that I can predict.
James28 05-07-2014, 05:48 PM Glee's viewership has been horrible this season (less than a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and around 2.4 million total viewers). I can really see why Ryan Murphy wants to end the show with Season 6.
Also, New Girl is produced by 20th Century Fox Television while Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Mindy Project are produced by Universal Television. Does this mean FOX has the least faith in shows produced by an in-house/sibling studio and all of their comedies have to be produced by an outside studio like Universal TV?
irehtman 05-07-2014, 07:12 PM James28:
I know Ryan Murphy was in a hurry to end Glee by next season due to horrible viewership, especially after Corey Monteith's death, they have to move to New York.
But what made it worse was that the moving New York situation was kind of TOO HURRIED.
It has been revealed the FOX Network was put under a bad recession this season, due to both the Super Bowl airing on FOX and Winter Olympics airing on NBC in the same month of February 2014.
This recession incident is not completely off-topic.
JamesG 05-07-2014, 07:27 PM Fox has canceled "Dads", "Surviving Jack" and "Enlisted".

king of comedy 05-08-2014, 06:37 AM Dads is canceled? There is a God!!
irehtman 05-08-2014, 07:21 AM Thank god, Dads is officially cancelled! I was hoping either Enlisted OR Surviving Jack, but not both, would be chosen for its next season, but it's too late now!
More likely Brooklyn Nine-Nine will move to a new night away from both New Girl and The Mindy Project, because it is considered too independently successful.
I have a prediction that Last Man On Earth, the new comedy, should team up with Brooklyn Nine-Nine next season, IMO.

icecream 05-29-2014, 02:38 PM Kevin Reilly is "stepping down" as the head of FOX entertainment. Good riddance, the only show I really liked under him was Touch, and he ruined its long-term chances moving Touch to Friday. Plus he cancelled Back to You but kept Til Death, which was a total dud in both first-run and syndication. I liked Raising Hope to an extent but it peaked in season 2 and got worse every year after. And he picked up the Alexis Bledel comedy but never bothered scheduling it, plus cancelled The Goodwin Games before it premiered.

The Fox Entertainment chairman is exiting after Fox placed 4th in total viewers and 2nd in the key 18-49 demo. Reilly put shows like "The Mindy Project" and "New Girl" on the air. Before Fox, he was NBC Entertainment president, responsible for shows like "The Office," "30 Rock," "Friday Night Lights" and "Heroes."

James28 06-10-2014, 05:17 PM Remember the proposed new single-camera comedy series Us & Them which was canceled and shut down production last October after six episodes? Well, it turns out that the sitcom won't ever air on the network at all.
James28 06-12-2014, 03:29 PM I Wanna Marry "Harry" and Riot have been pulled from the FOX schedule effective immediately. They'll be replaced with repeats of Family Guy, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl and The Mindy Project.
