"Dharma And Greg" is currently "on the bubble" as they say in TV lingo. It's fate will be decided by the end of the season. Along with a handful of other long running shows.

I think it'll stick around just for a filler and to try and boost new shows...I think Dharma's days of prime time slots may be over! Back to the 8:30, 9:30 slots.

I heard that if ABC drop the show the WB are gonna pick it up and "retool" it. Apparently, they want Dharma and Greg to adopt a teenage daughter!

I hope that doesn't happen -- it's too typical a plot for the WB. Let this show rest in peace as it has lived a successful and somewhat entertaining run. :happyface :happyface :happyface

I hope that doesn't happen. I mean that would change what the whole show was about. The WB really needs to stop taking up cancelled shows what are they trying to be UPN.

I can't believe they're canceling this, but leaving Drew Carrey on...that is the dumbest show I have ever seen.

I agree although I don't watch Dharma and Greg alot I think it is much better than Drew Carrey. But I assure everyone that Drew Carrey will be cancelled next season seeing that this seasons ratings were bad next season will likely be even worse.

That bugs me they are cancelling it. It is one of the few good shows left on network tv. Network tv just gets worse & worse. They cancel all the good shows. :(

I created a petition to ABC-TV and Chuck Lorre Productions to save "Dharma & Greg" from cancellation. The address is

It's very important:)

Even though it's been cancelled, i wish it could've stayed for a few more seasons. It's one of the best sitcoms ever!!!:(

The real reason Dharma & Greg was canceled
(https://www.looper.com/231627/the-real-reason-dharma-greg-was-canceled/)

Dharma & Greg's cancellation was a familiar song with a twist

There's no particular drama leading to the cancellation of the show insofar as basic facts, but it's arguably also a victim of a unique moment in television. The simple answer is that Dharma & Greg didn't perform well — its fourth season, which aired during a relatively late time slot and against the juggernaut Frasier, suffered due to stiff competition. Its fifth and final season continued to droop to half of its peak Nielsen rating back in season 3, and so it and the other last vestige of the 1997 premiere season, Ally McBeal, were both canceled. That's the official story, but there's a twist. As we said, Dharma & Greg was canceled in 2002, but that fifth season began the previous September — September 25th, 2001, in fact.

The terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001 had a radical effect on all media in production, first release, and syndication in the immediate aftermath, and for years afterward. The television season typically begins in early September, and all those premieres that year, new and renewed shows alike, were put back weeks in response to the tragedy and the overwhelming amount of news coverage in the weeks and months afterward. The setback of a rescheduled season premiere will hit any show hard, but the post-event mourning doesn't leave much room for light-hearted odd-couple sitcoms, either.

Starting on September 25 is what a lot of shows do, it is the last week of September that kicks off the new season (or the third week this year). Unlike first-run syndicated shows, the first two weeks of September are still part of the summer off season.
