My brother is having surgery today to remove a suspicious nodule on his right lung. It will be sent for testing. The Oncologist can already tell that the area is cancerous. :( It's believed that the cancer cell(s) spread to the right lung before his left leg was amputated in November 2011. The suspicious area went undetected in January of this year [it was small], but now is twice the size. It's 5mm (2 inches).

A chest tube will have to be put in to help his chest from collapsing and he will remain in ICU after the surgery for a few days. The surgery is expected to take two and half hours. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

My brother is out of surgery and doing ok. Initial look shows that the nodule is a sarcoma (cancer), but the surgeon was able to remove it. They are waiting to get pathology results. He hasn't been moved to a room yet. He's still in recovery.

My mother just called. I spoke to her briefly. The surgery was over three hours ago, but my brother is still in recovery. He has not been taken to a room yet. My mother said that he's in a lot of pain and that the doctors let her and my sister-in-law see him very briefly. My mother was having trouble keeping it together on the phone. I don't know if it's a bad sign or not that he hasn't been taken to a room yet.

My brother was finally brought to a room yesterday evening. He is having a rough day post-surgery, but hopefully with time he will feel better. He currently can't keep any food down and there are other TMI problems.
