View Full Version : Flooding/Ignore Lists
icecream 05-06-2013, 11:44 AM On the General Sitcoms board Neutronman has been flooding it for a few weeks with dozens of threads. I'm getting irritated having to go through all of them to see other posts. Putting him on ignore wouldn't help, his threads would still show up as new posts. I think if you have someone on ignore you should be able to ignore all threads they start in addition to their posts.
MrCleveland 05-06-2013, 03:28 PM There may be a rule for that and if there is...he may be removed from this site.
shotzette 05-06-2013, 07:36 PM I agree that most of his/her posts aren't really relevant, but they aren't as annoying as the "shelby's news you can use" tripe. N67 seems like he/she's just reaching out.

There's one big difference here, Neutronman floods the board with individual threads while Shelby keeps her posts confined to one thread.

and I believe she has permission to do that.
icecream 07-08-2013, 01:32 PM Over two months later and no response from TJ :(
It had gotten better for awhile but Neutronman has gotten back to his flooding ways about individual shows. I really think updating the ignore list so you can ignore all threads started by that person would be a big improvement.

I don't get the point of that Shelby's news you can use thread. Shelby is the only person who posts in that pointless thread.

Let the administrators determine whether or not a thread is pointless. If they agreed with you then it would've been deleted long ago. Her thread isn't hurting anyone and nobody here is making you click the link and read it.
Mr. Television 07-08-2013, 06:40 PM Shelby barely posts. She isn't hurting anybody.

Neutronman however is irritating when he's flooding the boards like he did the other day. He wasn't even putting the topics in the right forums.

Janice 07-09-2013, 12:27 PM Shelby does have permission for her ONE thread, so lay off.

I agree with you and Charles on this

Lee, why do you always chime in after the discussion is over? It's like you live in the land of "me too!".
Mr. Television 07-10-2013, 09:22 PM I wish someone could stop that troll from London from coming here. He posts stupid stuff with a bunch of smilies and flags. He floods the boards and it seems like I've reported him over a dozen times. He always comes back.

Sonny, would you be comfortable divulging this person's username? If not, shoot me a PM, I'm interested!

I believe they've used more than one. (smithryan6 being the latest)

He changes his name everytime he comes here. Here's his current profile page. This time he's mocking Roby's breakfast thread.
Edit: The Idiot's profile page was removed and the link goes to another member's page now so I removed the link.

Hmm, OK, thanks. Not familiar with this one. I'll keep my eyes open for him/her now, though!

He must be getting slower with his old age. He used to post a lot more smilies.
tiredmike59 07-10-2013, 10:01 PM Anyone know what flag he's waving ? Looks like the Jordanian flag.

I'm not sure. I think that's the flag he uses in all his posts.

i think its the Al Queda flag - how could anyone mock breakfast ?
icecream 10-01-2013, 04:29 PM In response to what TJ said on the General Sitcoms thread that is now locked: putting neotronman on ignore won't solve the problem. The ignore list needs updated so if you have someone on ignore you automatically don't see any of the threads they start. If he starts flooding the General Sitcoms board again his many threads will show up as new posts, even though he's supposedly on ignore. I've tried mentioning this a few times before but TJ didn't bother to respond. I'm obviously not the only one who has been irritated by this flooding, and like I said, the current setup of the ignore list does not solve the problem.
There's nothing more we can do with the ignore list with this software. You are going to have to deal with it until other options become available. The ignore option is there for those who wish to use it. If you don't like a person's threads, then don't click on them. Try harder to ignore them.
He has only 11 threads on the main board. That's not an excessive amount. All of them have replies. It may seem like he has more because of the volume he has created over a period of months. Those threads are getting bumped back up. He's not creating more and more new threads.
We could set a limit of 1 post every hour or so. That would affect everybody, however. There's no option to set a daily post limit per user.
Members here need to have more understanding for members who may have special needs. Posting on forums is one of their few ways to communicate. Why do people find it necessary to call them stupid threads? Show some sensitivity. We also don't need people criticizing people's grammar/spelling when they clearly have some challenges.
People need to lighten up here. We don't have enough threads or activity to be complaining about things like this.

Great post, my thoughts exactly.
We have too many internet bullies here who like to call the shots and have everything their own way. They complain about the smallest things. There are too many veteran posters who act like they own the joint. It's no wonder we get so few new regular posters. They are driven away by a few select members who act like know-it-alls.

I can't speak to any of the other posters, but neutronman seems like a harmless and obviously enthusiastic fellow who just has a lot of ideas and is always pretty positive.
Yeah, I think sometimes we forget that some folks are shut-ins or for whatever reason, don't have access to many other social outlets and tend to rely on message boards for that. Hey, why not? At least most of his threads generate replies...I have no issue with him.
I was able to edit one of the templates, so it should now completely hide an ignored user's posts from the forums and search. Hopefully that will alleviate some of the complaints and keep everybody happy. Use it at your own risk.

Just curious- it says you joined 1 day ago.
How can you comment on things that need to change without being here for a little while?
Or did you rejoin?
