View Full Version : Sitcom character with a deceased sibling?
biffbronson 05-05-2013, 07:29 PM Who are some sitcom characters with a brother or sister said to have died, or died during a series?
For example, on Family Affair, the character Bill Davis had a deceased brother named Bob.
McGillicuddy 05-06-2013, 03:23 AM On The Golden Girls, Dorothy Zbornak's brother Phil, died during the series run.
On Mama's Family, Thelma's sister Fran died.
MacLeaper 05-06-2013, 05:00 PM The whole premise of "Full House" was that Uncle Jesse's sister Pam had died in a car crash when her car was hit by a drunk driver.
(And thus, Pam's husband, Danny, needed help raising their three girls, so Uncle Jesse and Joey moved in to help out.)
Later on in the series, Jesse's grandfather also died.
Chuck Cunningham on "Happy Days" and Judy Winslow on "Family Matters" might as well have been killed off.
Retro4Life 05-06-2013, 06:00 PM Well, he wasn't deceased ON the show, but Archie Bunker's brother came back to make up with him and at that point he was terminally ill.
janet42 05-06-2013, 06:53 PM On "Family" Nancy, Willie, and Buddy had a brother name Timmy who died of drowning when he was ten.
Ryan Chamberlain 05-06-2013, 11:00 PM Winnie Cooper. The Wonder Years. That was sort of a dram-com though.
Her brother Brian (wasn't it?) died in the first or second episode off screen in Nam.

*ROGER* 05-07-2013, 06:26 AM The Office = Kelly Kapoor's sister.
andress_jade 05-07-2013, 10:06 PM On the episode of the Cosby Show "Cliff Babysits", he's watching the twins Winnie and Nelson while everyone is at a Michael Jackson concert, he mentions that he had a brother James Aloysius Huxtable that died when he was a boy. Cliff used to have to help watch him sometimes. He died of pneumatic fever. Theo's middle name was Aloysius, named after his late uncle James. :)
Also, even though it's not a sitcom, on Dr. Quinn Sully mentions that he had a brother that died after being thrown from a horse. Sully is afraid of horses after that until Cloud Dancing helps him get over his fear.

It was Winnie's brother Brian, and it happened in the first episode.

Yes; Brian Cooper was killed in Vietnam in the first episode of the show.
James 05-09-2013, 01:38 PM I believe Olivia said in one episode that she gave birth to a stillborn on The Waltons around the time Jim Bob was born, if that counts.
MacLeaper 05-09-2013, 01:40 PM Certainly that counts, as far as I'm concerned.
robyrob 05-09-2013, 03:44 PM On Two and A Half Men, Alan Harper's brother Charlie is dead.
McGillicuddy 05-09-2013, 07:25 PM On Little House on the Prairie Mary, Laura, and Carrie had a little brother Charles Jr. who died as a baby.
