What real life sitcom from the 1950's-1990's would you like to be made into a cartoon series or movie ???

I must say "Gimme a Break", In the animated series Nell Harper and the Cheif would both work together against crime. Nell would still housesit at day and officer Simpson would be the bumbling cop...and the fish talk.

I would also see Steve Urkel from "Family Matters" be an animated series. Jaeel White actually did do voice acting as Sonic.

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air needs an animated series it would be cool to see carlton ans will smith in cartoon.

For this question, it might be interesting to look at what cartoons have been made that were based on live action sitcoms and how they fared:

"Sabrina, The Teenage Witch" - this series had two cartoon series based on it- "Sabrina, The Animated Series" and "Sabrina's Secret Life"- both seem to fare pretty well, but technically all three of these shows are based on the Archie Comics character- so the cartoon versions aren't really based solely on the live action sitcom (and of course, Sabrina had a '70s cartoon long before all of this as well.)

Roseanne- "Little Rosey" is technically somewhat based on the show, but more so on Roseanne Barr's life- it didn't last but 13 episodes in 1990.

The Patridge Family- "Patridge Family 2200 AD" (aired 16 episodes from 1974-1975)

My Favorite Martian- "My Favorite Martians" (aired 16 episodes in 1973)

Mr. Bean - "Mr. Bean: The Animated Series" (52 episode run from 2002-2003)

"Sit Down, Shut Up" - 2001 Australian sitcom that ran for 13 episodes. It later had a 2009 cartoon version that aired in America and also ran for 13 episodes.

The Muppet Show- "Muppet Babies" (extremely popular, from 1984-1992)
"Little Muppet Monsters" (cancelled after 3 episodes aired in 1985)

Fraggle Rock- "Fraggle Rock" (13 episodes in 1987- I am probably one of the few Muppet fans who enjoys both the live action puppet show and the cartoon version- and they're all on DVD now, which is quite cool!)

Gilligan's Island- "The New Adventures of Gilligan" (24 episode run from 1974-1976)
and "Gilligan's Planet" (13 episodes from 1982 to 1983)

The Brady Bunch- "The Brady Kids" (22 episodes from 1972-1973)

Bewitched- "Tabitha & Adam and the Clown Family" (one time special that aired in 1972)

The Dick Van Dyke Show- "The Alan Brady Show" (aired on TVLand in 2003 briefly)

The Addams Family- "The Addams Family" (1973 series that aired 16 episodes; also had a guest appearance on "The New Scooby-Doo Movies")
and "The Addams Family" (1992 series that had 21 episodes)

Happy Days- "The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang" (24 episodes aired from 1980-1981)

Laverne & Shirley- "Laverne & Shirley in The Army" (aired 13 episodes in 1981-1982) - This series later became "Mork & Mindy/Laverne & Shirley/Fonz Hour" and ran from 1982-1983. The L&S portions got 8 more episodes, making 21 episodes altogether. These 8 episodes also featured The Fonz and his dog Mr. Cool from "The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang" cartoon series.

Mork & Mindy- "Mork & Mindy/Laverne & Shirley/Fonz Hour" - The series was broken up into two half-hour segments- one half for Mork & Mindy and the other half for Laverne & Shirley [and The Fonz]. Mork & Mindy had 26 episodes.

I Dream of Jeannie- "Jeannie" (ran for 16 episodes in 1975; Jeannie and Babu also made one appearance on "The New Scooby-Doo Movies"; furthermore, Babu was later featured on "Laff-A-Lympics" as a member of the Scooby-Doobies team.)

That Girl- "That Girl in Wonderland" (one time special that ran in 1973)

Punky Brewster- "It's Punky Brewster" (ran for 21 episodes from 1985-1986)

ALF- "ALF: The Animated Series" (ran for 26 episodes from 1987-1988)
and "ALF Tales" (ran for 21 episodes from 1988-1989)

I could see steve urkel having his own animated series back in the 90's since he was so popular back then jaleel white could play his voice

Both "I Love Lucy" and "The Honeymooners" do feature a brief bit of animation in their introduction theme song credits. :-) But yeah- a cartoon series probably could have worked well. "The Honeymooners" has gotten at least one homage in a Looney Tunes short, featuring families of mice filling in for the Nortons and Kramdens.:) :cool:
