When you first subscribe to basic cable, you may notice a certain type of channel that tends to get buried in publicity and popularity but no matter how bad its programs are it keeps plugging away determined to serve what little but loyal viewers it has. This channel is formally referred as a Public Access or Community Cable station. Mike Myers took the idea of Public Access TV a step further by creating "Wayne's World" for TV and movies and turned it into a national punchline. Yet, believe it or not, there is a channel out there that does more than serve up the usual bland community fare of municipal politics, church services, high school sports and amateur arts and crafts shows.

CFTV Channel 34 in Leamington, Ontario, serving the Southern Ontario areas around London, Sarnia, Windsor, and into Detroit, Mich. carries all of the above programming types but it has also mixed into the schedule various classic movies and sitcoms including "Bewitched", "Cheers", "Sanford & Son" and "McHale's Navy". Even better, this channel is now available nationally on the Bell ExpressVu satellite system on Channel 586 so anyone can check it out. The only trick is that there is no set time and date for any show and no episode info on any of the online TV guides I've checked so I'll just give you a few highlights just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about starting with tomorrow morning:

Sunday

4:45 am - "Ben-Hur"
8:30 - Barney Miller
9:00 - "Anchors Aweigh" (Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly)
11:30 - Bewitched
3:00 pm - "Along Came Jones" (Gary Cooper)
4:30 - Cheers
7:00 - "Blue Hawaii" (Elvis Presley)
8:45 - "Casino Royale" (Peter Sellers, David Niven)

Monday - 11:00 am - "Frankie & Johnny" (Elvis Presley, Donna Douglas)

Tuesday - 1:30 pm - McHale's Navy

Friday May 10

11:30 AM Get Smart
10:00 PM "Frankenstein" (Boris Karloff)
11:15 Get Smart
11:45 Three Stooges

Saturday May 11

11:30 AM Sanford and Son
12:00 PM "Pride of the Yankees"

Weird isn't it? A little mixed up but great if you're the curious type like myself.

Mike Myers would be proud!
