#31. Why We Love Zooey Deschanel
It’s probably fair to say that nobody, in the entire history of mankind, has ever looked hotter in a Christmas-elf outfit than Zooey Deschanel. For she was wearing that very get-up when we all first fell head-over-arse in love her, as deadpan-but-adorable shopworker Jovie in Elf.
It was immediately apparent that Zooey was Hollywood’s brand-new Queen of Quirk: smart-but-daft, adorable-yet-edgy, sexy-but-approachable. She’s the ideal girlfriend, basically. Plus, she’s also a millionaire movie-star, which would be an awesome bonus and a brilliant bit of icing on an already delicious cake.
Zooey’s so-called “adorkable” appeal is so powerful, TV execs decided to build an entire sitcom around it: "New Girl". A weekly dose of Zooey’s cutesy clumsiness and squinty-faced sexiness? Yes puh-lease...
