Frump 05-04-2013, 10:50 AM What kind of television shows do you think mr archie bunker watched on TV ??? Wel we know he liked Westerns, he talked about them quite a bit and John Wyan. He liked the 3 Stooges, he talked about some of those goofy horror movies, I can't see him as enjoying horror movies but he mentioned one or 2. gilligan fanatic 05-04-2013, 11:30 AM I remember him mentioning Gusnmoke and like Frump mentioned goofy horror movies. I always pictured them to be like low budget foriegn movies that were dubbed. He definetly watched sports and I could see him liking cartoons Frump 05-04-2013, 03:33 PM I remember him mentioning Gusnmoke and like Frump mentioned goofy horror movies. I always pictured them to be like low budget foriegn movies that were dubbed. He definetly watched sports and I could see him liking cartoons I doubt he would like a Freddy or Jason movie lol Neutronman67 05-04-2013, 05:05 PM I dont think he would have watched the brady bunch on TV they were the perfect family and the bunkers were not lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXj5Nl9sHiw biffbronson 05-06-2013, 06:41 AM Regarding cartoons, he read Dennis the Menace comic books -- so maybe he was also a fan of the TV versions (animated and old live-action). He was also seen reading a Tarzan comic book. Neutronman67 05-06-2013, 07:53 AM Since archie was a bigot i dont think he watched any black TV shows, the only show i can see him watching maybe is the flip wilson show lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHE32dm7ME0 Frump 05-06-2013, 07:58 AM He could have been like my grandpa and said Black ppl make the best entertainers lol My grandpa was SORTA in ways bigoted but was not aware of it, but he was bigoted but was not really aware of it. He was bigoted in the sense that he would PRAISE other races and cultures but I've hear ppl find that offensive as well, like he would say, "Black ppl are naturally funny" "Chinese ppl are the smartest ppl on the planet and things like that. 70s show watcher 05-06-2013, 05:12 PM it was also said that he and edith both liked to watch johnny carson Neutronman67 05-07-2013, 07:27 AM I think Archie Bunker would be a huge fan of leave it to beaver *ROGER* 05-07-2013, 07:38 AM Archie liked midget wrestling. gilligan fanatic 05-07-2013, 02:50 PM Archie liked midget wrestling. midget mud wrestling ;) Neutronman67 05-08-2013, 07:31 AM Archie would not have liked to see his enemy george jefferson have his own show as a rich black man who owns 12 cleaning stores in america lol biffbronson 05-14-2013, 08:13 PM I think you're mistaken if you believe a bigoted person like Archie wouldn't have watched African-American series -- in the past, entertainers like Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr., Diahann Carroll, Robert Guillaume, and Cicely Tyson all did a lot of TV work, and it's a certainty that at least a portion of those watching were bigoted to some degree...! The popularity of stars like these stretched across all lines. Mr. Drucker 05-15-2013, 09:39 AM Being a war veteran,he might have watched "Combat" and "Twelve O'Clock High" in the sixties. The LAST show he probably would have ever watched would have been the hugely anti-establishment "Smothers Brothers".Even worse for him than "Pinko Cronkite"! Neutronman67 05-17-2013, 07:06 AM Archie most likely watching action pact show's i am sure he watched the six million dollar man on TV everyday biffbronson 05-24-2013, 11:18 AM What year did The Six Million Dollar Man enter syndication? Until then, Arch wouldn't have been able to watch it "everyday" (especially in those years before home VCRs!). Neutronman67 05-28-2013, 07:42 PM The Million Dollar Man came out in the 1970's 1974, Archie would most likely watch the girls next door the playboy show for perverted men ofcourse archie would be in trouble with his wife edith and she would want to divorce him for watching a show like that on TV lol Mr. Television 06-18-2013, 07:21 AM What year did The Six Million Dollar Man enter syndication? Until then, Arch wouldn't have been able to watch it "everyday" (especially in those years before home VCRs!). It was in the late 70's. I remember it being on 5 days a week when it first entered syndication. It didn't last long on my locals though. king of comedy 06-18-2013, 07:26 AM It was in the late 70's. I remember it being on 5 days a week when it first entered syndication. It didn't last long on my locals though. I think I also remembered Archie loved watching Westerns with John Wayne. cleverfun3000 06-18-2013, 08:32 AM http://i.imgur.com/jAw23E6.jpg (http://lunapic.com>) visaman666 06-19-2013, 06:04 AM All the shows on CBS of course ;) Mr. Drucker 06-19-2013, 11:09 AM Or as Archie called it,"the network with the big eye on the truck"..... Harry the Hat 07-05-2013, 08:57 AM From the 1971 Primetime TV schedule Archie may have watched... Sunday: The FBI then Bonanza Monday: Gunsmoke and Monday Night Football Tuesday: Ironside, Hawaii 5-0, and Cannon Wednesday: Adam 12, The NBC Mystery Movie (Columbo, etc), and Mannix Thursday: The CBS Thursday Night Movie Friday: who knows? Was that his bowling night?? Saturday: NBC Saturday Night at the Movies Of course he also watched the nightly news, midget wrassling, Duke Wayne movies, Mets games, football, and anything with Sammy Davis Jr. TheCars1986 07-18-2013, 09:06 AM If he were around today he'd probably watch Fox News. 704Hauser 07-25-2013, 08:54 PM If he were around today he'd probably watch Fox News. Definitely, I can see him loving Hannity, Huckabee and O'Reilly! Archie would have gladly watched 1980s family sitcoms with Joey whenever he was over, except The Cosby Show, for obvious reasons. ohiopplrlosers 07-26-2013, 08:50 AM I'm doubting he would have liked Everybody Loves Raymond. Although, you never know. I'm guessing he would have liked Frank Barone. gilligan fanatic 07-27-2013, 07:25 AM All the shows on CBS of course ;) Except Walter Cronkite because he is a communist ;) Frump 07-29-2013, 09:01 PM I'm doubting he would have liked Everybody Loves Raymond. Although, you never know. I'm guessing he would have liked Frank Barone. I'm sure he would have loved Frank lol I think he might would have liked the Andy Griffith Show and The Beverlly Hillbillies, MAYBE Sanfor and Son. TheCars1986 08-01-2013, 10:33 PM Definitely, I can see him loving Hannity, Huckabee and O'Reilly! Archie would have gladly watched 1980s family sitcoms with Joey whenever he was over, except The Cosby Show, for obvious reasons. Yeah he would have been a Rush Limbaugh guy too. 704Hauser 08-02-2013, 12:40 AM Yeah he would have been a Rush Limbaugh guy too. Very true, and don't forget Michael Savage's radio show! He might have watched Pat Buchanan on MSNBC too. biffbronson 08-02-2013, 04:15 AM Archie would have gladly watched 1980s family sitcoms with Joey whenever he was over, except The Cosby Show, for obvious reasons. Archie wouldn't exclude Bill Cosby from his viewing just because he's black -- witness his admiration of Sammy Davis Jr. Actually it would be The Meathead who would exclude The Cosby Show from shows for Joey, because he wouldn't want his son to believe that African-Americans can be affluent. TheCars1986 08-02-2013, 09:56 AM He'd probably also be a loyal viewer of the 700 club. Frump 08-02-2013, 10:08 AM A little OT but I wonder if Archie would have liked late night talk shows like Letterman and Leno? visaman666 08-07-2013, 09:56 PM A little OT but I wonder if Archie would have liked late night talk shows like Letterman and Leno? He watched Carson, especially if he had Sammy Davis Jr. as a guest! Mark McNeil 08-20-2013, 11:07 PM Of course he also watched the nightly news, midget wrassling, Duke Wayne movies, Mets games, football, and anything with Sammy Davis Jr. Oh, he definitely watched football on Sunday afternoons. According to Mike, he was swearing at Joe Namath the whole time. :) Neutronman67 09-24-2013, 05:11 PM Archie Bunker would most likely like watching Saved By The Bell with his grandkids singing the intro to the song lol TVLegend 06-16-2022, 01:27 PM I wasn’t going to bump this thread but I thought I just had to when I stumbled upon a post like this: Archie would not have liked to see his enemy george jefferson have his own show as a rich black man who owns 12 cleaning stores in america lol How in hell was Archie going to see George on TV, having his own show? Both were fictional, or in other words, they were NOT real. Chocolate Moose 06-16-2022, 02:10 PM Sports definitely! Wawwie 06-16-2022, 02:17 PM I can imagine Archie liking shows like The Rifleman, Bonanza or Wagon Train. sm95fan 06-16-2022, 03:46 PM Archie said if not for sports, he'd throw the TV into the Gowanus Canal after the TV 'nutworks' turned Stephanie into little "Joan" Fonda. He also mentioned watching Rifleman, pro wrestling, Wild Kingdom, Gilligan's Island, In Search Of, and anything with John Wayne. MikeLutton 06-17-2022, 01:14 AM can u see Archie n Meathead watching Fox News Together he would of liked Me tv n Antenna tv Yong Fang 07-19-2022, 05:51 AM According to the show, Archie liked football, baseball (he played the game well as a youth) and boxing. He also watched the evening news. Old films from his era was another favorite. If he were still alive would probably watch a lot of FOX News. visaman666 07-25-2022, 05:02 PM Archie mentioned a few shows; Swing Out Sweet Land, a John Wayne special, Room 222, Mod Squad. Edith watched the Soaps MikeLutton 07-29-2022, 07:30 PM Edith always mentioned marcus welby md Yong Fang 09-15-2022, 08:27 AM MLB baseball and NFL football. Boxing if it happened to be on, which it was. He also watched the national news although he had a low opinion of Walter Cronkite. Probably old movies from around the WWII era and before. Also, Sanford and Son, because those coloreds were funny as hell. |
