(The Washington Capitals beat the NY Rangers 3-1.)

(Ralph just watched the game from Ed's apartment.)

Ed: "Well, Ralph there goes another evening of ours down the drain as we say in the sewer."

Ralph: "You are so right Norton. It was also against those lowly Capitals. THe same Capitals that keep on screwing the Rangers."

Ed: "I bet that our president must be proud."

Ralph: "Who cares? I want to see the Islanders meet the Rangers in the third round, do you?"

Ed: "Of course I do Ralph but with the way that both teams have been playing, it doesn't look like that will happen."

Ralph: "It will happen Norton. This area hasn't seen a playoff hockey round like that is 30 years. It will be a great battle of New York."

Ed: "That's telling it Ralph. Why don't we go shout it from where we work that New York will rule the third round of the Eastern Conference?"

Ralph: "Oh, I also have to contend with that poor, misguided soul Joe Fenstablau. He predicted that the Capitals will win."

Ed: "Well, you got to cheer up Ralph. You got to smile. Come on Ralph, smile. You can give me a smile."

(Ralph smiles.)

Ed: "That's the way it is. Beautiful. Beautiful. Now, don't think of today. Think of happier times. Think of when the Rangers where only down by one one goal and not by two. Think of when the Rangers had a chance to win."

(Unbeknownst to Ed, Ralph is not smiling.)

Ed: "Ralph, you got to smile. Smile."

Ralph (yells): "ALL RIGHT NORTON! PUT 'EM UP! PUT 'EM UP!"

(Trixie separates the two.)

(Jackie Gleason walks on stage. Audience applauds.)

Jackie: "Thank you. Good night everyone."

(Audience cheers.)
