Wihout a doubt, this is the most emotional and gut-wrenching episode in the entire series. Richie gets into a motorcycle accident and ends up in a coma that leaves him near death. Here we see a clear example of the special bond that exists between Richie and the Fonz that involves more than mere friendship, something which is shown further, with less serious overtones, in Thursday's episode.
