Kind of an obscure question, but for past or present Chicago residents what kind of real life neighborhood would the Evans family have lived in? I know the assumption is they were at the Cabrini Green projects, but they never actually mentioned they were living at that site. (Plus from what I've heard Cabrini Green would have been far more decrepit than even where the Evanses lived.)

That's because they lived in a fictional housing projects and only used the Cabrini Green Buildings because the show was set in Chicago.

You wasn't going to hear them mention Cabrini Green on the show since it was a sitcom.

How come James named the Mayor of Chicago in one episode, then they could have mention Cabrini Green if the Mayor name was correct in Chicago at that time during the sitcom.

Wasn't the building the Evans family lived in shown on the show's opening, or is my memory faulty?

Just as the house (duplex?) that was supposedly 72 Houser Street was shown on the opening of All In The Family was onviously meant to signify where the Bunker family lived..?

I would think this has been discussed here already, so if so, excuse the repeated questions.
